Marquee 3x6m Party Gazebo $88.90 @ Bunnings Warehouse

600

Came across this online and picked one up today, I am hosting a party over the weekend and was struggling to find a sheltered gazebo large enough and at the right price point until I stumbled across this deal. Great thing about bunnings is that they have a fantastic returns policy should something happen to the gazebo.
As the stock is only recently on sale I had to go to 2 separate stores to find one that was on the shelves ready for purchase as many of them were on racking and was advised that it would take some time to get them down to have them ready for sale, either that or the guy who served me was too lazy.

Competing with the (soon to be) Aldi offer I'd assume

    yeahh nahhh

these are an absolute horror to set up i rather go kill myself then set these up for family functions.
the poles also get rusted super quickly .

        I C U R OK

      • Not really

        • what can I do to help you Captain?

        • @ozy: nothing much. Might go counselling for suicidal thoughts . Local gp said there are meds but i dont want to take them.

        • @CaptKirk: not sure if serious but PM me if you’d like to chat.
I’ve had family members go through severe depression and sometimes it’s good to talk it out with someone.
Hope you have a great day

The chick in the video Desiree says it is "solid steel construction for long lasting performance and resistance to weathering GUARANTEED!"
      she lied!

Need at least 3 people to make putting this up bearable.

Looks good once up though. Not too complicated.

    • Are they decent once set up ? As far as quality ?
I dont really care if poles go rusty . I am thinking to set it up as a permanent area in my huge backyard.
Because im in housing department house, im not allowed to set up a proper garage or large shed. As this is technically certainly not permanent. I was thinking this might suffice as a substitute shed/garage type area, to store my tools, boat motor, bikes etc in.
Also anyone with any suggestions how to keep it up permanently, like any improvements etc, any advice would be much appreciated.
Note: im on tight budget, and cannot lay concrete or anything 'permanent' ie. Anything that cannot be removed fairly easily when i move out in a few years from now.
      Thanks

      • Don't think it would last very long if left up.

Its quality only suits occasional use.

      • This absolutely won't stay up permanently. The quality of the material won't hold up. I've seen wind shear far more expensive versions of these to pieces. you might get a few weeks, you might even get a few months if you're really lucky - but it won't last long. You certainly don't want to be protecting valuable items from the elements with this.

I have a pair of oztrail 3x3's and some side walls. A lot more cost but I have never had suicidal tendencies like those above from setting them up. Cost me maybe $500 for the 2 and walls.

    • I agree and also have the oztrail gazebo's with sidewalls but like you said $500 is quite steep, I mostly use them for camping. But for $88 dollars would be great for kids parties and not losing out on much should it break.

      • should it break

        Edit: When it breaks

    • Suicidal tendancies to save a few dollars is the ozbargain spirit :D

      • All I wanted was a Pepsi

It’s a cheap piece of rubbish. Bought one a few months ago. One of the corner connectors was missing, the cover tore, had to duct tape the steel pipes to the connectors as they would come off all the time, the ropes that hold down the tent snap by just pulling it down too hard. Do yourself a favour and don’t get this piece of shit.

Great idea. Put all the kiddies inside with a table of fizzy juice and sugar coated snacks and watch the show through the windows.
As a party game give them paint and brushes and get them to decorate the walls, inside and out
    Like this

When finished bin the whole thing.
    Be a great party.

If you need something in a pinch that you're going to use once, MAYBE twice this is fine. Otherwise, good luck setting it up a third time

  • Anyone have some recommendations on where to buy a good quality large marquee, say roughly 12m x 6m or bigger. Australia wide is fine, as long as the quality is good.

I have looked on eBay, gumtree, and Bunnings but they seem to be cheap, poorly made junk.

    • anything on eBay, gumtree or bunnings are going to be cheapish and poorly made if you want something quality you'd need to go to a canvas factory or find somewhere that does thick PVC fabrication. We hired one once for a wedding, it weighed a ton and was super time consuming to erect, i put this one up yesterday to try it out.. Took me 15 minutes on my own. Poles were powder coated white, exterior was lightweight, everything was easy to assemble.

      Ease to Assemble 8/10
      Aesthetics 7/20
      Durability 6/10
      Value 10/10

End of the day it will suit its purpose for $88 rather than hiring a marquee of the same size for more than twice the cost.

  • Bcf seems to be clearing old stock of slow sellers as is Anaconda,
    Maybe keep an eye out.
I think I bought an aldi 3x3 and it's pretty ok quality.
Just peg them down really well so they don't move or flex in the wind.

      I think I bought

Let us know if you remember whether you did or not

        Was a great party 🍷🍾🍻🍺🍹🍸

      • I'm pretty pretty pretty pretty pretty sure it's blue?

  • If you ever need a marquee, just buy a 3x6m pop up one.

It takes 15min to set up and it’s a single unit that you simply walk out.

They sell for $220ish, but are 100x better than this garbage!

  • I bought one. Storm came and snapped the plastic

    • I agree.
Though the one I had didn't need a storm, in light afternoon wind the plastic joins snapped, the top 5 way joins snapped 2 joins and one corner.
If joins where made of quality pvc plastic with plasticize or similar they would be more robust. Even a metal version would be better.

OP, they are not solid steel, more like curtain rods.

Even the intended riser which acts as a spacer inside the join (the female part) wears out quicker then it took me to recall and write this.
As End3vour mentioned, have your duct tape ready to the poles.

  • These have a very finite range of practical use and as stated don't take long to turn to landfill. For $88 they could be perfect for some

Get one and use for airbnb. LOL.

    • Get 3 ; and start an airbnb hostel . 3 bunk beds in each :) 6 guests per gazebo × 3 = lots of $$ .. And possibly angry neighbors

  • this is a good price for what it is, in a pinch. but fwiw i would avoid popup gazebos and stuff like this completely, as stated above they always break and then it's landfill. i came close to getting one recently but after reading up heaps on the topic decided to go for tarp/poles/pegs setup as it's such a better long term investment - was a bit to learn at first but has definitely paid off, now have roughly same size setup as this for around $130 with some patience searching gumtree. has withstood some big storms without any issues. <1hr to setup solo and always easy to do
