  • $5 off is only for new connections. So $40 for existing customers.

    • I did an upgrade and looks like I still got $5 off - at least it shows in the account details, we will see how much they will bill… Still a good offer even for $40.

  • Kogan all the way

$5 for 14 gb a month….if you dont mind portin and out which takes 15 to 30 mins generally after few iterations with telcos

Link for Kogan mobile deal? Which network do Kogan use.

    • 16 GB
but how do you know if that deal will last in the next 3 months?

      • Look at the trend..

You may score few months free in between ( woolies or kogan )

Also if you switch to Ovo etc that brings down cost of YEARLY bills to $50 or less.

  • TA - whats the chances of Cashrewards getting back up and running and getting a cash back incentive on this one in the near future?

    • Ho Toretto. Note that we reactivated Vodafone on Cashrewards at 11:30am today. We've had to remove all prepaid products from cashback for now as Vodafone is yet to implement a fix for successful tracking. Postpaid however is no issue, and this particular deal will earn you $20 cashback. Please ensure Cashrewards is your LAST click before clicking through to Vodafone so that no other channel is attributed with the sale. Enjoy :)

      • And a Ho Ho back to you TA. Thats awesome, thanks for your work!

  • Complicated question peeps, and I appreciate it if anyone can assist. Currently I'm on a Vodafone 365 prepaid sim that is under a family relative's name, who has now moved overseas. I'm wishing to move to this plan and also have the sim details changed to mine. I have the account pin, person's name and DOB. What methods/processes are available to make this happen? Thank you in advance.

    • I went in store to have the SIM details changed to mine

  • I love how it says sign up to the 12 month sim only plan.

And then in the fineprint it says over 24 months, but total cost $480. ?? Theres no discount in that cost.

    • They do mention though that this cost is excluding offers

Do Voda use Telstra towers ?

What's their speeds like compared to Woolworths mobile ?

    • Are you serious???

  • Damn the plans are so cheap now. I can't wait until March when I can get off my contract with Telstra!

    • yeah. and probably best to avoid contracts. you'll never know in the next 6 months other will have better ones.

I was having a look at the Vodafone $35 deal versus the current Optus $30 deal for 15gb of data, 300 international minute deal.

If you were more locally minded, I think the Optus deal is better as the key benefit for me is that it allows data free streaming for things like Music (Google Play Music, iHeartRadio and Spotify), Optus Sport and TV (Yes TV by Fetch, Netflix, Stan, ABC iview, ABC KIDS iview and ABC ME). The main down point for me though is Optus' really bad roaming option which is $10 per day for unlimited calls and SMS but only 100mb of data.

Compared to Vodafone RED $5 per day and you use whatever data allowance and call restrictions you would have in Australia, means I could have up to 18gb of data per month with unlimited calls plus lots of international call minutes as well.

That all being said, I'd say that if you are more of a streamer as opposed to am international traveller then the Optus package should be given some consideration first. I travel internationally about 40 days a year and don't really stream so my preference is the Vodafone plan.

Ive been with Vodafone for about 4 years now.
I've always known they have the worst network , but the deals I've been on have always been unbeatable and the phone sales team are always willing to bend / give extra value when pushed.

The $5 roaming is an absolute must in my opinion. Ultimate in convenience.
But I gotta ask why they say "Data in Oz" when people on those plans have the $5 roaming option (in most countries)

Re Voda vs Telsta vs Optus.. I can live with being in a black spot every now and then , but the data (which is really just web, videos and music) are indistinguishable to me. If its faster than home broadband , its good enough.

Just switched to this $35 plan

      • +2

Agree, I love the RED roaming, it is just too convenient. I guess though that if you are a commuter with Netflix type services that the Optus deal would look pretty good. If Optus fixed up their crap roaming packages I would consider jumping ship.

        • So if you have unlimited local calls and text means when you are travelling you can call people back home unlimited? How about for example you are in America and you are calling America numbers, also unlimited?

        • @dragonindespair: If in London, I can make unlimited calls to UK numbers and as I have free minutes to call X countries, I use up THAT to call them. That is how I've always treated it. The funny thing is that my minutes never seem to drop so that it could actually BE unlimited calls to selected countries (including to Australia).

    • If you're comparing Optus to Vodafone, have you taken customer service in to account? I get the impression that Optus have a kind of disdain for their customers. Example, last time I looked, it was very difficult to find the customer service number on their website, they effectively tried to hide it. Also, unless it's my bad luck, whenever I've called Optus customer service I just felt like the people I was talking to didn't know what they were talking about and didn't care.

  • Hey guys, I upgraded to sim only $40 plan in October and get 12 GB data. I went to Vodafone store just then and rang them up and they said no I am not allowed to upgrade or move to this plan unless I pay my cancelation fee ($180) and they also said to upgrade on sim only plan I need to have the plan atleast for 9 months. I really want this deal because of more data. You guys got any sneaky ways or help?

    • Complain about the data service in the area you are in. Get out of the contract. Lose connectivity for a little bit (or just go on a month by month with another provider), join Vodafone online for the new plan.

The above was just a theory though. I think the deal finishes end of the month but would not be surprised if it is kept on.

    • Try online chat and ask to speak to disconnections and ask to upgrade instead :)

    • the answer you need… It can be done..
Ring vodafone, ask to be put through to RETENTIONS. They will try to sort our the issue themselves, but be insistent. Once you get there, you can speak to someone who HAS the authority to either:
      A) upgrade your existing data amount to match the current offer, on your existing plan with existing contract expiry, or
      B) upgrade your plan altogether to the new plan.
      PS.. It HAS been done..

  • Vodafone (my partner’s phone) seems to have better network then telstra (my work phone) and optus (my primery phone). Surprisingly, no conection at Ikea tempe with telstra but 3 bars with Voda at the same spot.

I am in Sydney and will be porting my number to Kogan which is on Voda network.

    • Same. Voda best in Newcastle and Optus Telstra about same.

  • Thanks OP. Just got 10GB extra for $5 less than my old plan.

  • this looks great as im paying $35 for 3.5 gig at the moment and voda page says i can upgrade for free
thing though on the upgrade page it says the 20 gig will only be for 1 month as 5 gig of that if month 1 only bonus

ahh all good it looks like you actually get 25 gig for month 1 then 20 there after. didnt realise the deal had more to show

Just think, this time next year, we should be looking at $35 Plan - 100GB.

  • We’ll be back online soon.
We’re currently updating our site with scheduled improvements.

  • this must be for new customers only - existing NON CONTRACTED customers, i cannot upgrade through MyVodafone and when I add to cart, it wants to post me a new sim… (profanity).

    • I had a non contracted SIM and it asked me if I want a new SIM posted or upgrade my current one on Upgrade page.

      • yeah, i dunno - that particular plan wouldn't show up on my upgrade screen (was already on Red 40 plan so maybe not an upgrade in their view). requested a call back from their site, sorted on the phone in five minutes flat… they applied $5 discount plus 10% student discount and gave additional 12gb for this billing cycle and another 5gb for next.

    Hi All,
Got on to the chat with Vodafone, and negotiated it down to $31 with 20 GB data + extra 5 GB data for 2 billing cycles. Note that I am an existing customer with Vodafone, and had 3 numbers on my account.
The level 1 service was only offering 1 GB data or $2 off, so I asked to be transferred to 2nd level service.

    • Chat online or over the phone? You’ve definitely scored an absolutely brilliant deal.
I’ve been a Vodafone customer for 8 years and when i went in store and spoke over phone they couldnt even get me this deal!
And also what does level 1 service and 2nd level service mean?

    • +2

I was just offered the $31 too. I didn't know there is a 2nd level service. Maybe I can get it down cheaper. The catch is the rep still wanted me to pay $40 to get out of my existing contract with Vodafone with 2month left.

tbh I'm really thinking of going with Kogan since its $10 cheaper and I don't need all the extras.

    • +1

Cheers for this; got mine to $31 per month as well!

    • If you still have 4 months left on the contract are you able to upgrade?
Tried calling voda they told me it has to be 9 mths into the contract before you can upgrade without termination fee.

  • Never ever will I ever go on vodafone ever. My wife was on it and constant horrible reception (Brisbane) even in the CBD it would drop out randomly. Plus they overcharged her and tried all these different excuses. Pretty sure she ended up getting out of her contract earlier (long time ago now).

Enough to put me off Vodafone for life.

Great deal, thanks. I asked to be put through to the customer retention team and they offered this deal for $31 per month with 5GB extra data for the first month.

I was able to negotiate the 5GB as an extra for the whole 12 months so works out to $31 for 25GB in total. I was doing this on 3 numbers so not sure if that is why they offered it.
