Woah. Phone inclusions are getting awesome or maybe they’ve been ripping us off for years…

    • +4

      It's called the Tightarse Effect.

      • +1

Can Tightarse Effect go up to 100%?

        • +1

An arse that tight will implode.

        • +1

@Trishool: Correct - that is beyond the Chandrasekharse limit.

        • @Yarkin:
If the hole was already dark coloured, would it turn to darker/blacker hole or something else? Would it have hair? Can anything escape it?

        • +6

          @billy77:

          You're overthinking arses.

  • I'm liking all these Sim deals and phone + Sim deals. If only telcos were offering the iPhone 8+ with the $60 p/m plan or at least $65 p/m (e.g. Virgin's plan)

    • Why not iPhone X?

      • Works for me if they offer it!

        • Lol! We never stop expecting more!

      • -1

        why not iphone 7?

        • +2

          why not iPhone 3GS?

        • @cheaponos: why not alcatel phone?

        • @dragonindespair: why not Motorola DynaTAC

        • +1

          Why not Nokia 3310?

        • @dragonindespair: Buy phone outright. I bought Alcatel idol 4s from Ms USA through black Friday deals. Best phone for the price US $169. Blows away any iPhone Imo.

        • +2

@ozmu: damn, thats one ugly phone

        • +3

          @ozmu:

I bought Alcatel idol 4s from Ms USA

You bought a phone from a beauty pageant?

        • +2

@Scab: Beauty as they say is to be seen from the eyes of beholder ;)

        • @Scab:

LOLOLOL man I laughed so hard. Saved this one for future laughter.

        • +1

I bought Alcatel idol 4s from Ms USA

You bought it from Ms USA?

  • Hmm. To cop the $116 ETC, or stay with Telstra…

  • Whao! That's one helluva plan.

  • +4

Plans are.getting so cheap now. My kogan plan is now offering 23GB a month with cost around $25

    • How did you get 23gb for $25?

      • +1

Automatic increase across the board for all plans

    • Damn I'm tempted by this.

Finally might be enough to move from the grandfathered (and very grant) woolworths plan.

    • Do they include international calls?

      • kogan? nope. and no roaming as well even if you want to pay, not available

    • My $25 Aldi plan is giving unlimited local calls and text with 4 GB data. 100 min international calls is only for 50 countries. My origin country is not in the list. I have to pay extra for those international calls.

Still ALDI is on Telstra 4G network which is very reliable and has a very good coverage. My friends with Voda are struggling to get signal even in CBD in some places. If you take that into consideration this is not a good plan. Otherwise inclusions are good.

      • Some people here will eat 4gb in a week.

        • 4GB a week for OZbargain, definitely

  • Hey TA when are you going to get Amazon on Cashrewards

  • I was with them until the start of this month, they had crap deals so switched to optus, no regrets as my reception has been much better in rural areas.
Also I done a speed test and got 90mbps/25mbps on optus whwreas voda barely gave me 20/10.

    • With Kogan/Vodafone you can use Optus signal if no Vodafone connection just by turning roaming on. There is an agreement between the two networks.
      Huge speed difference though.

      • Agreement terminates soon.

        • Oh really? Any ideas when? Looking at rejoining Kogan but might need the rural coverage next year.

        • Actually looks like it could be April/May next year and some have said it has already stopped working (from Whirlpool comments).

        • @animal:
I don't know. But you could have a look at the post "Vodafone an optus new roaming agreement" on whirlpool.

    • i have optus and voda sim active now on different phones to try which one best, how/what are the best way to do comparison speed/coverage test?

  • +1

Lame against Kogan, Virgin and Optus.

  • +3

Yeah if you dont need the international calling then the kogan deal beats this hands down.

    • You can use other paid VoIP apps for international calling. Still better off.

    • True, but both Vodafone and Kogan are using the vodafone network which is terrible in remote areas.

    • The only problem would be when overseas with Kogan. Not sure if it works for receiving text messages on roaming for free… You can always make or receive calls using VOIP but some essential services use text messages.

  • Virgin offers $5 per day roaming overseas that gives you all your allowances as if you were in Australia. Kogan does not beat that hands down.

    • Did you mean Vodafone or really with Virgin? I am with Virgin but not sure about this $5 roaming. I know Vodafone Red plan has the $5 roaming though.

      • +2

Oh my sorry mate. VODAFONE. Thanks for the correction!

        • You've got virgin on the brain.

        • @Scab:

          Its my current provider :)

(until i get my new vodafone sim)

        • @Toretto:

          Virgins don't provide.

  • i have optus and voda sim active now on different phones to try which one best, how/what are the best way to do comparison speed/coverage test?

  • @TA what do you mean by 150/500 Int Mins ? 150 or 500?

    • +1

150 to all, 500 to select countries

  • +3

Unless you have an absolute hatred of JB I can't understand why you'd get this over their Telstra Offer. Pay less and get the Telstra network, seems a no brainer to me. Not sure if the offer has ended though given how poorly they advertise it….

    • +1

What offer are you referring to ?

      • $49 with a $200 gift card and 20gb. They've had it several times.

        • I choose Vodafone because I travel to NZ multiple times a year ( free roaming to NZ ) otherwise I would be all over the JB hifi deal

        • +1

          @slimdavy5:
          That's fair enough :)

  • now im using 60$ sim only plan, 15gb ,int call 300/1000min . (contract end 12/04/2018) so.. can i change to this offer?

    • why bother a contract again? even vodafone or optus or telstra say yes, after 12 months you will feel pain again and will be asking this same silly question again.

    • +2

My cousin was on the $60 sim only plan she called Vodafone and got 50gb a month which is the new $60 sim only plan . 52Gb if you do not need international calls

      • thanks !

    • I have successfully managed to change plans in the middle of a contract with them in the past. I have the same plan as you but pay $40. Give them a call and let them know that you won't be renewing if they wont allow you to downgrade! It's a sim only plan, I dont see what the issue is. I was once advised by their Rep that you could upgrade or downgrade on their sim only plans even if you are on a contract! Worth giving them a call

      • Signed 40$/12 month sim only plan last week, only 15Gb. Called customer this morning, they said they cannot change my current plan to this plan because I am under contact.Don't understand why^

        • What I was told was that I am not allowed to change the plan in the first two months and then I was up for downgrading/upgrading! Again, god knows why! I am happy with my plan bcoz I get 1300 international minutes, but this new offer sounds tempting as its $5 less but I still get 650 minutes. Dont care about the internet much. Vodafone keep changing their plan and CIS documents so often that some of their sales guys even cant explain things correctly at times! before anyone negs me for stating the facts, I used to work for Telstra and I would never talk to a customer before knowing what I am selling!

        • +1

I think you have to have been on your contract for minimum three months before you can change

        • @Layze: Thanks Layze, Good to know that, at least have a chance to update my plan in the future.

        • @neilhappy: I wanted to switch to this but I'm about a week shy of being with Voda for the minimum three months. Will try next week. It's a great deal!

        • +1

I have exactly the same situation as you, just upgrade my plan recently and get 15gb and now see this offer. It hurts my feelings :(

  • +5

I have to give credit to Kogan mobile otherwise the telecom companies would still be ripping us off.

  • You are better off getting this deal http://ozb.me/o/1RAX?u=tw if you don't mind the extra hassles. It's $22 approx per month for 15gb on Telstra network. This is how it might work. It's just some idea, don't blame me if it didn't work for you, cheers
    1) select the plan with Google Pixel 2
    2) sell it on eBay for $1000, you get $900 approx.
    3) do some math
    $59*24mth=$1416,
    $1416-$900=$516,
    $516/24mth=$21.5 !!!

    • +1

Sell the google pixel on Sundays via eBay’s Sunday market ($1 final fees + $26 PayPal fees).

      • Even better! It lowers that to $18.5 mth!

    • what if you run into gumtree murderers or robbers?

    • +1

look good but 24 months contract is long…. in 12 months probably there are much better deals

    • But youre stuck on a 2 year plan, get 5GB less data, international calls (if needed) have to be added at $10 more per month, international roaming is $5 more per day and has a low 100mb/day cap, and you have to go through the hassle of selling a phone on ebay.

With the way things are going in the mobile telco market, I personally wouldnt be touching a 24 month plan.

      • agree. its a trap that looks cheap in the beginning.
btw, how much intl roaming per day for voda and whats included?

        • +1

Voda's is only $5 a day, and your phone acts like it is in Oz giving you full access to your normal allowances with no cap. SMS, Calls, Data, everything.

Its a huge plus for me given I go overseas every year for big chunks at a time

          https://www.vodafone.com.au/plans/international-roaming

        • @Toretto: wow that is good especially if you have big data allowances. keep the facebook friends updated

        • @Toretto: I wonder why you wouldn't buy a local sim. It's usually the cheapest option.

        • @od810:

not if you are a businessman. I always need my number roaming anywhere in the world, so my business partners can call me and keep in touch with me.

        • @Toretto:

Just keeping in mind that the $5 roaming is only for the listed countries. I got caught out using my "$5" roaming in a country that wasnt listed and paid the price. So be sure to check the country you are going to before you use your $5 a day roaming.

        • @od810:

Thats what Ive been doing ever since I left Vodafone over a year ago and trust me, its not the cheapest option if you use your phone a lot. $5 a day is a great deal.

        • @Anstar:

Very true. Luckily I only travel within those 55 countries

    • $1000 on Ebay a bit rich when someone could walk into a store and get it for same price.

  • Thanks op. Locked in both numbers.

  • +1

Finally a decent offering from Voda. With the $5 per day overseas roaming it is a compelling offer.

  • -1

    still not good enough

  • Good thanks

  • omg, just signed up this plan last week, can I call them to adjust my plan fee and add more data? Thanks.

    • They have 30 days guarantee, if anything you can disconnect and connect again

      • Just called them and told me only if I have any issues with the network, not just simply unhappy and cancel the plan.

        • I used the network guarantee once and just said I have patchy reception inside a school hall where my daughter does dance…they were adamant it should have good reception I just said for some reason data is so slow inside there and I want out, they gave me the guarantee

      • +1

So that country town you visit alot that isn't coveredon their maps is your reason

  • Come on Telstra, please introduce some competitive plans!

  • Hi all,

Just wondering if there is any condition on the bonus 14GB? When I look at T&Cs it says there is 9GB bonus data on $40, 12 month sim only plan, not 14GB… I’m not great at decoding these T&Cs and have been caught out before, not getting a deal I expected. would appreciate any help. Thanks, bec.

On Vodafone, good luck pushing the download to 5GB a month let alone 20GB 😃. Because Vodafone network are bloody awful. Is it worth your heartache even at $35/m?
