Nice, finally the black friday discounts are revealed!

  • +1

better than i expected, but still not great.

  • +1

Disappointing - a few retailers have better deals.
It's as expected though, since Apple can't risk undercutting the retailers.

    • can you tell me which retailers they are? (if possible, around sydney area?)

      • +1

Ipod Touch 8GB is better in Kmart.
Ipad range is better in BigW.

Mac and Macbook range, have not look hard enough for a bargain :)

LOL, if you go to the student site and check out their MacBooks or iMacs:

    A$ 2,278.00
    Was A$ 2,279.00
    Save A$ 1.00

Yeah of course, not everyone's a student and it's a good saving nevertheless.

$1 saved is 3 extra packets of mi goreng

      • +22

mate, you must be buying some premium mi goreng

        • +1

Indomie or nothing, I say! ;)

  • not bad, not bad at all… though nothing I want/need.

  • Nice discount on the 64gb touch. I'm only buying retailers bring it down though.. ive got a few unused gift cards.

  • +1

Better than I expected though Apple has no doubt been making a bit of money while the AUD been hovering between US$0.96-US$0.99 without revising prices on their online store.

  • +2

I wish the iphone was included. :(

The price for the 64gb ipod touch looks delicious.

  • Heres the page for everything that is on special:

    good deal for me.

    1. discount 121aud
    2. 5% from money backco.
    3. im travelling overseas, another 10% GST at airport. awesome deal.
    • +10% GST when you come back into the country with it. :D

      • +8

        Which they never check for.

      • Duty free allowance

    • +2

Nice but unfortunately MBC doesn't work on iPad :((
Their entry level iPad seems to be the cheapest in Australia though

  • I wish these were the standard Apple prices. But even the Time capsule prices are extortion!
Tempting, but none of the items appeal to me.

  • +1

I got an iPad. $51 discount from Apple and another $52 from GST claim!!

TGIAS (Thank God its Apple Sale)

  • +1

cheaper than usual, but still a bloody rip off.

  • +1

No special on Mac mini :-(

  • Campared to the pricing of Apple USA, we still pay ridiculously while Australian dollar is getting ever stronger. I have made my purchase directly from US via eBay

    • don't think so. us sales tax + postage + potential GST make most items similar priced

      • +1

Yes for order over AUD 1000 is subject to AUST Customs duty but I managed to get a brand new, delivered Mac mini 2.4ghz 4gb ram 500gb hdd 35% cheaper than local purchase. Whoop!

        • tell me more

  • And you also get 4 velocity points per dollar spent at the apple store

  • +3

This 'special' brings the iPads down to BigW's normal price

    • +4

Kmart sells the ipod touch 8gb for $239 too. It's $264 at this sale.

      • very true

    • +1

I thought Big W's normal pricing for the 16GB wi-fi iPad was $598…?

    • Buying direct from the Apple online store gets you free engraving and shipping so it's still a good deal.

      • Wow engraving, I saved $5.

      • +5

Engraving is all well and good until resale time though! ;)

      • +2

I'd rather have a nice card with my ipod than have someone carve something in it, regardless of the sentiment.

    • -1

Obviously BigW/Office Works prices are always cheaper than Apple's. But there is no engraving, and for items such as 64gb Ipod Touch, its 30 bucks cheaper than Big W.

  • i just picked up the 32gb ipod touch for $338 and and i received a bonus Belkin Ipod AC Wall Charger valued at $24 and a Belkin Tuncast Auto FM Transmitter valued at $78 from JB HIFI. Bought from World Square Store in the city.

  • The 1TB portable drive for Mac for $146.99 delivered is a good deal IMO: http://store.apple.com/au/product/H0767?mco=MTU3MjMwNzQ

  • -3

Who negged? I don't see anything wrong with this deal - it's a shame I already have all the Apple products I need for now :P

    Sent from my iPhone. heh.

    • I think it was Steve Jobs himself that negged it, coz it's costing him money that he desperately needs! :p

  • Cheaper here in the US:

hurrah. that's like saying petrol is cheap in saudi arabia.
      apple.com won't ship to australia.

      • I bet he's gonna say use a mailforwarding service.

        • a purchasing service, rather… they won't accept australian credit cards anyway.

  • +2

I better go for android tablet. Ipad is an expensive tablet and can't make your own application unless you have to pay for SDK.

  • Hey went there to buy an Ipad and the Guy talked me out of it saying in March the new Camera Ipads should be out if you can wait..

So I said thanks and left…

Now that is good service.. Telling the Truth.. How rare.. lol

    • +2

I've seen other employees discourage customers from iPads, because 90% of the people who walk in thinking you can use one for productivity etc (I sort of blame the marketing here, the iPad is horrible and inappropriate for this despite what the ads make it out)

And the new iPads aren't confirmed. Though looking at Apple's traditional product cycle, it's likely there will be an update. Whether it's a full-blown new device or just a 'iphone 3G' baby step is anyone's guess.

      • Well it should be soon considering they've said that facetime will be available across their product range now.

        • My guess is jan/feb 11.
