      It is available in-store as well so I would just walk into a Myer and buy the gift card there rather than do it online and go there.

    Does the bonus apply to purchasing eGift cards? Or just physical gift cards? (ie. Do they count an “eGift Card” as a “Myer Gift Card” or does “Myer Gift Card” refer to the physical gift cards only, which are called “Myer Gift Card”?)

    Woolworth and Coles often have these buy $100 myer gc and get 2000 points which is just like $10. Don't see so many ppl getting excited about that

          It doesn't matter what you buy from Coles/Woolies, only that you do in fact shop there.

          Take the $10 you can save on your next shop by cashing in the 2000 points, put it next to your $100 Myer Card, and you'll have $110 to spend at Myer ;)

          Sorry, but you're not going to win me with your argument. Plus I do take advantage of the bonus points offers when they crop up, seeing I can earn more points by buying a Myer gift card at Coles or Woolies with my AMEX compared to buying from Myer and paying with my AMEX.

          I'm not trying to win "you" over specifically. People have all sorts of reasons for wanting to do things one way instead of another. That's fine. I'm just pointing out that there is in fact merit to the earlier comparison for anyone who already routinely shops at Coles or Woolworths and has a rewards card that they scan when making purchases. Earning 2000 points for purchasing a $100 Myer Gift Card saves them $10, which has the same net impact on their bottom line, leaving them free to spend an extra $10 at Myer.

          If you don't like the scenario, fair enough. But it's a real one ;)

      There were signs from Dick Smith that I do not really see with Myer yet. For example, it was getting really hard to find stock, becuase their suppliers were cutting off supply as they were unable to to pay. I think at the time I was looking for iPads at the DJs website and was wondering why the entire range was out of stock for weeks leading up to Xmas.
      From what I see, Myer is still getting restocked.

        I agree that I don't see Myer dying just yet but I also wanted to warn people on the chance that it could happen.

        Someone might be stashing the gift cards for the next 12 months. Never know what will happen in 12 months.

        Their sales figures are down and their stock price has taken yet another hit. How many more times can Myer survive until it gets run into the ground?

        If you can spend the gift cards quickly, go for it. I personally wouldn’t hold it for more than a month, it’s not a bargain if it sheds its value.
