      Spoken like someone who knows nothing about GMO

        • +13

          Ignorance is bliss, I tell you.

          Oh, the irony.

        • +8

          @cheepwun:

          Don't you get it, nobody cares but you so go whine somewhere else and leave us to enjoy the chickeny goodness.

        • -7

          @Scab:
          Not whining, you are. If they don't care they can say that instead of making themselves out to be total knobs about GMOs.

        • +9

          @cheepwun:

          Because you keep posting the same crap on every fast food deal.

          Give up, nobody cares but you.

        • -5

          @Scab:
          If you cared then I'd start to worry. Will not give it up. You are free to ignore me though.

        • +3

          @cheepwun:

          It must really tick you off that you can't eat any of the good stuff.

          No KFC for you, NEXT.

        • -2

          @Scab:
          Good stuff. Is that what you call it? You nailed my profile so well. Nothing more to say. I feel as if you have seen into my soul.

        • +10

          @cheepwun: you're completely missing the point that there's nothing inherently wrong about GMO foods… GMO actually has done a lot of good for the agricultural industry.. Drought resistance, higher yields, etc.

        • +5

          @brezzo:

          no point explaining science to prehistoric people.

          "ohh its gmo, its not natural" they say, yet i bet they still eat food cooked, completely ignoring the fact that heating something "Degenerates" it in a much more significant and real way.

        • -1

          @brezzo: Entitlement and privilege says that poor people can just starve. Serves them right for being poor, I guess.

          Oh man… swimming against the tide of apathy…

        • -7

          @nada:
          No point debating countless GMO studies to those busy licking GMO chicken grease from their fingers…while extolling the virtues of 'science', as if debating sides and vested interests (and vested funding sources) don't exist in 'science' - the ultimate truth.

          Those saying GMOs are linked to terrible problems are naturally anti-science.

          If GMO foods are SO GOOD, how 'bout Labelling them as superfoods? Because they are linked to damage, that's why.

          @cheepwun:

          Please leave ozbargain, nobody wants you here.

    • +9

      Please cite any peer-reviewed study that shows the negative effects of consuming GMOs and I'll reconsider.

      • -1

        Please break through the super-thick layers if apathy and you will find what you seek. Funny how the argument has changed from KFC not using GMOs to GMOs not causing any problems.

        It's like the decades of Smoking debates all over again. A huge industry trolling dissent and facts, while muppets are led towards the path of least resistance.

        • That's because it's a sensible argument to make, and one leads to the other. Anyone with firing synapses can work that out.

        • -3

          @Mic Cullen:
          And they can presumably also find the evidence they purport to want to find - if they had a genuine concern or interest.

          I had the same responses about wifi until I spoon-fed links to people. Nothing changes…just thick layers of apathy and somebody wanting to make a statement rather than have a genuine interest.

          My job is not to spoonfeed so they may 'reconsider'. Those with concerns will look into it themselves. The rest are time-wasters.

      G for great

      $7.95 in WA

      • We're getting ripped off 5.6% in QLD!?!?

        • +4

          I don't think they pay GST in WA.

        • +2

          Queensland KFC is a seperate company or promotion area from the rest of Australia for some reason.

        • +4

          Wow, how many Ozbargainers here are KFC employees?

          It's like there's a whole flock of them.

        • +5

          You get 9 for 9.95 all year round, you don't get to complain.

  • +8

    Will pop in over the next week to get some.

    • +7

      that was a bit corny

      • +9

        He won't go, he's too chicken.

        • +2

          You all must be buckets of fun.

        • I'm taking a nap as I'm too fried after all those jokes.

        • @ShipShapeRC:

          You'd be batter off.

  • +2

    Seems expensive for popcorn.

    • +30

      Still cheaper than the cinema

    • +1

      seems expensive for batter and crumbs ….. the meat to coating ratio isn’t appealing as opposed to the fillets used in zingers, etc ….. guess they need to use chicken trimmings for something besides nuggets.

      • I thought they were made from the breast meat, therefore, the price of $8 for a maxi.

  • +3

    Is it free range Popcorn chicken, or does the the bucket give it away:)

    • +3

      all the trees used were free range!

    • +15

      The chooks were all given VR goggles to simulate an open free range farm.

      • Simulated chicken, yum.

        Should taste about the same as their nuggets then.

      • you sir, have broke the internet

      • reincarnation …. they hope to come back as humans in the next life … vegetarians or vegans …..

    • they are raised in buckets

  • +1

    last time they had this i could have sworn it was a cheaper crappy version of the normal product,texture was like that of the patties used in the kids burgers, coating not quite as nice either. So it would seem like a rip off if its the same product again!

    • +6

      Its the same popcorn we always use, we don't purchase two different types of popcorn and cook it when the promo is running. Either your store didn't cook it enough/ cooked it too long or it was left out for a while. Everything at kfc is cheap quality though, no matter the promo, thats how they make money

      • i admit i had not had popcorn chicken for at least 3 mths before that last promo, so maybe they changed the product so it didn't taste as good as a few years back. It was more like fillet bits in the good ol days.

        • well last time they must've stuffed it up somehow because i got some the other night & it was perfect in texture & taste!

    • Agreed, definitely wasn't as good. That being said I hadn't had popcorn chicken in a very long time prior and I'm still going to buy this h home Tuesday.

  • I can't find it in the app. Which section is it under? ie chicken, new products etc

    • IN 3 DAYS.

      • derp me

      • ITS STILL not in the app

        • -1

          Colonel's Table

        • @Mic Cullen: Post a screenshot of it then. Because its not there.

        • @Orpheus: It's also the most recent message.

        • @Mic Cullen: You cant place an order with Messages. You have to go to Order and then Colonels Table and then add it. Wheres your screenshot of it?

        • @Orpheus: As I said, it's there in Colonel's Table. I can add it to an order. No screenshot because posting them here is a PITA.

        • @Mic Cullen: Yep, just as I thought. Its not there. Someone at KFC HQ hasnt updated the app yet.

        • @Orpheus: "Thought" is clearly the wrong word for you to use. I guess they've just updated mine, eh?

        • @Mic Cullen: No because you cant prove it with a timestamp.

        • @Orpheus: new products, then scroll down

        • +1

          @Orpheus: Look, if it makes you feel better, I apologise for trying to help you out. But I'm not such a snivelling little moron that I need to "prove" the obvious to some bizarrely aggressive and weird rando on the web, one who is clearly nutso even in terms of OzB.

        • @Mic Cullen: Youre the one that made the claim thats its in Colonels Table and failed to provide evidence to back up your claim. Turns out they incorrectly put it in the new products category. I stand corrected. Do not spread misleading incorrect information in the future.

  • +4

    last time they just gave me 2x maxis instead of the mini bucket, it just isn't the same ;_;

  • 1486 calories is way too much to eat. Also KFC food is overloaded with salt.

    • Depends on what else you're eating and over what period of time?

      1486 calories is possibly not enough to eat?

      • +3

        if you only ate a bucket of this every day for the whole promo you might even lose weight depending on your TDEE.

        • +2

          I can't afford not to eat this now, I need to lose weight!

        • +1

          It doesn't work that way, you may lose weight but how would you get your 30 grams of fibre with the remaining 500 calories you should be consuming according to RDA. This type of food can never be part of a balanced diet.

        • @ChillBro: Good for you!!!

        • +1

          @freemoneyhunter: weight loss isn’t about a balanced diet, it’s calories in vs calories out. It’s obviously not healthy but it’s possible to lose weight on it.

    • For a guy, unless you're less than 60kg or so, it's not a lot to eat if you were to eat this over the duration of the day or even in one go. Just have to watch how much you're eating.

    • We Filipinos also eat this with Buckets of Rice. Bulk masters ¯_(ツ)_/¯

    KFC and Sizzler (what is left of them) share the same parent company, Collins Food Group. It used to be Collins Food International and we used to call it CFI care, for the wonderful way they treated their staff.

    • +1

      Technically, Collins Food Group is a KFC franchisee for Australia (and parts of EU I think) as KFC's parent company is Yum! Brands.

    • +2

      don't mention Sizzler, i'm still grieving :(

  • "Initially, KFC meals were built around a whole chicken, with a pick-up surface that contained "an enormous amount of breading, crispiness and brownness on the surface. That makes the chicken look like more and gives it this wonderful oily flavour." Over time, the company began to realise there was less meat in a chicken nugget compared with a whole chicken, and a greater percentage of fried batter. But the real breakthrough was popcorn chicken. "The smaller the piece of meat, the greater the percentage of fat pick-up," said the food designer. "Now, we have lots of pieces of a cheaper part of the chicken." The product has been "optimised on every dimension", with the fat, sugar and salt combining with the perception of good value virtually to guarantee consumer appeal."

    So apparently, popcorn chicken is the worse for fat.

    • Thank god for keto diet more fat the better. :)

      • +2

        too many carbs in the coating though

        • +2

          The coating is the yummy bits
