The download link is http link , please be aware of that, I dont think its legitimate software

    • +18

Yeah i would be scared to of the domain avg.com

      • pardon my ignorance, isn't avg.com the legit website?

        • +7

          Woosh.

        • @tsunamisurfer: Whoosh Whoosh Bush

        • McBain voice - that’s the joke.

        • -1

          @snagseb: is this not legit?

        • @stalker878:

Yeah it’s legit man. Just having a laugh. Avg.com is official.

  • How is this comparing to Kaspersky?

      • +3

Trump is paranoid and so is half of the US. DJI is banned for spying for the chinese, Kaspersky for spying for the russians and i am sure there will be many more to follow…

        • -6

This ban has nothing to do with Trump!
I don't think anyone would like to be spied on, but If I was to be spied on, I'd rather be spied on by paranoid American or Australian government, than anything related to Chinese or Russians.

        • +2

          @pal:
Do you have a choice? If you're worthwhile, more likely to be spied by all 4 and possibly more.

        • +1

          @pal:

There is no evidence that Kaspersky has spied on anyone and they have offered to submit their source code to prove it.

        • +1

@pal: such a foolish and misguided statement.

The worst of those and most capable of killimg their own people and others is the US. Its fact. Just look at the last 50 years.

The Chinese already own Australia and most of the developed world.

At least they conquer by finance and not death…

        • +1

Obviously the US — and us Au citizens — are quite correct to be aware of our governments ability and willingness to spy on every and any digital transmission we may make.

        • +1

please don't confuse trump with hillary.

      • -8

Trump is a dog, he sucks and he won by rigging the elections.

        • +13

Suck it up, princess. 7 years to go.

        • +1

I guess you wanted Hilary instead?

        • @RetroMetro: duff? hmmmm

      • +2

        concerns it was vulnerable

        NO

they are trying to make themselves look like the good guys when they were just massively busted forging Kasperky certs to install spyware (the US Govt does this!)

      • +4

Thats because kaspersky software will pickup the CIA/NSA malware and spyware. The USA based antivirus will white list CIA/NSA malware and spyware and let them do what they like to your PC.

  • Just to be clear, you can go and download the installer from the AVG site and if you do it today it will be full version for 1 year? No code or key required?

    • Yes

      • What happens if you download it but don't install it for another 6 months? Do you only get 6 months access or 12 months from the time it's installed?

  • +7

AVG Internet Security 2018 is available for free for one year at the following link since longtime and I am sure will be available in future also.
    https://sharewareonsale.com/s/free-avg-internet-security-201…

    • Thanks

    • The sharewareonsale one only works if you haven't used AVG before.

      • Just tell them you haven't.

        • You mean… be entirely less than truthful? On the internet?!

  • +6

Is there any point in using antivirus these days ? windows does most of the work now ..

  • Also….when you guys are installing…did you choose any of the 'shield' components? I deselected them all thinking they were extras I don't want.

  • +1

Activated and shows up until 12/11/2018

    • +5

      That's outrageous it is!

    • +1

Is it possible that it's using MM/DD/YYYY format?

      • Could be but I activated on 16th DEC.. so shouldn’t that be 12/16/2018?

        • ¯_(ツ)_/¯ guess you'll find out in a year. until then - keep virus free

  • peo[ple were right to question it. deal links to a german blog which links to a (profanity) executable..

that being said, NOD32 is free all the time anyway with 2 seconds of your time to activate the free trial every 30 days anyway

Today’s heise.de Advent Calendar is offering One year Subscription of AVG Internet Security 2018 for free, all you need to do is-to download the online installer [3.47 MB] from this link: avg.com/download-internet-security-2132

Next, launch the installer and complete the installation process, it automatically adds 1 year Subscription of AVG IS 2018 and doesn’t need any payment/cards information.

Note: The above link offers 1 Year Subscription for today only [16/12/2017], afterwards the link offers only 30 days trail.

    • Is NOD32 still considered to be the best?

      • +1

nod32 eset absolutely craps all over avg.

i've found plenty of malware and viruses on clients devices with avg installed.

i should actually change my neg vote to a positive vote as avg users are my biggest clients for spyware/malware/virus removal.

keep up the great work avg cough cough

    • Does it constantly nag you that you are using a free/giveaway version of their software and ask you to register it? I've had some software that do that, and I immediately uninstall.

  • it works

    License key:
    IBY9X-ESYXT-W4BZQ-QI4WX-A9LI7-INRS3

Its same key over and over …..

New user can download from AVG.com and use this key

    • -1

Where do I put this license key in? Been trying all day but can't find it. Thanks

      • EDIT: I found where to put the license key in but it is only valid for 30 days.
I downloaded the trial version from original AVG website.

        • If you have Installed AVG on that PC that is true. Only 30 days.

I did it on my Laptop fresh, and it gave me till 12/ 2018

        • @fnqseeds: Same here, thanks for posting the license key.

  • Does this include the pc tune up/clean up software?. I currently use avast and this feature is not available with the free version.

    • +2

It includes a link to install a PC TuneUp app with a 30 day trial available after which it's $4 AUD/month.

I haven't used AVG before, ui is uncluttered and laid out well. Very easy to configure and initial scan quick (on a fresh install Win 10 system, so I guess it should be. McAfee LiveSafe trial wasn't….)

  • +1

I don't know much about this stuff. Question: do you manually disable Windows Defender just prior installing this, or can they happily co-exist alongside each other?

    • +1

The installation process should disable Windows Defender, although do yourself a favor and don't install AVG.

      • why is that?

        • It's unnecessary, Windows in-built anti-virus will do mostly everything that AVG will do, but it's free, and it always will be.

        • @Lorindor:

Thanks, but I will give AVG a try for the next year. If I feel that its affecting my PC's performance somehow, I will uninstall it and return to Windows Defender. Can't be simpler than that.

  • +1

AVG went full malware years ago. GG boys

  • Thank OP. It asks to create a free AVG account during the installation (which requires an email address). Is this necessary, as in will it work ok with no email provided?

    • No, won't work without registration

  • +1

OK where have I gone wrong… installed within the time limit but expiry shows as 16th Jan 2018…

    • Worked on 2 other machines, so probably I have installed on this machine previously at some point and the machine ID or similar excluded it from this offer.

      • Just go to one of the machines where you have it installed and click add device

  • -8

It's expired but I'm still down-voting because it may be free but it's not a deal.

    • +2

How is some you usually pay but now get for free not a deal? Just pure curiosity

      • Well, I don't see value in 3rd party anti-virus applications, as I think they're unnecessary so I don't want people using it for a year then paying for a subscription.

  • +1

about as useful as securing your hose with cotton wool

    not bargain

when things are crap they try and give them away for free

    • -1

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about

      • neither do people who install this software lolololol

  • I have used Avast Free for years alongside Malwarebytes and have never had an issue

  • This is sh** I tried and it didn’t work and I installed it like 10 hours ago anyone know how I can get a free licence would be much appreciated

  • I just checked my subscription and it now says that it ends on 16 January 2018. I was sure that last night it said 16 December 2018. Anyone else had a similar issue?

    • Yes I just checked and mine also now says its trial version even tho it clearly stated that I have till 16 December 2018 last night :(

    • Did you confirm/activate the account via the email they sent? Maybe that's an explanation?

      • I did activate my account and click on the link on the night, and my one year subscription was there. Now it is not, it is just a trial version.

        • I tried streaming a movie to my media player last night and couldn't get the server to show, if I can't resolve this issue using AVG then I will be removing it pretty quickly.

If your trial expires next month, maybe just remove it and try it again using the link mentioned in the comments section - it's also a one-year trial.
