Washing your butt with water is infinitely better than toilet paper, so it's unclear to me why the western world still uses the latter. Still, attachable bidets can be had from Amazon for $50 or so.

      • +9

        That's definitely not it

      • +1

I'm passionate about environmental conservation, but the trees for the toilet paper, as well as additional hand washing (and sicknesses caused by improper hand washing) that would presumably be required over the bidet method, makes the 'environment' angle difficult to understand.

      • +3

you do realize that paper manufacturing, no matter the kind - recycling or not - is one of heaviest water polluting industry dont you jv?

    • Cleaning your bum with toilet paper is gross. That’s how food poisoning happens at restaurants. Water is always used to clean anything you can think of so why not cleaning your own body with water.

      • +1

That's how food poisoning happens at restaurants?

Do you not clean your hands after wiping your arse?

Just don't go picking up any food or other items with your arse cheeks and you'll get by just fine washing your hands like a civilised person. I'm for bidets but to pretend it's impossible to be sanitary any other way is just stupid.

        • No matter how many times you wipe your bum with toilet paper, it’s never clean. You still feel gross regardless even if you wash your hand afterwards and Japan, China and other other Asians countries are not wrong.

      • Don't ever become an astronaut then. They have to recycle their waste and re-drink it.

        • And that's just on cross country road trips,

    • +4

I have pondered this to, i can only imagine its a conspiracy by the companies that sell toilet paper lol

      • +2

Big toilet paper, the real government power brokers.

  • +1

Needs to be powered by eneloop.

    • +15

      did you mean enepoop ?

        Low self discharge, FTW.

  • +3

Is this a better product than the Coit-Scrub 3000?

    • +4

Yes, but it's not as good as the Pubis-Wash-n-Wax-Deluxe 1000.

      • It is better than the nimbus 2000

        • rimbus 2000

  • These are us$200 in taobao. Plus I calculated about $30 in shipping.

I bought one with the help of a Chinese friend but it didn't get shipped for weeks and had to ask a refund.

I'll try another seller next time. This is not cheap

  • +1

easily one of the best things i took away from my japan trip. i was literally just thinking before why more western countries dont adopt this

    • +3

How did you fit in your suitcase?

      • With a keep upright/this way up sticker.

We have them in our home installed for decades
Non electric ones, we bought them directly from India and Indonesia.
I don't know the electricity regs but mixing electricity with water isn't a great idea at least for me.
Try non electric ones- the really good ones are half the price of this and you install it ourselves

    • No to electric kettles? =/ coz mixing electricity with water isnt a great idea.

    • I hope you understand that these are non controlled water supply directly in contact with the human body where as electric kettles are controlled and contained.
Happy to be proven wrong if the electric and plumbing regs approve them.
      Don't risk your home insurance

      • Maybe a sparky or a plumber here can't shed more light
A plumber once refused to install non electric ones at our house - that was almost a decade ago not sure if regs have changed now

        • +2

Japanese had been using these for more than 3 decades.

For a country with 127mil population, there had been 0 deaths and 5 serious injuries between 2011-2016 caused by this kind of product. None of those 5 are electricity related - all of them were caused by inappropriate temperature settings that led to burns.

Mind you, that's safer than your kettles.

        • -2

          @nada:
They've also had economic stagflation for 3 decades…

        • @Frugal Rock:

well, you know human: perfect procrastinators when they dont have to worry about a**holes :p

      • Mate, you can buy a variant of these at Costco.

  • +4

Be careful with this, it will send back information about your faeces and photos of your arse to the Chinese government.

  • +1

    you had me at

female to clean their vulva easily

  • +4

This thing sounds like the Nutribullet of toilets.

    • They should have a 'Will it flush' viral marketing campaign.

    • Flushes with cyclonic action!

  • No Facebook/Twitter integration?

  • +4

Will this arrive in time for my Christmas delivery?

Surely Tightarse can jump on this (pardon the pun) and use his name for a discount coupon! Maybe CLEANARSE will do the trick.

  • +7

Buying this sitting on my non-smart toilet seat like a Neanderthal.

    • Can't + this enough

  • wat. well, I will wait for Xiaomi Mija Smart RealDoll. So that I can text it on the way home, and by the time I arrive the sandwich is ready, the beer is open, and she's ready to do a striptease

    • ‘By pairing your Mija RealDoll with the Real Seat you can have it self clean from the Mi Home app from anywhere in the world’

  • Do xiaomi make flesh lights and female toys?

  • +1

I wonder how many of the deal's positive votes are just because it's Xiaomi and/or a toilet seat.

  • They have them cheaper on ebay. I'm not sure how they compare though.

  • +2

Not to be douche butt technically this would very likely be illegal for use in Australia.

  • Great now China will also know how many times I take a dump. Can I flash with custom Rom

    • +2

  • Is this the same thing under the name SmartMi and cheaper? https://www.gearbest.com/other-home-improvement/pp_861678.ht…

OK, maybe not cheaper, depending on conversion rate.

    • Maybe refurbished,

    • Same product. Smartmi is Xiaomi backed company that manufacture some of their devices including the Air Purifiers.

US price it the same. AU will depend on how you pay.

      • You really know your toilets.

        • It's my job to know Xiaomi ;) Even if it's their toilet paper line.

  • +2

" As you sit down, the inserted sensor "

Does it get lubed up first? Doesn't an insert make it hard to use the product as intended?

  • I thought these are supposed to be $150 USD? http://www.homecrux.com/2017/08/14/78107/xiaomi-unveils-us15…

Meh, my $30 bidet does a brilliant job. Proof available on request.

    • Was about to say this does pretty much the same thing as my $30 bidet from eBay.. even better because I can buy multiples and still have a lot leftover for domino's.

  • I like it and all but it's very expensive, is it any better than the ones on ebay?

  • -1

I hear it takes unlimited refills like their pens…

  • And also I don't understand why so many talk about japan and Bidets as I've had one (a cheap ebay one) for years, never had a problem with it, rarely need the water warmed up though and I don't bother drying with the dryer either.

  • I have questions:
It must need to be conencted to water. Does it get the water from the same place as the toilet, ie do I need any other adapters/connectors?

    I see no cord.

It appears you ideally would have a toilet adapted for the additional plumbing and power cord. Any ideas how this would go with a standard aussie bogger?

    • -6

Does it get the water from the same place as the toilet

You have to connect it to your penis then pee and it's squirted onto your arsehole.

    • As far as I can tell you would need to tee the cistern connection unless you have two water outlets coming out of the wall which I have personally never seen next to an Australia crapper.

And yes you would need a GPO in the vicinity of the seat or hardwire it to hide the cord if you're keen to make it look professional. Extension cord from another room if you want to go ghetto.

  • What a shit deal, figuratively speaking of course :)

  • Worth checking 'Bristol stool chart' before choosing right product and method ;)

    https://img.webmd.boots.com/dtmcms/live/webmd_uk/consumer_as…

  • Heh I think Xiaomi have forgotten how fat westerners are

    • The hip wash feature is a stretch.

  • Ozbargainers are prob the most in need of this product out of anyone.

  • +1

If you are willing to spend more and get something locally, there is an excellent option at costco for $499
