  • Can I convert fhd mkv or Mp4 files into 640p resolutions with this software? And how about conversion time? Would it takes hours?

it does say it has no limits with that version we getting free.

I recently converted a series of files into h264 and h265. I benchmarked this tool and the free handbrake. Handbrake won hands down on performance and I could not see any quality differences. Hands down was approximately twice as fast.

WinX is easier to use. It also updates frequently.

My trial was two weeks ago, using Nov 25 edition of WinX HD Video Converter.

Anyone got a reason to use this over any of the free/open source alternatives like Handbrake for example?

    • Would also be interested in this, as a usual JDownloader user.

I posted above that I considered buying WinX. However, performance was much slower and I couldn't pick the difference in quality.

Tested 2 weeks ago. Converting 1080p from x264 to x265, converting 1080p x264 to 720p x264. Handbrake about twice as fast on both tests.

        Handbrake FTW

The online 4K video downloader supports 300+ video sites which seems useful. I often find free online downloaders are picky with different domains.

      • I usually use youtube-dl (free/open source) for downloading videos: https://rg3.github.io/youtube-dl/download.html
Unfortunately it's command line based, but still easy to use (just run "youtube-dl [website URL]", right click to paste the url into command line). Works on a variety of websites.

    • Faster hardware acceleration for one…

      • Handbrake supports intel's quicksync (for intel CPUs), but I don't think it supports nvidia/amd's graphics cards' hardware acceleration.

  • Is conversion local on the PC, or required to be uploaded for that functionality?

      Generic licence, as above

    • Also needs an email address, my email + serial don't work.

  • Download link would not work in CHROME [for me, it pops up a box that says Please Try Agains (sic)], even with all of my ad blockers/disconnect/etc turned off.

-Could just be an extension related problem for me.

It did work when I used the latest version of Firefox, however.

  • Site now says:

Today's free copies has been run out. Now you can gain it by:
Sharing to get! Only 1 step>> or Buying it on discount price.

    • 1000 copies a day so should be easy to grab it when their clock ticks over

      • Any idea what time that will be? What time zone are they in?

        • Got one last night
so I am thinking check after 8pm

        • open link ( https://www.winxdvd.com/giveaway/convert-video-free.htm ), press refresh button in your browser it shows 500 copies left for a second and download link also.
It was very fast on PC so I use on phone with mobile data. It gives you little more delay.
          Try this trick.

Clocked ticked over now. 940 licences left.

  • They are also giving away WinX MediaTrans for free, link is on the same page, different key. What is it? "The iPhone/iPad Manager That Knows Windows Users Better Than iTunes Does. The Easiest Way to Transfer Photos, Videos and Music between iPhone iPad and Computer."

  • Merry Christmas! And please note that the license code should be activated before Dec 31.

Chances are you can activate after that date provided you set date (and time) on your PC before 31/12/2017.
It does work with other giveaway products.

Nice generous offer, by the way. Very Christmas like :-)

    FFMPEG FTW.
Handbrake if you must have a GUI

I use FFMPEG to convert my sports cam videos to VP9 and h.265.

Waiting for the AV1 codec to be released

    • I am very certain this software uses ffmpeg as the base.

      • I doubt it. How could they package it and sell it with their only contribution being the GUI? I assume most of the codecs are proprietary.

  • Thanks, I was still on version 3.1 from how ever many years ago. I think from a similar non-upgradable deal in the past.

    • Yep. You're welcome to use the version 5.12.0 without time limits, but it doesn't support free upgrades to future versions. Hope you enjoy the latest version of this program. :)

      • Awesome software, looking forward to exploring the new features.
