  • I highly doubt that ebay would pull this before it starts as it is advertised on there website. Not good marketing.

So I clear my cart and add a $39 item to it and try the code, and get the message We can't apply this code until you reach the minimum order total. - that's fair enough.

I change the quantity for this item to 2 (making the order total $78), and try the code again, and get the message This code can't be applied to your order. - Huh???

I change the quantity back to 1, and get the original message We can't apply this code until you reach the minimum order total. again. WTF?! It looks like my cart was eligible other than the minimum order total, but then once it should become fully eligible, the code is no longer applicable??

I've tried this both via "add to cart" and via "buy it now" on the same item with the same results.

    • read the other comments, it's not working for anyone

      • Yeah, I just noticed that after posting… shakes fist at ebay

  • +8

Ok we get it people. The code isn't working yet. I think I need more confirmations…

    • Code is not working….there you go :)

      • Luckily, was going to check :)

    • -1

      Code is not working

    • +2

The eBay code of 10% off purchases on Boxing Day does not appear to be functioning correctly or in the manner of which eBay previously advertised that it would operate.

  • Does this apply on "make an offer"?

For example, if seller accept my 100 make an offer price, is this means I just need to pay 90?

    • Will work.. when the code is active. T&Cs still apply.

    • Seller has 48 hours to respond so you might not get a response in time.

  • wake me up when it starts working

    • -1

      —edit—

  • +1

Still waiting to be connected on live chat. (20 mins now)

Must be getting hammered, been saying under a minute for about 10 minutes.

    • +1

Yeah I tried before and it went to under a min and then just hung for ages, I gave up. Not much they can do but say hang in there I guess.

    • +1

Exactly. They’ll just tell you what they’re telling everyone else.

  • -1

    Code is not working. Bugger

  • Fingers crossed they're delaying to up it to 15% ;)

    • No way.

  • -4

Sorry, but it doesn't work on EVERY item, as advertised by eBay on its site.
Just tried to apply it on a Karcher SC3 steam cleaner being sold by "Discount Trader" and when I enter the PUNCH code I get told "This code can't be applied to your order".
Is this, then, tantamount to fraudulent misrepresentation under current NSW consumer legislation, by eBay?

    • +1

      Hahahahahaha

    • +1

It doesn't work on any items at the moment.

    • +1

Currently it doesn't work on ANY item. Look at the recent posts on this page.

    • It doesn’t seem to work on anything? You’ve had success?

    • +1

Get outta here with your tantamounts and read the comments…

  • Ebay customer support trying to contact IT department but they are on holidays like the rest of us.

    • +3

they told you fibs. any large company will have IT persons/team on standby 24/7

      • Yeah, definitely this.

        • +2

Maybe I should have added an emoji to indicate sarcasm?

        • @constipated: nah, people would gen think that certain trades take time off, lots of industries do.

    • I though Indian support centre don't get shutdown over Christmas period?

      • It's the Philippines, and no they don't , called them yesterday.

    • +1

They probably outsourced their IT overseas and IT hasn't woke up from their hangover yet :p

  • +5

only thing left now is to check 10AM AEST

    • +3

I'm with you. What's the bet it works fine at 11:00am EDST?

  • -2

    NOT WORKING

  • +2

Code not working - been sitting on the phone in a queue for over 15mins. Looks like another cockup for the TV tonight.

  • Trying to use the code on Washing machine valued to 379 doesnt wont to apply the code ? ;S

  • +1

I don’t think it is that hard to fix the code
    eBay did it by purpose

  • Trying to apply the code for half an hour. Doesnt work..

  • -3

I need both the code and officeworks working, damn

  • I'm hoping there's simply a EST mismatch and it'll start working in 4 minutes.

    • +4

I do not think that the time zone is the issue as before 10am it said"code does not apply yet- try later" and now it says "this code does not apply in this case"

      • Damn it, that logic just destroyed my hopes. But yeah, I think you’re right.

        • +1

          yeh rip still not working

      • They probably used the wrong internal code for 'all items', that or they put the all items code in the exclusion section… Or maybe Monkey A changed the code without telling Monkey B.

  • I bet someone forgot to check a property when he/she created the Coupon code in their provisioning system.

    1) 10.30 am: Someone must be calling an on-call developer in their M/W team to check why the Coupon is failing.
    2) 11.00 am: He figures out the issue and calls the product manager / team lead.
    3) 11.15 am: Product manager looks for the property, changes it, runs some test code and deploys.
    4) 12 pm: Production ready.

I would give them some time.

    • +1

Why would it take 30 mins to realise code not working and to call someone to investigate?

      • Yeah why isn't that hypothetical scenario super accurate!

        • Hypothetical scenario or time estimate?

  • Ebay never mentioned what time the code would be working. hate it!

    • 11:01 AM still not working

  • 10:01 AEST and still not working

  • Why so many officeworks posts? what are people buying from them?

    • +1

Not 100% sure, but I like them for good returns policy and prices.

    • +1

Nothing. One becuase the code is not working and two becuase even if it did Office Works has pulled their items from sale while the promo is on

    • They’re not participating.

  • Resources being on holidays, large complex IT system, doubt it will be fixed in a matter of hours. eBay will probably have to do a make-up day and offer a bigger discount to compensate for the inconvenience.

  • +1

Hi everyone, just thought I would let you all know that the code is not working.

    • +2

      Thank you :D!

    • +1

      👍

  • Another eBay fail

    • +1

Why the neg? The title clearly says [Not Yet Active]

      • -1

Why the positive?, there is no deal it doesn't work. Was advertised to work from 10am and still doesn't so fully justified neg

        • +2

Actually it never advertised to work from 10am. Have a nice read at it ;)

          Take that neg back!

        • -2

@DarkNexy: as long as all 621 who up voted take their votes on a deal that has not been confirmed.

        • -1

@wxyz234: it was confirmed. It wasn't noted in the T&C what time it would start… only the date. I can confirm it started around 11.30am ;)

        • +1

@DarkNexy: a previous ebay deal was canceled and other deals have been posted that have never been confirmed.

  • The checkout process is going to get DDOS'd when/if they do ever put this code live.

  • code doesnt weork. anyone ???

    • not yet

      • +4

give them some times to put the price up. once they ready code should work

        • doesnt matter the thing i want is $100 which i wont buy if i cant get the discount

  • +1

    E-bait~!

  • My mum said she just got an email about the 10% off deal.

    Yet it still doesn't work.

    • That’s prob a good thing I guess, indicates this wasn’t an intentional, hard to believe it would be but they’re obv not intending to cock things up.

  • +1

I have tried 100 times already. come on ebay!

    • Try now

      • Thanks

  • +1

    not working??!

This code can't be applied to your order.

    • everyone is the same

  • +2

eBay may give us a better deal since the code is not working.

    • Highly doubt it

    • Would you wait for the better deal if they fix the issue?

    • For that we'd need the news to pick up the issue and run some "Amazon gets it right, why can't eBay?" article.

    • I’m hopeful but yeah I doubt it.

    • +1

They'd have to give the deal of a lifetime to offset the boxing day prices and the code not working :\

  • +4

Is ebay ebay suggesting a PUNCH in the face?! FAIL

  • -6

    just worked for me!

    nar…. joking….

    disappointing!

  • +3

I received the 10% PUNCH email 40 mins ago.

I am pissed off as I bid 10% more for a item as I thought I would get the 10% off at checkout !!!

    • Ebay is advertising on its homepage since this morning. u should b pleased the code is not yet working, and might not work at all.

  • +1

    Still not working for me!

  • +2

This code can't be applied to your order.
    Wow that's stupid…

  • +4
