  • Wow! Cheapest I've ever seen this camera go for!

  • dang! got a price match with jb for 397 + 100$ gift card. if only they advert 337$ :(

    • +2

whats the story with $100 giftcard?

      • +1

Looks like it's up to manager discretion, the Castle Towers JB HiFi couldn't price match and then issue a gift card. :(

        • Got pretty lucky, the girl I talked to wasn’t from the camera department since it was busy. Pretty sure she just agreed to get it over with

        • <edit> never mind, was asking if you were at the same store I was

      • Merrylands JB did $380 and still gave me the $100 gift card!
Just went in store again and asked if they would do $337 and they only agreed if I gave back the gift card lol. I kept the gift card.

        • Damn I should have tried this, what a deal that is.
Least I got the same $397 + $100 card deal at JB, way better than store credit at TGG.

  • +3

plus 10% store credit - if you order today (boxing day only)

    • Was just about to post the same thing!

      • Where it says 10% credit?

        • +1

          Goodguys

  • +1

    Any deal on the d7200?
I’m going around in circles trying to get a good price on it

  • Just ordered, awesome deal! Used to have a D3300 and always regretted getting rid of it.

Any idea how one goes about claiming the 10% click and collect credit? Will pick the order up tomorrow, hoping to use the $33.74 credit towards a lens at the same time. Probably issued in store?

    • +2

The code will be sent out to your email address in early January.

      • Just read the fine print excludes some boxing day deals how does that work out?

    • This is a solid DSLR for a beginner. I started with the 18-55mm lens that came with the camera but switched to 35mm prime lens soon enough.

      • Cheers bodacious!
I was going to buy a lens in a separate transaction tonight but it seems from that T&C that I wouldn't get the store credit on that purchase so there's no need to rush into it.

    • +1

i got my lenses off ebay ….. especially if kogan do %off on ebay.

use the store credit for memory card and get them to price match .

  • Wow.. i was just about to go to Harvey norman, glad i checked the site before i left!!!

  • +2

Hmmm, are the overloaded or something .. can't do Pickup :
Sorry, we are unable to check store stock at the moment. Please try again later or contact your nearest store.

    • I'm getting the same problem, hopefully they sort it out quickly.

      • worked now, painfully slow checkout though

        • Thanks for the heads up, worked for me too!

    • Damn, only pickup option I can find is Penrith. Wonder if I could get them to send it closer to me.

  • can you just walk into the store and ask for the same deal? website is having problems selecting nearest store for pickup

    • looks like its working now

    • +1

No, I asked in store and you have to order online to get the discount. :(
Apparently this price is cheaper than the staff price, so it's a great deal!

  • can we price match with jb hifi as there is a $100 gift card

    • if it’s online only jb won’t price match …. has to be store walk in price.

  • Thanks OP, bought one. Was tempted by the HN price but the extra 15% sold it for me :)

  • thanks OP bought one. was initially having problem with click and collect. it worked now. hopefully will get 10% back as well via email credit.

  • Is this Breyer than the HN deal including the Amex cash back ?

    • -1

Is this Breyer than the HN deal including the Amex cash back ?

Surely you can do the really basic maths and post your workings? Would you like someone to drop around and wash your car, your dishes and do your laundry as well?

      • -2

What is the need to be rude ? If you don’t have an answer that is helpful, perhaps you shouldn’t respond at all.

  • Thanks op! I missed registration for the AMEX credits and was hating myself for not being able to get the HN deal. Not feeling too terrible about it now.

But damn I yet again shot myself in the foot by not clicking through CR for cashback. Wonder if I should purchase again and refund the first order…

  • Hard work to buy it but damn that is cheap, especially with the 10% store credit. Thanks OP.

  • Very good price. Would of been even bettter if they came with the VR version of the lens.

  • Thanks for the post!

  • Cheers ully, grabbed one.
What's the best lens to buy next to expand its abilities?

    • -1

buy a Canon camera to expand capabilities

      • you won’t get much canon for this price and it has more pixels on the sensor that the canon d1300 that was in one of the other deals…… i still have a canon and moved to nikon about 4 years ago as they always seem to deliver more per $ than canon and seem to set that pace by about 12 mths.

i’d love to get back into canon but they would have to up their pace .

        • more pixels on the sensor only means more noise, doesn't it? the only thing this Nikon is better at is video shooting, so if that's your thing, than yes. otherwise Canon cameras and lenses are just better, and better value, too.

all of my photo friends, some doing it for living, preached Nikon at some stage. how many of them have Nikon kits right now? zero :)

    • I'm considering this lens:
      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/nikon-af-s-dx-55-200mm-f45-56…

A decent cheap option for (slow moving) sports photography or better to save for something more expensive?

    • +1

I decided to get a Yongnuo 35mm prime lens. Yongnuo have pretty good reviews and and pretty cheap compared to alternatives.

  • -1

    The fool guys

  • Grabbed one. Thanks OP!

  • I love my D3300. Nice camera, been using mine since the OW/TGG pricematch some time ago now.…Great quality. I'm sure the D3400 will be a great purchase.

Good luck all! My D3300 was $298 after $100 cashback & I've been totally happy with it, ever since.

I ended up pairing with the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Lens for $99 from yet another OB deal.

    :)

    • I am interested in this 70-300 lens.Is it good for birdwatching, not very far away.

    • 100$ cash back from where? Didn't that basin end on 24th

  • Harvey Norman will price match this if purchased in last 7 days. Recently purchased the same camera for $397.

    • I assume they won't match a coupon though?

      • +2

Terms and conditions say they'll match any advertised or publicly accessible price. The price is advertised (note the banner on the link) and is publicly accessible.

They try to get out of it though. Much easier to just go directly to The Good Guys. In my case my sister had purchased one at Harvey literally an hour before this deal so we went back to collect the reimbursement of the difference.

        • Would I have a chance of getting a reimbursement if I went to a different HN than the one I originally bought my D3400 from?

        • @Bearinator:

Slim chance. They'll use any excuse they can to get out of it, that's handing them a huge excuse.

        • cash back from where? Didn't that basin end on 24th

        • @sivshen:

          What do you mean?

No cash back on this model, there was a 10% gift card back offer though.

  • Bought one… Thanks OP.
Any cheap memory card? Or does it come with one?

  • Tempted to buy to replace my D3100 as the 18-55 lens has a wobbly barrel (not sure how that happened).

Recently invested around $320 for just a 18-140 lens and a battery so you are getting a lot of hardware for the money here.

    • Since the 18-55 is just the bog standard lens that comes with it maybe try gumtree? People probably flog them when they upgrade.

    • i have the 18-140 sweet general purpose lens.

  • Thanks for posting this deal, I'm a DSLR newbie so thought this would be a great way to get started on a reasonable budget.

Just a question about the standard 18-55mm lens, will that be sufficient for a beginner starting out? Will it take much better pictures than my Nexus 5X or do I need to upgrade the lens to see a noticeable difference?

Truth be told I'm quite happy with the pictures my Nexus 5X takes, as a point and shoot it performs very well, I'm just hoping to see an immediate improvement even with the standard lens.

    • +1

even with the std lens it will out do the nexus , especially in low light conditions.

the laws of physics kick in with cameras …. the bigger the lens the more light you can capture, the better the image …. and this cameras then throws all that extra light onto a 24 megapixel sensor ….

the cameras in phones have limitations.

    • +1

There will be a huge difference in the quality of the photos, and you have a lot more options (optical zoom, more mps so you can blow it up/crop it), but nothing can beat the convenience of just using your phone to take snape. This camera has bluetooth though so you can transfer straight to your phone for IG purposes (if you are so inclined).

      • Yeah the biggest downside I find with my phone is that digital zoom just makes everything blurry so it's pretty pointless, I'll make good use of the optical zoom for sure.

Agreed nothing can beat the convenience of a phone, this will be primarily used for when I'm travelling. The trick would be to juggle all my devices, as I also have a GoPro as well!

Thanks for the advice it's good to know that even out of the box with the standard lens I can look forward to much better photos.

  • Is this camera better then the Canon 1300D purely due to the lens and other specifications ?

  • if i used this camera in purely point-and-shoot mode.. are there any benefits in using this camera over my galaxy s7 camera?

  • Out of stock :( Also, JB won't price match because it's out of stock RIP. Aww well, gotta get on it ASAP next time.

  • +3

So I went to 3 JB Hi-Fi stores this morning in Sydney CBD:

    Westfield Sydney HOME:
Would price match TGG's advertised price of $397 but no $100 coupon.

    Strand Arcade Pitt St Mall:
    Wouldn't price match at all.

    Galeries Victoria:
Price matched TGG's 15% off price of $337.45 and $100 coupon.
They had no stock left so I paid in store and picked up from Westfield Sydney HOME.

    • Wow, I would 100% get this if I could convince a JB to price match plus the coupon. Excellent bargaining skills!

  • Anyone still able to make this work? Can’t be found on their website anymore

    • I got screenshots of TGG offer (if needed)

Also Officeworks is selling for $397:
      https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/nikon-dslr…

Edit: Just notice OW is out of stock, so best would be getting JB to price match HN and get the $100 gift card.

      • +1

Went to two JBs. One said they only price match on local store (as in local Harvey Norman) and only if they have stock. As they didn’t they wouldn’t price match. I said I can just order online but nothing doing.
The second one would price match but said no $100 gift card. Ended up just getting it from Harvey Norman. Still a good deal

  • Nope, tried and it's not available to purchase any more.

Bought Nikon Coolpix B500 for $222 delivered instead, plus $20 cash back

  • whats the deal with warranty on this? do you have to register it or just keep the receipt?

  • +1

Purchased one from HN(Mornington) and got them to price match GG, they did. Plus with AmEx Offer (spent $400 get $100 back) on this camera comes in at $237 (obviously purchased some other items to bring the total to over $400). Also Nikon state the D3400 is under the Cashback Offer ($100), brings the camera to $137 (http://www.nikongiftcard.com.au)

    • How did you prove the good guys deal? It’s not in their website anymore. Also HN doesn’t seem to be a participating retailer of the cash back

      • This morning the GG website was up and running. Also the Nikon Cashback promotion advertising is on displayed at the HN store, HN(Chadstone) confirmed to apply online at the Nikon website to receive the caahback.

    • 11: Every valid and correct claim received will be awarded a $100 gift card, valid for use in any store nationally of the Participating Store at which the Eligible Product was purchased (i.e. if a claimant purchases their Eligible Product from a Participating Bing Lee Store then that claimant will receive a gift card valid for use in any Bing Lee store in Australia only). Participating Stores may refer to the gift card by different terminology (e.g. gift coupon, voucher, cash card, etc.), but for the purposes of these Terms and Conditions it will be referred to herein as a “Gift Card”. Gift Cards cannot be applied towards the Qualifying Purchase, and must be used towards a separate subsequent transaction.

12: If the Qualifying Purchase was made in-store, the Gift Card will be awarded at the register at the point of purchase. If the Qualifying Purchase was made online, the Gift Card will be awarded either via email or mail (depending on the Participating Store’s terms and conditions).

14: If for any reason a claimant does not take/redeem a gift at the time of purchase of an Eligible Product, then the gift will be deemed as forfeited by the claimant.

    • How did you claim cashback? Since HN isn't on the participating dealers list.

      • HN(Chadstone) confirmed their participation in the promotion.

        • How did you claim the cashback? In store or via their site. And if you did it via their site, where did you click because all I see is the eligible products but no way to claim cashback.

        • -1

          @Bearinator:

          canon website.

  • Can someone share their receipt showing price of $337?

    • I am looking for one as well.. thanks
