You can do now guys. (Well that was my experience anyway) Just got one 15 mins ago at OTR as I needed fuel at the time anyway. I just said to the guy at the counter can I get the free $10 Telstra sim kit advertised on your website atm he said sure.

Blowing up the terms and conditions, an active recharge is needed to access the data bank, and a $30+ recharge before expiry [7 days?] needed to save the data to the data bank for future use.

  Even if you haven't recharged, you can use the 10 GB in the week. But if you want to use the data after the seven days are over, you will need to recharge it.

  generally no. In the past i've heard of the >$30 ones being used for this purpose with phone support, but these days they're offshore robots so its hardly worth your time.

Do you need to recharge in order to access Telstra free wifi or just using the simcard gives you access?
