Hasn't there been big issues with getting Cashrewards to honour cashback with Optus?

    • +5

Worked for me last year and got paid out. Just use a new email with optus to be safe. That was the 2nd time I'd claimed too. Just used a different email each time

      • +1

When you use a new email, this is for registering the SIM card or for CashRewards login?

        • +1

          With optus

          • @Sammyboy: Did you used a SAME-NEW-email to,
            a.order, &
            b.activate
            Optus 365d prepaid? Thanks

      • @Sammyboy & all those who up-voted,

new email with optus to be safe

GAMBLING & TRANSPARENCY: NO-body really know the outcome until taken the risk & people suggesting method that have worked 🤔 🪤

From memory, Optus-link stated 'new CUSTOMER' @ this Apr-24 deal & seems like '1st ever sign-up' was the criteria-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/843556

This deal, Optus-link states 'new SERVICES only' but people suggest using a proven-method 'to be safe', https://www.optus.com.au/prepaid/sim-plans?irclickid=Su-w1-z…

Imo, a MINORITY will fail their money-back claims & will have NO-idea why: culprit was Optus or CashRewards? Maybe similar-people are commenting negatively @ this-post? Haven't we experiencED this via Amaysim-CashRewards monthly deals…maybe @ a LOWER-risk?

    • +2

Yes there has. They blame optus the last time a similar deal like this happened it wasnt honored.

      • Yes, my 100 cashreward is still pending since I brought this offer in Nov.

It is like > 6 mths already.

        • The one I got on nov got approved. But maybe I got lucky!!

    • Anyone, feel free to share YOUR-experience & thanks-> https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/884033

People are willing to risk $150 to save $74: 199-(275-150), same Optus-offer for $199, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/907434

IF-proceed, use your name (NOT-alias) to buy: likely that you'll need to provide ID to receive the parcel. My experience in Jan-25: Optus monthly-sim was sent via StarTrack as 'airlock'.

  • Great yes, but my Cashback took 5 months to approve

  • Bought one. Thanks OP. It says up to 120 days for approval. Let's see.

    • Tracked in a few minutes!

  • +3

My cashback from a similar optus deal took 11months to be paid out. Lots of back and forth with Cashrewards saying that werent going to honor it because i didnt click using Cashrewards. They'll make up anything to deny the payout

    • +1

      Sorry to hear.
All my transactions with Cashrewards and Shopback have been smooth (execept the once when I used an adblock browser, but got that sorted in the end).

I stay away from Topcashback, didnt have a good experience with them (cashback payout issue).

      • +1

" I am afraid it is the store that have told us your Optus Postpaid Mobile transaction was credited to another marketing channel instead of Cashrewards" from Cashrewards

Completely made up. I got my money in the end but im sure there are customers who would just accept this

        • Yep. Everyone said that Optus said the exact same thing for the deal you're referring to. How Cashrewards didn't think this was suspicious is beyond me

  • That will be an expensive sim if cashback not approved

  • Bought but so far no tracking from cr

    • +1

Bought a few mins ago and just got the tracked email.

      • +1

        Got tracked now

  • +5

I wish companies just email people discount codes instead of using these cashback parasites.

    • Probably the business model, bunch of people not getting the cashback and paying full price for something they might not really need.

      • I imagine they hold the cashback to earn interest for "x" amount and thats the business?

        • +1

Plus likely some commission fees as well.

      • +1

Business-model is base on growth: need REAL-users to join & increase the pool. They're using YOUR-money as working-capital. If ANY stop-trading, they can't payback ALL outstanding claims 😱. Risk small $, & short money-back period….oblivious to the risk?

Similar to banks creating money out-of-thin-air to give to borrowers….& Central-bankS creating EXTRA-zero on their system to buy Govt. debts/OVER-spends. This IS the financial-backbone that ENGINEER & BUILD everything you see & consume. We're all part of that system & it can't be allow to collapse.🤑🧐

  • Rubbish connection

    • i laugh at this stuff. cause its such a broad statement, I have dual sim 1 Telstra, and 1 Optus, Also vodafone as a test. I was out in regional and optus had coverage but vodafone did not this is due to Optus using the 700mhz band and Vodafone does not have access to that. smokes and mirrors after this regional deal. Telstra is shocking in the metro areas so consistently Optus is actually better, you get better experience and consistency and this shows in the results of OpenSignals report

i just bought mine from Officeworks at $189 i can't risk a deal like this

    • Is that a price match?

      • Yup just called up the store and they said no issues, some officeworks are funny about it not sure why

        • +2

My local OW get very stern faced, look concerned and make worried noises, call for the manager who always makes up an excuse and acts like ive asked to drop a turd on the floor. I then go to the next OW and they wont bat an eyelid over the price match or poop.

        • +1

can u share store & they really ok with matching cashback?

    • +1

      Why overlooked Kogan 500Gb $199, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/905441

      • +1

I need international call and I believe Optus is better than Vodafone.

    • +1

OMG I bought one at Coles the other day, didn't even think of pricebeat at officeworks. I need to be put in the sinbin

    • Price match with which company??

      Edit : found coles

    • Called OW on their 1300 and the operator won't do price match until they need to "verify" it is identical with the Coles one. Went to the Local OW store and they also refused to price beat due to there is no "barcode/item number" they can refer to say it is the "same item". Don't bother trying with OW with their price beat promise and it is just a joke. They are so dodgy.

High value Optus cash back deals (from ShopBack or Cash Rewards) should be banned on OzB until Optus starts actually paying out.

At best, it's false advertising that sometimes works; at worst - an intentioned scam.

    • +1

Optus doesn't pay, cashrewards pays us after what ever they get from Optus.
2 of 2 tracked, 120 days till payment.

  • +1

Upvoted because I bought 3 Optus sims over a few months under a similar deal with cashrewards and although they took a while to pay, they all came through in something like six months and tracked for a total of $290.

  • +1

I saw in the T&C for Cashrewards indicate no eSIM.

Does it mean I need to get the SIM option and later go to Optus to covert to eSIM?

    • correct but i would wait until you got your cashback as its tracked based on the order if you convert then you have effectively left in cashrewards mind

  • Well I saw there's $12 Cashback on $13 SIM (RRP $39) for 45 GB
Good deal for $1 effectively but looks like getting the Cashback is a serious problem.

I am looking for some no-cost, high-data 1 month SIM. Any recommendations?

    • -1

You'll have better luck getting a smaller cashback than a large 3 digit one.

    • That should do you

  • +1

Note, per terms, cashback is ineligible for esim.

    • +1

U.will.find a store to help you out AFTER cashback is paid.

      • which will take 6-11 months according to previous deals ;s

        • Current one states 120 days so lets c

  • Does optus give an option to pick a new number or is it random?

  • +2

    Just purchased.
Tracked in 7 minutes from purchase. Only plan on activating the sim in July, which should be fine as dont see anything in the terms to activate in a certain time frame.

Ive never had any issues with cashbacks from Cashrewards and Shopback.
Just make sure to shop using the app or a browser without any ad blocking. I used Brave browser last time and had an issue with tracking but Cashrewards team helped me after I lodged a missing cashback.

Edit: Thanks OP for posting this! Good deal for a 300gb 1 year sim plan.

    • CR T&C's says need to activate within 28 days of purchase.

  • +1

Not suggest Optus if you travel overseas, Optus disable your service on purpose if you don't have an active roaming Extra, which means you cannot receive any verification SMS.

    • +1

Not sure why you are getting downvoted.
Optus prepaid when overseas won’t even authenticate on to a network to receive SMS for free unless you purchase some form of roaming add-on or extra credit.

  • Just tracked, I think cash rewards have upped their game, have not had optus plan for quite some time though.

  • Thanks OP. Just got one. Tracked in a few minutes!

  • Anybody know what's the latest date for me to activate this plan? I currently hold another prepaid plan and it will be expired in Aug. Can I activate this plan in Aug?

    • +1

I would be surprised if its old stock.

Sim i bought from Coles deal has an expiry of January 2027

      ( purchased yesterday)

    • Same here, my sim is going to expire at the end of Aug. I think i will buy it at the end of June.

    • +1

Nothing listed on this particular plan but I eventually found T & C's for all plans that say the following: Activate included SIM within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions.

Since nothing written on plan I assume the 30 days after purchase applies and deal ends 30/6.

My current KOGAN 365 expires end July so this won't work for me either. Hopefully more deals coming later this month for EOFY.

      • +2

When I asked customer service they said I could activate it whenever I wanted. I think maybe the 30 days is for any promotional specials offered as part of the plan?

        • +1

Last deal the cashreward required to activate it within one month, but I didn't see any requirements in this deal. Im not sure if it is still required to activate the sim plan within on month to get the cashback.

  • +2

$150 tracked. be careful, Don't buy the esim. only the normal sim.

    • Why? Oh cos of cashback right?

    • The Cashreward site did say "$350-365 day prepaid SIM + eSIM - $150"

  • +1

    Tracked!

  • I had done this for a previous deal. It tracked and paid within 2-3 months and had no issues. Good deal.

  • +1

I had a good experience from the previous deal, it tracked and paid out in few months.

  • Hi guys, if you bought last time what expiry date did sim pack have? I want to buy one for my kid and plan is expiring in December….

    • Nothing listed on this particular plan about activation but I eventually found T & C's for all plans that say the following: Activate included SIM within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised on a promotion, whichever is earlier, to receive advertised inclusions.

Since nothing written on this current discounted plan I assume the 30 days after purchase applies and deal ends 30/6.

My current KOGAN 365 expires end July so this won't work for me either. Hopefully more deals coming later this month.

      • +1

Even in the worst-case scenario where the “advertised inclusions” don’t apply due to delayed activation, which I don’t think is the case anyways, the plan would just revert to the standard $350 Optus Flex Plus offer. It will still give you 220GB of data, unlimited calls/texts, and international minutes for 365 days. Hope that helps!

        • Last deal the cashreward required to activate it within one month, but I didn't see any requirements in this deal. Im not sure if it is still required to activate the sim plan within on month to get the cashback.

  • Does this need activating beforehand?

  • Will this track if you are an existing optus post paid customer?

    • use a new email address to activate.

      • It doesn't matter if using a same number later?

        • If you port-in from other provider, no problem.

  • +1

tracked ! received 10 mins after make purchase via web

  • When do I need to activate it?

    • Keen to know this too

    • CR T&C's says need to activate within 28 days of purchase.

  • Thanks OP, bought one and received cashback tracked within 5mins.

  • Order from earlier this year didn't track after a week. Cashrewards had to manually add it but i finally got my $58 cb paid out earlier this week. Promo price was $240 - $58 = $182 in the end.

  • Are you eligible for the $12 cashback on the $13 deal as well as this one? Or does it have to be different email address?

Also once you activate the physical sim can you change it to an eSIM straight away and still be eligible for cashback?

  • Will this work if I have had a prepaid (has since been expired) with Optus in the past?

  • +1

Can't trust Cashrewards. I had a Hotel (agoda) cashback that automatically tracked via their site (no dispute or support intervention). I completed my stay at the hotel, waited a few weeks/months as noted in their terms, and then suddenly it went to $0 saying that it did not originate from their site when I contacted support. You can't trust these people.

  • Can i buy two sim plans in two different transactions from the same account? Will it track $300?

    • I bought 2 Optus prepaid SIMs in 2 separate transactions with the same account in Dec 2024 and received 2 lots of Cashreward cashbacks.

      • Great thank you

  • Does it work if I am with amaysim? Or do I have to port to Vodafone or telstra and then come back

    • +2

I ported from Catch (Optus) to Optus and there were no issues. Transfer was completed in about 20 minutes.

      • in 20 mins after receiving physical sim or did you port to esim?

        • Using a physical SIM. Transfer took about 20 mins after activating it online.

  • +2

Cash rewards app says SIM+eSIM though.

End of last year there was a similar deal. Got it for my son and it was all good.

My plan with Kogan (e-SIM) just expired and this is pretty much the best 365day plan i can find at 275-150 = $125.

Did that last night, whole process took about 15min and all good. Tracked in Cashreward already.
