Sounds like a system glitch. Doubt they would honor it but here's to hoping for a great start to the new year ;)

    • -2

Sure it is a price error but why would people need 2 or 3?
Is there anyone using two or three of these in a practical situation?

      • +3

“One example would be assigning a smart speaker to say, the kitchen. By doing this, you could turn off the lights, appliances, and the music streaming on that speaker simply by saying “turn off kitchen.” It’s a pretty minor thing, but the intention is clear.

By adding functionality like this, Google Assistant speakers can better adapt to having multiple units spread throughout the home.”

      • It's not a price error. It's part of their promo.

        https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/cs/groups/public/documents/gr…

Two Home Minis for the price of one ($78), plus one bonus one.

        • +1

          You added the “plus”

        • @stickymoo: If you're getting 3 for $78, that's the only logical way to read the promo.

Maybe that isn't what they meant, but in a hypothetical scenario where the buyer got their 3 minis for $78 online order and TGG decided to sue and get one back, I don't think their case would hold up in court.

      • +2

2 or 3 is actually very useful.
They have an intercom function so can repeat a message around a large house, eg "diner is ready".
Plus get full house coverage, they are really only good for the room they are in and most houses have multiple zones the family will split into.

With more home automation like lights control full coverage becomes even more important.

      • yep…one in each toilet…they apprantly integrate well with the xiaomi toilet seat for a truly hands-free experience

        • Really? So the Xiaomi toilet seat can also wipe your bottom for you?

          @edfoo:

I'm assuming it comes with a bidet, so yes, it can.

        • +1

          @edfoo:
The bidet is one of its main features…

Well there goes having a google mini for every kid in my classroom - looks like I’ll actually have to teach this year after all…

    • +2

A few years they had a glitch on batteries.

Bought 150 batteries for $10. All orders honored

    • Damn, got a cancellation notice, not voucher yet. Anyone has anything better?

      • Not seen anything yet. Just double checked emails/junk folder.

      • When did you order? I have not got any. I ordered at 12.15am.

        • after i saw the deal, bought 2 for $8

u didn't post the deal? where's ozbargain spirit?

          I ordered at 12.15am

        • @alexGoodwin: hm.. i bought it soon after OP posted the deal. May be it was not 12.15am.

        • Any news yet, I ordered at 11:45pm qld time, got the 'order received' email but nothing since.

        • @Unclefugger:
Maybe it's worth giving it a try going to the store to collect, I've done that but no luck. Even now on the website there's no ghm available at my store.

  • Not at bad way to start the new year.

    Bought 2 for $8 delivered

    • +15

How!? it's showing each as original price of $78 :(

Edit: I'm an idiot. Went on Bing Lee instead.

    • Me too

    • +3

Same. Buy first think later - that's the OzB way. (Also don't forget Cash Rewards).

      • +7

Yeah…i think the fun part is to see how they handle the mistakes.

        • what will they do? i think they will probably refund all the orders.

      • By the time you apply cash rewards, good guys will be paying you to take the Google Home minis! ;)

    • +4

Yes, somehow it auto applied a -$156 discount on them for me.
I doubt it will be honoured.

      • -7

Surely tTGG cannot claim TWO glitches on the same product.

At some point companies need to suck it up and just honour their mistake.

    • +4

Same, ordered in hope for store credit. Rather have $8 on hold for a refund then $78

      • +1

Same-2 for $8 delivered through PayPal

    • Did you get some message saying there was some error when paying if you paid with PayPal? It said this

The store has encountered a problem processing the last request. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your site administrator.

I thought they must've caught on and fixed it, but eventually it just said the payment was complete, and now I have an email from TGG saying they got my order.

      • Nope I just ordered. Worked fine with me.

        • Yeah it worked fine for me too, just had some weird error for a bit, and my order was confirmed and paid for after. I'm gonna be really surprised if they actually send them out.

      • Yeah, I got the same error. However payment was taken. Fingers crossed.

        • i got error on paypal, and tgg website says paypal not complete. however money was tooken and received tgg order confirmation email. wait and see. i hope they could give out at least $10 store credit.

        • Have you heard anything from them yet? I'm in the same boat. No order confirmation email yet, just the paypal one.

pricing errors galore at Good Guys this month. first with boxing day camera sales, now this.

EDIT: actually not a pricing error, cos on the label says one extra Google Mini per transaction. these things are just getting thrown away now. not long til there's three for $20.

    • +4

god wants them out there so they relfine their AI and voice recognition software …. so even if they were selling them at cost to manufacturer google would still be achieving its goal.

don’t think of them as a gadget to be sold and make a profit, think of them as a proble to collect data.

to use google AI and voice recognition you need to use google cloud services ….. a paid service …… and google wants the edge over microsoft , amazon and ibm who are the big players in this area, and google and amazon are leading by having devices for people’s homes,

      • How do you know God is working for Google though?

i kinda thought you were respectable, but it's dodgy to make a separate thread for upvotes for something that clearly is not going to work. leave it in the other thread and stop fishing so hard for upvotes..

      • +3

Hold that thought cause I was the second person to report my deal as dupe when I saw someone had mentioned this same method in original post

      • +2

i appreciated the separate thread, was notified via email subscription.

    • Bought!

    • +7

Most people wouldn't know if it is left to the comments of the other thread. I say different deal is a new deal. I wouldn't have looked at the other post cuz wasn't in the market for these.

    • +3

No nearby store so just selected delivery ($5) - did not need to add another product.
      Order accepted

    • lets talk about how much store credit would they give us if they are not going to honer this. ordered one chalk and one charcoal. and telstra $2 sim for pick up. will they still want my $2, if they do not honer those minis

      • I would say $1.97 minus taxes

        • +1

lol, i am start thinking choose delivery is better option that won't give them a chance to charge my $2 or anything.

    • -4

but do you guys really think Gerry Harvey is gonna give stuff away out of the goodness of his heart? he's been the biggest scum in Australian retail for 30 odd years, no one is getting anything

      • +1

        Added to title

      • +1

        Gerry! Heh.

      • +1

Gerry Harvey? Isn’t this the good guys LOL

      • +1

        when did gerry buy TGG

      • +14

Gerry gets blamed even when it's not his store :D poor bugger hahaha

        • +1

Gerry will get lots of blame when the Harvey Norman Tax comes in.

P.S. its not the Netflix tax or Google Tax it's the Harvey Norman tax.

He pushed for it he should get full credit.

        • +3

global warming is also Gerrys' fault he should only sell appliances with high star ratings for energy efficiency.

      • HN? or TGG???

      • lol JB hifi owns TGG, not Gerry. unless you know something we dont.

    • Worth a try

    • +1

It's just a shame I can't get them delivered to my house, and apparently every store in metro Brisbane is out of stock. (profanity) hell good guys, sort out your website…

      • Lol … Sounds like they have sold out, and probably don't do rain checks.

    • got 2. thanks!

    • No stores in WA for pick up :((

      • Chalk color is showing as available in store at Osborne Park when I checked earlier

      • Midland worked fine for me

        • Thnks, but does not work now.

    • I don't think that will work.

But i bought it anyway XD. Call it the extreme ozbargainer spirit?

    • I am confused
      Why is this so cheap?

  • -2

Should have kept it to yourself for a slim chance of getting it as it's clearly a mistake that won't be honored after they sell tens of thousands at $0 price :)

    • -1

It doesn't go through. Comes up as an error on checkout

  • +1

Well if you order three you get the discount of $156. So technically it's about 9 speakers for about $78?

  • +9

yep. 2 for $8 delivered. see what they says tomorrow. too good if they honour, but they are the good guys.

    • Yeap trying that. Through PayPal

      • Let me know how the PayPal process goes for you, just checked out and there was some really weird problem encountered issue that popped up after clicking pay now on PayPal, then it said your payment is complete and I got a TGG email confirming my order. Hopefully it gets honored!

        • My payment via PayPal didn't go through. I ended up paying via my credit card.

        • I did both, ordered 4 in two separate orders one to me, and the others to my parents house. Both went through, but I guess it's up to TGG if we get them or not.

        • Just finished placing an order, no errors at all from TGG site however the order confirmation email states the price for the Home Minis as NaN.

  • +2

    Ordered, hope they honour it.

    • Then why no up-vote :P

      • Chasing karma :P

Just hanging around for the comments now, im on night shift so this will keep me busy.
