          @Bargs:

But the picture on the site specifically said "2 for the Price of 1", that's not false advertising. The coding was just wrong to give $156 off rather than $39 each..

If it said "2 for the Price of 1, plus 1 extra", then sure, that makes sense. Can't see any way the ACCC would consider this a case considering the blatant misuse of the site in some cases. Not the 3 for $78's, but 2 for $8.

        • @doweyy: It said 2 for one and it also said one bonus mini per order. I admit it's a stretch, but it's not impossible to interpret this as 2 for the price of 1 + 1 additional bonus.

But glad to see you agree with me on the ACCC.

    • You have the right, as a consumer, to find out what you're entitled for. I think there's no harm calling ACCC for opinions, if you think it's worth your time doing so. Their advice may be beneficial for future references as pricing errors happen quite often.

  • Who else is waiting for their refund? Lmao

    • Me…i have $105.95 with them. I will just wait until Monday before giving them, The Slow Guys a call.

  • Here is what I got :

    Delivery Instructions:
    - 2. Order Type:- PICKUP

    Backorder

    I ordered 3 for $78

They just ditched 2 and processed the order like I said it's ok, like I have selected to buy 1 for $78!

This is fraud! I haven't been informed that it's an error or asked do I want 1 or none, But they do know to process a PayPal payment straight away, that they know to do.

    • +1

No, they cant do that. If they start doing that to existing orders then they are giving customers a chance to lodge a complaint against them.

    • wow

    • +1

Same here. Paid for 3, got 2 delivered.
      Opened a Paypal dispute.

      • +2

Wondering why they are doing this…making the issue even bigger

        • +1

I think they presume that people will just accept 2 and not fight it.

  • Anyone know if there is a contact number for the online part of goof guys? I want to confirm that my whole order will be cancelled but i have no record of the transaction in my orders so have no idea where its at.

    • when i called the general number yesterday and waited for over half an hour as they had so many calls, they confirmed that all online orders involving the mini had been cancelled. They said that the other items you have on the online order had to be re-ordered if you want them. Not sure what individual stores are doing for pick up?

      • +1

Have you scrubbed the jingle out of your brain yet?

        • Why the Neg? The Good Guys jingle gets stuck in your head when you get put on hold. Geez can't take a joke.

        • +2

DId you get negged for that by someone? Sorry. I thought it was quite appropriate as I was getting rather annoyed at the hold 'music' on loop. I have just voted a positive. So back to square :)

        • @marketingpolice:

          Aww thanks marketingpolice :) :)

  • I never received an email the following day like they said. Only got one yesterday with an invoice for -$8. Nothing was mentioned about being a mistake or even an apologie. No money was transferred back to my paypal

    • Your money is in their control why would they have the sense of urgency to transfer it back to you? They think if you are in a hurry to get it back you can just open a paypal dispute.

    • Just got a tax invoice for -$8 with "Order Cancellation Fee" in the description. Still nothing from PayPal, or anything about the 3 for $78 order, but that'll most likely end up cancelled too.

Oh well, was worth a shot I guess.

    • I am the same FXXk

  • Email came through. Order cancelled :(

  • Still waiting on two cancellation emails….

  • +2

Anyone else still have their order status as Active but marked as 'BackOrdered'? Their taking a while to get around to cancelling mine.

    • Re read the email, mine looked like that but says I've paid no fee for a cancellation…

      • I haven't got an email saying that.

  • +1

Got a phone call from local store and got the tax invoice for 3 google mini, will pick up this weekend, hopefully they won't change their mind.

  • Anyone receive their refund yet?

    • No; Good Guys took $8 on Jan 1st but apart from the initial standard email (most) people received, have not received a refund yet … Jan 7th. Doesn't sound like they are in any particular hurry to do so. I'd love to know how many people ordered and are still waiting for the refund.

      • +2

Yeah I’m waiting on 2 refunds - order 1 for $8 & order 2 for $86. Have escalated it with PayPal.

Will keep everyone here posted once I hear back from PayPal!

        • Cheers 👍

        • +1

          @JediJan: Quick update.

PayPal update for order 1: Seller issued refund ($8). Still waiting on an update for order 2 ($86).

Will take a few days for the refund to come through to my credit card so let's see :)

        • @PLA74:
          Thanks.
          Must check on mine.

        • +1

@JediJan: Other order ($86) refund message received via PayPal escalation :)

        • @PLA74: My refund has just come through via PayPal.

I'd still love to know how many people they had to refund too.

        • +1

          @JediJan: Awesome. Lol yeah :)

        • @JediJan: Refund finally came through to my credit card for both orders :)

  • Just got a tax invoice today, no cancellation emails yet.

  • I got the order confirmation from GG but no cancellation email yet. Any advice what shall I do?

    • +1

Same, confirmation for order but nothing for cancellation.
I just tried sending them an enquiry through their site and got this message "The store has encountered a problem processing the last request. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your site administrator." Can't see anywhere on the site for their customer service contact number.

  • No cancellation email, just an invoice emailed showing transaction cancelled.

  • +1

received nothing yet, no communication at all, no refund.

  • +14

Shouldn't we all launch a PayPal dispute for the shipping fee they took?

    • +1

      You have my support.

      • +1

That would save them from sorting out the problem of "refund", just another Drag-tactic till we give up.

    • I already have but no reply-maybe someone should get in contact with PayPal on behalf of all of us and point them to this thread and ask them to figure out what to do. I am waiting until Monday to make it a claim.

      • Good idea, but then again if we flood PayPal with these enquories it may possibly make the process even slower. Would you send them link when you contact them? I was waiting until Monday as well.

  • They have cancelled two of my orders, but charged me Aud 86 for 6 Google Home Minis.
I sent them a message on Facebook.
Let's see. Either send me the goods, or refund me the money.😃

    • One of your orders was for 6 minis costing $86 ?

  • +5

    Still waiting for refund, jerks.

      • +7

No, they were the ones who made a pricing error.

        Ie. it was THEIR ERROR.

So, they need to make things right. Ie. refund quickly.

        • -3

All of us knew it was likely a pricing error.

        • -1

          Agree.
          Their pricing error.
          No excuse to delay refund.
          None at all.

        • So many entitled people here. :)

        • +1

          @eug:
TGG price for 1 GHM on the 31st Dec was $54 and there was a banner there that says 2 for the price of 1 ($27 each I assumed) from 1st Jan. I added 2 to my cart before midnight. After that I decided to add another 2 to my cart but was max allowed was 3. Total came to $78, meaning $26 each and I paid for it. So am I not entitled to get 3?

        • @ausvicee: Was the banner there on the 31st of Dec when the price was $54? Or did you see the $54 price on the 31st, then the banner on the 1st when the pricing error happened?

You added two to cart and the total was $0 - clearly there was an error with the website. All of us knew that. We all had to game the system by adding the cheapest item we could find to allow checkout to work.

The banner very clearly said receive two for the price of one, not three for the price of one. I took "1 bonus Google Home Mini per transaction" to mean "If you buy one, you'll get one free. If you buy two in one transaction, you'll still only get one free".

We all couldn't complete checkout without adding another cheap item. Some people gamed it further and bought 4 for $16. Does that not look like an error? A Google Home Mini for $4?

It was very obvious their website had an error, and we all thought we'd try our luck. We didn't win this time, so we shouldn't be "jerks" and get pissed off at TGG for being slow on refunding hundreds or thousands of orders. We all put one order in which was quick for us, but they probably only have a small team of people who now have to manually refund hundreds or thousands of orders - of course they're going to take some time.

We are not entitled to pricing mistakes. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. We entered this gamble with the full knowledge that it was a pricing error (c'mon now - checkout didn't work unless it was gamed), so when it doesn't go our way, we shouldn't be sooks and moan about it. We'll all get our money back, it just won't be immediate. That's life.

I really feel like all these possible-price-error deals should be posted with a very clear disclaimer that the purchase might be cancelled, buy at your own risk, and not to whine about it if it gets cancelled.

        • @eug: Customer is always right.

        • +1

@eug: "We all couldn't complete checkout without adding another cheap item" Not me :) I just paid $8 shipping. Still want my $$ back. JERKS.

        • +1

          @eug:
"We all couldn't complete checkout without adding another cheap item."

I didn't need to add any other items

        • @eug:
Yes, but far better than the other way around.

        • @coco91:

          Customer is always right.

If it was your business and your money on the line, I bet you would cancel everyone's orders too. :)

"We all couldn't complete checkout without adding another cheap item" Not me :) I just paid $8 shipping.

So you 100% knew it was a pricing error then.

Still want my $$ back. JERKS.

Of course you'll get it back. You just can't expect them to refund thousands of orders quickly.

          @swimmingtoad:

I didn't need to add any other items

So it was even more obvious that it was a pricing error then.

Of course we all want our money back. We will get it back, we just can't expect them to refund hundreds or thousands of orders overnight as it would have to be manually done. People here call them jerks when all of us were clearly trying to game the system to get very, very cheap items. Instead, we've all given their web team a whole lot of extra work to do.

We should not just think about ourselves all the time - if we were in their position, we'd probably be thinking everyone were jerks for trying to game the system and giving them extra work. Sure it was their mistake, but we shouldn't be jerks and be pissed off at them when we clearly knew we were trying to take advantage of their mistake for our own personal gain.

        • @ausvicee:
That image clearly shows the 2 for 1 deal starts Jan 1st, and the $54 price ends Dec 31st. Did you misread it?

        • +1

@eug: Relax, I'm not expecting them to ship the item. I think 1 week is reasonable time to pay back refunds. My jerks comment was in jest.

        • @eug:
It is misleading…or at least intention to mislead. Why can't they publish their prices like David Jones and Bigw…2 for $79

        • -1

@ausvicee: Hmm, it doesn't look misleading at all to me.

The banner is only two lines of text. The first three words of the first line is in bold and says "STARTS JAN 1st".

The text below the $54 price clearly says "ends 31st Dec", and it's surrounded by sufficient whitespace that it stands out and isn't buried like fine print.

In any case, I really think the fact that you could either buy 2 for $0 plus $8 shipping, or have to add a cheap item to make checkout work, would quite clearly mean there's a pricing error.

So going back to your original question, I do not think you're entitled to 3 because you didn't read the clear line under the $54 price that said that price ended Dec 31st, and the subsequent $78 for 3 deal was a price error on their website.

          @coco91:

My jerks comment was in jest.

That's fine, but unfortunately other people here don't understand that things like this take a bit of time.

  • +1

I have only had a general email (like everyone else) that all orders are cancelled. No tax invoice, no refund etc etc. I can't be bothered waiting so have opened communications through paypal.

    • -5

Won't that just slow things down for everyone? If everyone did it, they'd have double the amount of paperwork/processing to deal with.

  • +1

Below is part of the second email I received from GG detailing the cancellation.

"In the coming business days, our online support team will be working to cancel and refund any transactions incorrectly charged. We apologise for any confusion and inconvenience this has caused."

  • +1

try sending an email to [email protected] which is their disputes email, they recently changed their general PayPal email from this to [email protected].

  • +3

I want a refund too, but realise that there are probably thousands they have to refund so it may take a while to refund everyone.

    • +2

Clearly amateur hour at TGG as someone said. It’s been quite a few days since the 1st of Jan and they’ll “sort it out” in the coming business days. The fact that some ppl have the google mini refund but not the delivery charge is a worry. Probably best to go through PayPal rather than wait for them to rectify their mistakes…

      • +1

Really???? They are gonna take the delivery costs for refusing an order?

I couldn't use paypal, so I had to use credit card…

        • I always use PayPal.
          PayPal will always assist.
There is a (min/max) time frame to observe though.

  • +1

Hope this might help add to knowledge base.

I ordered 3 x Minis, 1 x 16GB USB, plus delivery. Checked out as a guest but took a screenshot. I didn't get a confirmation email so later in the day I checked my Amex and the total $95 was showing as "Pending". At that time I didn't think the order would be processed so didn't up vote.

On the 2nd January I got the "we're sorry but your order has been unsuccessful" email. No surprise, but when I checked Amex, the $95 had been charged.

    2ND JANUARY..
    * Phoned our local Good Guys, lady there tried to be helpful. Went through Mini orders they had, then looked in system for my order, no record of order. Suggested I phone customer service.

    • Phoned Customer Service. After a long wait spoke to a guy, not so helpful, but probably inundated with Mini enquiries. I told him I wasn't complaining about the order not being accepted however I did not understand why it was charged if it wasn't processed. He said he did not know but if I got the email a refund was "automatic". He said it would be in my account in 48 hours, if not, call back. I didn't feel confident about the "automatic" refund so..

    • Phoned the store in VIC identified by Amex as putting through the charge (I'm in NSW). Lady was helpful but said no record of the order.

    5TH JANUARY…
Allowed 72 hours but no refund in my Amex account so phoned Customer Service in the late afternoon. Was told the order had been processed by Head Office
and after some pushing she agreed to ask for refund to be expedited.

TODAY … Refund now appears in Amex account, dated 4th January.

I have had zero communications about this. I ordered 2 for $8 delivered, paid with CC.

  • +1

I had order confirmation but no cancelled or refund email. Have submitted report a problem through PayPal. Will wait for Goodguys reply.

    • +1

Let me know if you get a reply. I submitted it on the 3rd and no reply yet :(.

      • +1

        Sure.

      • +1

I got email from PayPal mentioning amount $8 has been credited. Case closed.

  • +1

I finally got order confirmation and cancelation email. First advice since the original email advice.

  • +4

So, what is the best way to get our 8 dollars shipping back? Call customer service? Email? PayPal dispute?

  • I think we all learnt our lesson…

    • +4

      What lesson?

    • +1

      Yeah what lesson is that?

    • +4

Try, try and try again? :D

    • +4

Gotta be in it to win it?
      Who dares wins?
What is the lesson?? Don't leave us hanging!
