[PRICE ERROR] Google Home Mini - 3 for $78 at The Good Guys Online

Tried adding 2 to cart, total was $0, however I couldn't proceed to payment. Added another one, promotional code was applied automatically. Total $78 for 3.

Edit: Add the cheapest item you can find (easternculture found sim card) and complete payment

Mod 8/1: Users who purchased 3 for $78, 2 for $8 or similar combinations have had their orders cancelled during the past week. Refunds have started today. Moved to forum as a confirmed price error.

          it even says the $2 telstra sim card with the pick up order is backordered for some reason.

          Probably because everyone else also ordered the SIM card. Lets hope they don't cancel the Minis and charge $8 to deliver the $2 SIM.

          Just did one for pick up and once for delivery to cover both in case one or the other got through.

    • Mine also says backordered and still shows in my order history. Didn't get the Sim, but paid $10 for my shipping due to being in a country area. Not expecting anything to come of it though.

  • Price has been fixed as I had some still in my cart but it doesn't take off any discount so the 2 for $78 has been stopped. My order says it is backordered but don't have much hope it being honoured.

    Another family member has no order history and a friend has backordered and then it disappeared.

    Got a "Tax Invoice" which says "Order Cancellation Fee" as the description and -$8.

    It then says at the bottom "*A cancellation fee may be charged upon cancellation of any sales order for reserved goods."

    Does this mean they're pocketing the $8?

    OK, SO i just received the ready for pickup email. sent wife to give it a try. will let you guys know if i am lucky or i am "in trouble". lol

      UPDATES:i am in trouble now, wife is angry that i asked her drive 30 mins for nothing. and from TGG side, order will be cancelled. in store staff did not mention anything else as they sure do not have further info.

    Spoke to my local Good Guys store and they have been told not to process these due to the website error.

        I bought an item with them and will be annoyed if I am charged for it to be delivered. Given delivery costs more with the google homes. Hopefully they give the option to cancel the entire order.

    They could have at least apologised in the email.
    It was obvious that they wouldn't honour the sale but the email didn't sound very polite. Maybe the person who typed it up was under stress?

      They wanted to sound firm and assertive. If they apologize profusely for their mishap, then customers might feel cheated and within their rights to expect some sort of compensation for the mistake. By being authoritative, they will decide on their own terms on what to do next.

        I can follow that logic but no one is asking for profuse apologies. A simple "sorry we had a technical issue" doesn't expose them to compensation claims under consumer law. I think going too aggressive can affect their brand and the perception of good customer service.

    Well The Good Guys should refund me the cost of me using my internet to get the item, compensation for my stress causing me to nearly (a bit of exaggeration) have a heartattack, the cost of electricity, compensation for the time I wasted (they say time is money) and a refund for the items I bought.

  • Email did not say that the order is cancelled. It just says the order cannot progress today but the order status will be updated tomorrow.

    I would suggest ghost staff in main office is the reason for the delay to tomorrow.
    Kinda guessed where it was going when orders turned to "backordered" .. that along with the email sent to store staff telling them not to honour it.
    Looks like the backordering is their way of putting orders on hold till more staff can go through and find the ones that had 2 for $0 and work with customers regarding their orders (I would think anyone that just paid the shipping will get an automatic refund of their order and sorry email) and those who ordered something else alongside the mini's communication regarding if they want the other items in their order or a full refund

    and.. for those who posted with anger, suggesting compensation, contacting ACA and so on (seriously) .. get over it :) we all knew it was not right and ordered with hope it would be honoured, but without expectation.. if you expected it then that's your issue, not TGG's… i am sure there is a sale on tissues somewhere ;) .

      they did nothing against the rules of fair trading.. the catalogue and website both stated 2 for the price of 1 .. so it was not false advertising .. it was an error with the website coding.
      time and effort? lol took me less than 2 minutes

      you can still get the mini's from TGG or other's that have similar 2 for 1 deals
