NEW10

Officeworks has been removing their ebay site during 10% off promos, but with the targeted code they haven't done this. From looking at the NEW10 page, there's quite a few people who are targeted so this should be good for anyone who has missed out recently.

All 3 colours are available for this price.

As always, enjoy!

Please note: This is a targeted deal, try the code at checkout to see if it works for you.

  • Not Working ..Seeing "Looks like that's the wrong code. Please double-check and try again." Error

    • +2

Yep, it's a targeted deal unfortunately as explained in the OP. If you get that message then your account missed out, same happened with me but thought I'd share for others.

  • Is it worth changing the battery on my mum's original iPad air for like $130 or buying this? Has much changed in a couple years?

    • +2

each new version ipad is at least 10% faster, 2 generations from yours would be around 25% faster….

still, i will stay away from apple if i could(especially for assignment) , the hardware is fully optimised for new version and left the older version slower

      • MADE the older version slower…

        • Planned obsolescence…..

    • Give DIY a go?

    • The new one is a bit faster and has fingerprint to unlock. My original iPad air from 3.5 years was in pristine condition but it was slowing down a little. I sold mine for $230 and bought this current one for $370 at JB (Price match and discounted JB cards). So, I only paid $140 to get the new one but I still haven't updated the new one to iOS 11 yet.

      • +2

ios11 should be optimised for ipad 2017, give it a go?

the good thing will be swiping up on screen avoiding pressing the home button (easily broken)

        • Thanks. Will update it soon.

    • If you’re having battery issues, at $130 just replace it. I have the 2017 iPad and it’s practically the same as my old iPad Air was (size and screen). Definitely not worth three times the price if you already have an Air.

      • Fair enough might just do that. It's $130 at Apple and $125 at most random mobile stores so it must be pretty tricky to change since no one really does it for a cheap price. It's times like these I hate integrated batteries.

      • My current iPad Air has been lagging and slowing down a lot lately, is the 2017 iPad worth it for the faster processor and overall performance? I don't really care about laminated display and whatnot.

  • +1

whats the regular price on this ipad? and is it comparable to the pro?

    • +2

Officeworks have had it for $397 for a few weeks, but hasn't dropped below that in quite a while. RRP is $449.

    • The Pro costs twice as much. Technically it is faster and has a better screen, however test them side by side and you’ll see no tangible or noticeable difference. It also has some extra features like better sound and the ability to use the pencil accessory.

      • The screen is significantly better in the Pro, and the speakers are awesome if you watch a lot of media. I have a 2017 iPad (got it on the cheap $20/mth Telstra deal last year) and am seriously considering a Pro for those reasons.

  • -3

oh is this the dodgy version that they made so that people will buy the Pro series instead, was just researching and was wondering about the low price

    • +2

Honestly you wouldn’t know the difference. When they’re up to iOS14 in three years time the Pro might be in front performance wise but for now I’d only recommend the Pro if there is a specific reason (pencil etc) - for the same price you could get an iPad today and replace it with the current model in 3 years.

      • -4

not a fan of ipad, looking at upgrading my mum's one.

Just remembered reading something along these lines last year… so openly dodgy

    • +3

What is dodgy about it? I've been using the 128Gb version of this for several months now - pretty heavy usage too (music recording and production). All works as it says on the tin.

      • He/she said dodgy on "pricing". The price is never printed on Apple tin.

    • It's fine, my dad has the 128gb wifi and cel for anyone who wants an ipad they work well and if you don't need to draw then it's really good.

    • not dodgy version but the best version for little kid.

  • +2

my old ipads are slowing down .. so might be time to upgrade.

    • +2

Maybe the next ios update will help the battery and lift performance.

  • Thanks, bought one just now.

Business model 101 for EBAY executives ……. reward new clients that spend little money, neglect existing big spending clients so they go somewhere else.

Brilliant stuff taught from the best education money can buy and the best salaries

    • who told you that all those who work at top are working only for their employer?

    • It seems random to me. My eBay transactions total 700+, all as buyer. So I wouldn't call myself a "new client".

Yet, I still got the code.

    • yep… their mentality boggles the mind sometimes…

  • Thanks just bought

  • Good find, no android tablets on their ebay website which makes me sad.

    • I found a couple in this search? I may be mistaken though.

      • Thanks for that, I was looking for the lenevo tab 4 10 inch, not there though. But you did find some android tabs!

      • -1

thanks bought 12 ….. after I use the ipad (12 neurofen tablets)

  • +2

Thanks. Had to buy this for my kid who is starting grade 3.
This is cheaper than I thought I would get it, so thank you.

    • -1

      Wot? Grade 3
      :O

      • +1

Yes, seems a little early to me. Public school too.

  • Will a new gen ipad come in March or Aril? This one uses A9 CPU which is way slower than current A11. My iphone 6s with A9 is getting slower when upgrade to ios 11.

  • Is 32GB any good though? iOS itself takes a lot of this space (and their future versions will take up even more).

    • +2

Depends. If your life revolves around the iPad then 32GB is not enough for all the videos, movies, photos etc that you accumulate. For most people though all that stuff is on the iPhone (or in the cloud) and the iPad is mainly for browsing, Netflix etc.

NEW10 doesn't work for me, but P5OZZIE did as per this other deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/351116
have to get iPad for kid at school this year, been waiting for a better deal, but pulled trigger on this. school wanted to charge $220 per year for two years with the option to buy after 2 years. no thanks.

also, apparently my iPad 2 is too slow for school ;)

  • Thanks OP! NEW10 worked for me and just bought one.

  • Does Apple also deliberately slow iPads down after ageing battery?

    • +3

No and yes. they do it to stop your battery from dying out which can cause random shutdowns and app crashes. So all in all its kinda helpful as annoying as it is. Samsung doesn't do this which is why the phones/tablets begin to randomly shut down after a year of use (what happened to mine). The slowed performance generally is much more obvious in their phones and thats where the whole slowing down issue/secret came from (not necessarily to do with ipads)

So its either fast phone/tablet/ipad with random crashes and shut downs (samsung… etc) or an optimised battery with slower performance as time passes that lasts longer.

Whilst it is beneficial to consumers the way apple treated the whole issue was poor, they didn't reveal so that more people would buy a new phone/tablet rather than upgrading their battery to reset back to day 1 performance, which is kinda shady.

  • Thanks OP, I normally never get these targeted codes but today must have been a red letter day.

  • Great deal OP, thank you!

  • Bought one to use on a holiday. Cheers OP

  • Sweet. Got me an iPad. So long, Android (tablet). Thanks, OP.

  • Amazingly and conveniently that the ebay store became unattended yesterday as I tried to order one and the order couldn't be processed because the ebay store was closed. Today there is no single tablet available to be purchased via the ebay store. LoL….
