      • Yeah! We were foiled by the fine print! Good for you! you probably would have been done with dinner and been back home before we were even served our entree!

Thanks for the heads up. I'm emailing every restaurant I've booked for confirmation. No way I'm wasting my time with any place that pulls this sort of stunt. So far 2 responses and no issues.

I don't mind when they are clearly upfront about it (e.g Hunter and Barrel) but all my bookings say 50% of all food.

Showed up at the Raceview Tavern for our booking to be told there was a "system problem" and there was no 50% discount. No further expanation or apology offered. Won't be back and will share my experience with others.

  • +1

"Thank you for your email. The 50% off discount should be provided for the entire bill unless otherwise stated in the terms & conditions. I will contact these restaurants to find out why they are not offering the discount off the whole food bill."

Will let you guys know if I get another reply.

Went to the Fogata Latin Restaurant (Brisbane) and was told that we each had to buy drinks to get the 50% discount, as per the conditions of the offer. Have fired off an email to Dimmi to see what they think about this.

    • Just heard back from Dimmi. They said buying drinks is not a requirement for getting the offer, so what the waitress said was BS.

      • Did you actually buy drinks at the time of eating there though, in order to satisfy the waitress' "terms"? If so, how did Dimmi react to that?

It's worth checking the offers again, new restaurants seem to pop up with the half price offer each day. I noticed that for Sydney, Sushi Tei was added yesterday, and Lot.1, Encasa (Lane Cove and Pitt St) were added today just to name a few.

    • +1

I booked Sushi Tei 15mins after the deal was posted. I also confirmed there are no BS conditons.

  • Sorry might be a stupid question, but can you book using Dimmi and then pay using the Liven app? Half price plus some cashback sounds good to me!

  • Anyone getting a 404? Even tried navigating from the dimmi homepage to 50% offer deals and still get the same issue.

    • Same

    • Yeah start a fresh search… I think the links have changed

I was playing spot the cheapskate ozb'er at Nik's @ Nicholson last night. I think I spotted 3 couples 😊 Cheapest meal I've had at a restaurant and pretty decent too. Large portions for those who like to eat.

  • Does anyone know if Kobe Jones Sydney is 50% on all food menu items including the set menu with no BS conditions?

On the dimmi website site it says 50% off dining then it says 35% off on Food???

    https://www.dimmi.com.au/restaurant/kobe-jones-sydney?date=2…

    Thanks.

    • That just means they have two concurrent offers. Make sure you book the correct offer.

Edit: Have never dined there. The above is just general observation of how Dimmi offers work.

      • Oh ok, so who would book the 35% off food offer??? :O

        • There are limited slots for each offer, so if 50% runs out there's still 35% off :P

        • @moocher:

          ahhh ok, thanks mate :D

  • I'm going to pass on Kobe Jones Sydney, their tripadvisor review scares me

Thanks OP. Just booked for Ciao Ciao Italian (their reviews are amazing), for tomorrow at 5:30pm.
Then will go to Moonlight Cinemas at ~7:00pm using the AmEx deal.
Then, if time permits, will go to Gelato Messina in Windsor at ~11:00pm, using the voucher that I obtained using the AmEx deal.
The Mathematical OzB way to take the missus out on a date.
    Good stuff.

I'm not sure about 'amazing' reviews (I tend to ignore FB ones if that's what you're referring to) but I booked as well as the pizzas looked alright. I have walked past this place a few times and it doesn't look particularly inviting. Inside could be nice. As an Ozb'er I'm not too fussed. Enjoy and give us a review tomorrow.

      • I saw the Google reviews which were good. I saw them when seeing the exact location of the restaurant in relation to the moonlight cinema!

When are you booked in to be there?

Also your location says WA, you down in Melbourne for holidays?

        • Yea I know what you mean. It may turn out to be one of those unassuming gems! Prices are very decent too even without the discount. They may be struggling due to the lack of street appeal. I'm going on Saturday so looking fwd to your feedback. I haven't changed my location since I joined long time ago. I get around :)

        • @gimme: Yeah, I've found some really good restaurants using these deals, that I would never have gone to had they not been involved in one of these Dimmi/Groupon deals.
Got a nice list of restaurants now that are good. However once you've paid a discounted price it's hard to go back and pay twice as much as you did before, ah the OzB dilemma!
I see, well hope you're enjoying VIC more than WA haha!

        • @MathNerd:

Get onto 'liven' and 'Clipp' mate. I know it's not that popular here but I've been using it for a long time and go out very regularly. Between those 2 apps and the additional weekly $20 credits on liven and Amex credits we dine out at around 30-40% off all the time. Can't remember the last time I paid full price anywhere. Spoilt for choice in Melb anyway.

        • @gimme: Haha I've got liven already, but only used it for a $6 Secure Parking code! I know, how un-OzB of me!
Thanks for the recommendations, will check it all out 😀

        • @gimme: Just downloaded Clipp, it looks awesome and my local pub is there.
          Good stuff, thanks mate.

        • @MathNerd:

no worries.. keep an eye out for 30-40% off deals during certain times etc. You get to learn the patterns and pretty much work out when the good deals are going to be posted. Tip: You can open a bar tab well before you get there if you don't want to risk someone else snapping up the 'last' deal while you're on your way.

        • @gimme: Back when Liven did $10 credit that was the best! What's Clipp?

        • @gimme: Do you get Liven fails too much? e.g. Today they said they don't accept it at dinner tonight. Other times/places said they don't accept it, or it's just not working.

        • @anastasiastarz:
Personally never had any issues. Used 30+ times. Where did u have problems with? Report it to liven.

        • @gimme: You're lucky. Sushi and dumplings in prahran, yuzu in the city said no. Solider boy said it was broken. Mama was on the list, but wasn't using it yet.

        • @anastasiastarz:

I've used it at yuzu. Did you try to combine with another deal? Mama is no longer listed since they moved I think. No idea abt sushi as they're not listed at the moment

I typically use it when there's an additional promo code and that skways works

        • @gimme: Ah ok. I was at yuzu last night, it wasn't during lunch or anything. I think they removed mama after our visit. 7-8/10 times it works.

      • Hey mate, just a quick update. I had to cancel my booking for tonight, as Moonlight Cinema has been cancelled due to rainy/stormy weather. No point making a ~50km drive just for the dinner (and ice cream), the movie was one of the crucial parts of the evening. Will book another day, so will await your review tomorrow ;)

        • +1

That's a shame! I bet Melbourne won't get much rain at that time (similar to the incorrect predictions during the previous storms in Dec!!) but anyway. Yeah sure I'll report back.

        • @gimme: Hey mate, how'd you go yesterday? Looking forward to making a booking for another day soon :)

        • @MathNerd:

sorry mate, the weather was terrible so we ended up going somewhere closer. You'll be the first to try… I'm sure it's good though going by the pics and reviews.

        • @gimme: that's alright, did you cancel the booking through Dimmi then? The restaurant must be wondering why all these cancellations are coming through

        • @MathNerd:

yup I did. I always do even if it involves a phone call. I know people in the industry and it's just very poor form when people don't.

        • @gimme: good stuff. It's the least we could do. I'll make sure to go there to make up for it :)

        • @MathNerd:

Just a quick update mate. I finally ended up going. Even though the place isn't going to win any ambience awards and the menu is pretty limited, the service was very good and the pizza excellent. Pizza base was one of the best I've had. Nice and chewy as it should be. Salads were ok and the salt and pepper calamari nicely cooked and seasoned. Can't comment on anything else. I also think I spotted at least one Ozb'er. Have a nose for it :)

        • @gimme: Haha, thanks for the update mate. Will definitely try and make it there by the 31st, really can't let this deal go to waste!

  • Woodlands hotel in Coburg was excellent! I would go back and pay normal price :o

  • Went to Lezzet (Turkish) and it was great! We had the banquet. Not sure if we'd pay for price though as I'm very good at finding deals :P
