Actually saw this in an ad before I'd gotten round to installing adblock in the browser, never heard of seller before but they have PayPal checkout.

CJ31 points out the also have a pickle/cucumber number here but if you look around, they have some others that are good. Search "Kangaroo Hoodie" which I now understand relates to the pocket at the front of the garment and not the design…
56% off laughable RRP

Just saw exact same ad on ozbargain, wondering if way to change the link to drive site revenue…

You poor bugger. Must be hell having someone tell you every day they are vegan and why you should be too.

I was driving behind one in traffic the other day. How do I know? Two stickers on the back of the car - one of which read "Eating Meat Is Weird".

Almost half the population of India (i.e. more than half a billion people) is culturally, more than religiously, vegetarian (who haven't had any kind of meat/seafood for generations) but still no one tries to convince others to eat a particular kind of food. There is still huge diversity in food habits even though everyone knows and embraces the logic behind vegetarianism. In fact, in most of the weddings they don't serve meat in India (even if the families involved are meat eaters) and rather have a huge variety of veg options that are extremely delicious. More interestingly, income levels don't impact vegetarianism there but regional culture and religions do. It is also common to have people with different food habits/ethics within a family or social circle. All this, though it may look odd to an outsider, is very natural to Indian culture and has been so for generations.

Having said this, veganism just doesn't exist there. Everyone eats dairy and uses leather in daily life wherever necessary. So if someone said that they would need vegan food, it will be very uncommon even in India to have it available in restaurants etc whilst 100% of the menu could still be vegetarian.

On the other hand, veganism is a new and pretty much a western concept and most of the followers are first generation vegans who have been so only for a few years, months or only weeks in some cases so they still feel that they are different from others and some of them are still trying to cherish/regret the shift in their food habits, sometimes by being more vocal which can be annoying at times. Also, they get highlighted very quickly in society and social events (where food is involved) because they are still a very small percentage of country's population and it is a bit of an effort to arrange special food for them.

If and as vegan population increases and years will pass, their eating habits will become more stabilised/natural and at the same time availability of vegan food options will also increase, hopefully. I am not a vegan but even as a vegetarian I don't see a great range of food options in most of the restaurants - that's simply because market is small and it is probably not worth putting much efforts for adding more veg dishes to the menu - only pumpkin, mushroom and eggplant pretty much make the veg menu generally. An observation from my travels abroad is that good veg options aren't consumed only by vegans or vegetarians. If they are delicious enough (like most of Indian/Mexican/Italian veg food), then even meat eaters will enjoy them often. I must say that offering bland vegan food just for the purpose of ticking boxes on menu won't work though I understand that dairy restrictions make it even more challenging to prepare greatly tasty vegan food.

I confess that it just makes vegans look odd (or fondly 'stupid') when they are trying to consume tasteless bland vegan food when lip-smacking seafood and meat dishes are on offer too. But, the same vegans won't look odd in other places where menu is full of amazingly delicious veg options too and there are more people opting for them anyway.

Always find I am attracted to those "comment unpublished" remarks. Always leaves you wondering why. Surely a little variety in the debate can be a good thing.

In my case I posted a link from the seller and must have hit (accidentally) the "I am associated with" button. I can't see any other reason, there was nothing controversial and it was blocked immediately and automatically not by a mod, just a message about the link being not allowed.

        • +2

Because it was a referral link not a normal link.

My cousin has a saying for those vegans that are getting a little too vocal.

      It is:
"Catch more bees with honey than with vinegar."

      • +3

        Vegans don't catch bees.

        • +1

ah but one does catch more honeys by bee'ing fly

Thank you for sharing. Would make for some entertaining and lively debate around the dining table. This would be like buying a set of drums for a child whose parents you are not particularly fond of. Yes; buy it as a "kris kringle" gift for your vegan pals.

    • +1

Eh. I think its objectively cool in it's own right without being a social statement. Makes me think of Phó

      • It is kind of "in your face" not to be taken as some kind of statement though; most would have their grey matter working double time. It could just be "look at me" of course. Am not vegan myself, but not overly keen on much meat. If it was in blue or black I reckon it would be more attractive.
