Single room design - can fit approx 1x queen or king airbed and 2x single airbeds
    Sleeps up to 15 people

That’s a hell of a lot of people to fit in 3 beds

Thats all part of the fun ;)

That's false advertising. This tent probably fits more like 5 people max, not 15 of them. There's no way you could physically fit 15 people into a tent of this size unless they are small children. The tent is only 6m long and 4m wide.

      • +1

It’s just like the lifts that “fits 12” but struggle to squish 4 people in.

      • +1

3 rows of 2m long by 5 people wide at 80cm each.
A full size single bed is 92cm X 187, but sleeping bags are usually narrower. A double bed is 137x187, or 68.5cm wide each, so 80cm is a lot wider than anyone in a double bed would be used to.

        • +2

          bunk beds too maybe?

          @mobo: 30 person tent?

      • +2

thats exactly what they said to the guy who invented the sardine can…

      • +4

Its how tents are measured, by people sleeping side-by-side. Its never a realistic experience people will have when camping. I thing everyone who buys a tent knows thats the way they do it. Otherwise you could say all tents are falsely advertising, they all do it.

      • +3

Your right. Dont know people negged you.
It has always been the way, for as long as I can remember (30 years or so) that they advertise tents as 4 man etc, but whatever amount they say, would actually be a very very tight squeeze (if even possible) .

Sleeps up to 15 people………….. who can sleep standing.

    • 15 people fit into a room!

Was comparing to OP's example Kingscliffe beach shelter…

        • +1

Yes thank you and thank you OP, just what I needed to buy this week, perfect timing. Ended up purchasing the Mandalay, paid 14.95 postage as no stock available nearby in Perth.

      Not a tent
      Not waterproof
      Not insect proof
      Not enclosed
      Not a tent

Bought this very tent a week ago for about $100. Feeling so unozbargain right now. It is a very good tent though.

      • +2

        For $100, why feeling unozbargain

        • because it is $50 now. I haven't even used it!

    • +1

I'm trying to decide between the Mandalay and the Kingscliffe…the Kingscliffe seems to have more of a peak at the front so perhaps will provide more shade? Appreciate anyone's thoughts.

  • That's a huge tent …

      This should work:

Glamping is the new Camping! Be the envy of the campsite with the Wanderer Glampian Tent! This tent features a single room design which is so spacious, it can fit one queen or king airbed and two single airbeds! Or alternatively, pop in a queen or king airbed and deck out the rest of the tent with a couple of bedside tables, a couch, wardrobe and dining suite! The options are endless with the space within this tent! The team at Wanderer have also taken the Australian climate into consideration when designing this tent, adding no-see-um mesh on the rear and side windows for excellent insect protection and four mesh vents at the base and top of the tent for ultimate ventilation! When the grey clouds roll over, you’ll stay dry thanks to the 2000mm water head rated fly and 5000mm water head rated floor! The tent also features two PVC windows on the roof of the tent to allow extra natural light and starry night views! The Glampian Tent by Wanderer is the epitome of camping luxuriously!

A tent with mosquito mesh - wonder of all wonders!

  • I was just looking at this a day or two ago. Thanks op. Might be all sold out now for pick-up?

  • Just bought the Coleman Instant Up 6P Gold instead.

  • Anyone had any experience with the awning? XTM vs Kings?

  • OP, my gf and I are looking at camping while travelling around AUS, any recommendations that's fairly small and will fit in the back boot/easy to carry? Looking at entry level tent that would not break my bank.

    • Not OP, but any 3-4 person dome tent would work for you. Good ones can generally be found in any camping store for < $100. e.g. http://www.bcf.com.au/Product/Wanderer-Magnitude-3V-Dome-Ten… (though you might want something bigger if you want more than just a space to sleep).

      • Cheers mate, have not decided if we go all out to accomodate everything or just use it for sleep.
I was looking at something that size which works out perfect. Are they the best ones for that price?

Also, I am very much of a noob as I have never been camping.

Therefore, would love to see and compare with other website… any recommendations?

        • +1

I'm far from an expert, only been on a few overnight trips myself. I used that tent that I linked above, and it does the job, nothing special. Which is what you want if you're just trying camping for the first time.

Have a look around online, but from my experience, you probably won't find too much better for the price at BCF (note: sign up for their free 'club' membership which gives you a better price on many things, and consent to receiving promotional emails, because they send out $10 coupons to members on a surprisingly frequent basis). Anaconda is probably BCFs next closest competitor, and their range and prices are pretty comparable, so maybe have a look there too. Snowys is also popular, but I personally haven't bought from there. Don't bother with Rays, they are owned by the same parent company as BCF, but they sometimes charge more. A wildcard is Aldi. Keep an eye on their specials, because they often have entry level tents at decent prices. I bought one from there a few months ago, but haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

    • +1

Not much in it really with your entry level tents around that size. Up here in the north if you dont mind lack of privacy one that allows you to remove the outer cover and just has a mesh inner is needed for warmer nights.
What you need to start looking at is your sleeping gear. Airbed/stretcher/self inflating etc. All have their pros and cons. Once you decide, before you head off give it a practice run. Cheap airbeds for a couple are rubbish but some of the more expensive ones are good. Head into BCF with the missus and give some a try.

my gf and I are looking at camping while travelling around AUS, any recommendations that's fairly small and will fit in the back boot/easy to carry?

How long do you plan to travel and how much of that do you expect to spend in a tent?

You'll end up spending quite a few wet nights out there and that's when you'll regret going cheap on a tent.

Go and check a few out. Set up/pack up time adds to the cost but worthwhile if you're moving a lot.

Being able to stand up in a tent makes a big difference to how comfortable it is for some.

Also, I am very much of a noob as I have never been camping.

Do a few weekends away camping before committing to a trip around Aus…it's a big trip and you might not like camping.

Therefore, would love to see and compare with other website…

Take the time and go look in person. Sounds easy to measure out the size at home but doesn't work well in practice

      • Cheers mate on the detailed reply.

We plan to travel for around 3 months to do whole of Aus if possible from west to east.

Apart from that, we havent planned much so mostly would love to spend few nights in a tent/hotel.

You are right, will defs try it out and see how I go about, my gf def likes camping.

Also, good idea, need to see it in person so I can see how it will all come about rather than buying online.

whats the difference between a normal swag and the ladies one? Color? more room in chest area? hmm could be useful for my manboobs

  • Can't find any info online about the Glamping tent - need to know if it would be good for a family of 4: enough space for clothes and perhaps swing a cat around and not hit the wife's face

    • +2

Depends on how close your family is. one single room to me isnt ideal. I bought a 3 room tent instead as we have two little children. The room in the middle acts as storage and a gap in between. Then a room for them and a room for us.

Also that white looks like it will be lit up at the first sign of the sun or even a bright moon. If you dont want to be up early get a darker tent. We just got the Coleman darkroom tent. Keeps the tent cooler and darker

      • +1

I can definitely vouch for this tent, The dark fly is bloody perfect, Can handle very high winds, and heavy rain, The only downfall is the price, But you definitely get what you pay for. Can be found for around $649 now. I have my kids come away with us and they never wake to early due to the sunlight breaking through.
It also packs quite large and is heavy. So not something for just 1 night.

    • +4

Go for the Coleman instant up 6 person tent (perfect for 4), no regrets here. Up in 2 minutes, perfect for glamping. It has a partition in the middle so you can make it two rooms if you need.

Also enough space for your stuff, bags etc.

Finish off with an Exped Megamat 10 LXW and you'll be glamping every weekend 😀

    • +1

need to know if it would be good for a family of 4

Best to go check out a few for yourself. Lay the 4 if you down and see how much room there is.

We're a family of 4 with young kids and find separated tents useless. The "rooms" don't block sound or offer any real privacy.

Also that white looks like it will be lit up at the first sign of the sun or even a bright moon. If you dont want to be up early get a darker tent.

Not sure what your kids are like but ours are up at a sparrow's fart…we have a canvas tent but there's no choice but to get up when the midgets do.

      • Ha - so true. I did end up buying it, as I go to Woodford each year for the folk fest.

  • Looks like the one used by Vikings, TLK
    me lord

  • Anyone have any experience with the Wanderer Hydra-Magic Dome Tent ?

  • I erect a tent every morning when I wake up but this tent is huge!

Perfect Mother in Law granny flat, thanks guys, saved me 200k

So, considering that this brand can't be found outside of BCF and Rays, which smells a bit of 'home brand', can anyone vouch for the quality of these tents?
