Foxtel Platinum HD - Free 3 Months On 6 Month Contract ($137 Month 4 Onward*) (Free Installation + $50 Upfront For iQ3)

70

Great Foxtel deal is currently on for those interested.

Platinum HD (everything Foxtel has to offer) for free for 3 months with a short 6 month contract, plus free standard setup, and a discounted iQ3 box at $50 (paid upfront, save $75).

*Platinum HD is usually $137 a month, and this is the price it rolls onto after month 3 ends, but the good thing about Foxtel now is the package can be changed even during contract, so you can remove Platinum HD slightly before month 3 ends, and change to a standard pack of your choosing (starting from $26 a month) for the remaining 3 months of your contract.

Based on staying on the Platinum HD pack, minimum cost is $461.03 on direct debit (incl. discounted iQ3 box fee). New residential subscribers and standard install only.

Great Foxtel deal is currently on for those interested

Nah, this was the only ‘great’ Foxtel deal.

    • 2 years since they've done that though, I think; but yes, was a brilliant deal.

      • +3

True, but it’s the only way the majority of us would even consider Foxtel, especially this time of year.

        • I personally jumped on the last 1 month free deal Platinum HD with free setup and free iQ3, no contract from December.

Wasn't a chance I was keeping Platinum HD so I rang them saying I'd cancel and they offered me Ent + Ent Plus + Drama + HD for $36 a month for 6 months (non-lock in) and I was real happy with that.

          @BradH13:

Didn’t know people even got Foxtel without sport!

        • +1

@cjb: I only have it to watch WWE live on Fox8 (and yes, I'm 25 years old haha). Got sick and tired of watching illegal streams, then got sick of downloading after the show and having it spoiled by social media, then I moved to Foxtel Play which was a piece of absolute dog turd despite 100Mbit connection, now I'm on this deal which I can stomach, but wholly, if it wasn't for WWE; I wouldn't have it. Only other thing I watch on Foxtel is the late night shows from the US, which sadly are on the Ent Plus pack. I can't believe how many ads pay TV has. Crazy.

        • @BradH13: sounds like the best thing you can do for your wallet is to let go of WWE. I did many years ago and haven't looked back. It's such trash tv, it's like days of our lives marketed for men.

        • @tassieeagle:
Do they not offer wwe online packages like in the usa?

        • @tassieeagle: Why would I give up something I passionately enjoy? Haha.

        • @cjb: Yes, they do; and I'm signed up, but it doesn't offer the two main TV shows weekly, as TV networks have the rights to them.

        • @BradH13: If you have 100Mbit connection, you can try HULU plus subscription it comes without ADS option and is much cheaper than foxtel for streaming WWE and US shows. Besides HULU will make it available for viewing much before foxtel due to US timings.

        • @ozdesi: Hulu isn't live. Foxtel is live on 30 second delay.

worth mentioning - term and conditions

*Min cost $461.03 on direct debit (incl. discounted iQ3 box fee).

    • Thanks will add, but it can be cheaper than that if you change the pack after 3 months.

  • Is this new customers only?

    • New residential subscribers and standard install only.

that sort of ongoing i'd want maid service and a happy ending!

Could I organise this and get HFC connected to my house? Would this then make my house NBN HFC ready?

    • +2

Depending on your area, yes; but answer the the NBN question is no. NBNCo still have to come and split the coax on the wall once you sign up to a plan as far as I'm aware, and they'll only do that once the area is deemed 'ready for service'. Plus, if your house is covered by another form of NBN technology, then the answer is no altogether.

      • Thanks for your reply. I just checked with Foxtel, and they would only provide satellite, not coax.

    • NBN HFC is pretty much dead, currently being dubbed as "halted for few months" but given the stupidity of the bunch, you might consider so. My suburb was listed to have NBN ready by 2nd quarter of 2016 when the initial MTM announced, got gradually pushed back to Q1 2016 then the announcement came, now they say "sometimes in next 3 years". What a joke!

      • Tell me about it. My area 3ELT-60 was RFS in April 2017, but still nothing. I am slated for HFC, but given the rubbish, i'm not holding my breath for it anymore.

        • +2

yeah, at least i'm with Telstra HFC so download speed is pretty good, only upload speed bothers me but not so much.

      • Funny you say that. I've received several letters that NBN is active in my area and I should find a provider. They also gave estimates for the cut off date of the existing infrastructure.

Today I received correspondence from the NBN saying that access network in my area requires further upgrades. HFC is planned. I have to wait another 6-9 months.

Such a joke and absolutely pathetic. Luckily i received the letter though, I was about pull to commit to the NBN.

not sure what you mean by dead

    • this is exactly what i did when i wanted to sign up to cable with telstra (which i then switched to nbn when they bought the area), signed up to foxtel instead and got the installation costs covered from the pole to the point on the wall. cost me one month of basic package foxtel instead of $299 minimum (more if it wasn't standard).

  • +2

It is still better with Telstra if you want it for a year. Telstra cost is $20 PM with $ 100 install for Entertainment and Drama/or movies Package and $29 with Entertainment and Sports package.

    https://www.telstra.com.au/tv-movies-music/foxtel-from-telst…

    • $100 installation though.

      • The sport one is good though. I didn't know about that. Thought their deal with just Ent + Drama for $20.

    • +2
      • $10 for HD.
    • +1

Telstra do have $100 install but no fee for IQ3. Foxtel has no installation fee but $50 for the IQ box. So it is only $50 extra with Telstra with discounted package for an year.

  • +3

I've had Foxtel for 2 weeks thanks to their 1 month free, no installation cost, no contract deal made available in December.

After trying very hard to enjoy what little there is to enjoy, I decided that there's no way I'm paying a cent for this service. It's simply not worth it and I will be cancelling the day before the free month trial is over.

As a disclaimer, I'm not a sports fan so my opinion may not be valid to those who take an interest in the sports package. But surely there's more economically efficient ways to access sports content than paying a minimum $65 a month? ($26 base + $10 HD + $29 sports package).

To pay $137 a month (even for just three months) for content that is mostly accessible elsewhere on demand, is simply crazy.

    • But surely there's more economically efficient ways to access sports content than paying a minimum $65 a month?

Probably not. They have comprehensive coverage of AFL, NRL, F1, Moto GP, International Cricket, WTA/ATP Tennis (including 3 slams), PGA/European Tour Golf (including 3 or 4 majors), Supercars, and probably a few others which aren't just shown half-assed (like the NBA or Ice Hockey). Definitely worth it if you really like your sport, and you don't want to rely on sourcing it from heaps of individual avenues, only for it to be a poorer experience thanks to our NBN network.

      • If they did HD sport for $29 i'd be in! $39 is just a little too much….

  • Nonsense. Save $137 per month and download all from internet. I saved $1500 a year !

  • +2

Who the hell pays $137/month for a cable service? That is just plain crazy. Netflix/Stan/Torrent/Stream you could get way more content than Foxtel for a fraction of the price.

    • Ironically, without ads too

    • Exactly my words! And with so many ads its not funny!
I am surprised Foxtel does not go down to $25 with most channels in and maybe then charge $10 for sports or $10 for premium movies.
BTW - I am still on $25 plan with most channels (no sport). Every time this special finishes I cancel. They always come back and I always got those channels back for a total of $25 p/m. I am going to cancel anyway, not watching it any more.
So I am worthy to them for $25, they would not keep me on it for last so many years - so this price is still profitable to them….

  • +1

I just want Sports HD package. So, 3 months free and remaining 3 months @ $65 per month and $50 for IQ3 (Total of $245) which equates to around $41 per month. I still cannot justify myself to pay this sort of money to Foxtel.

    • +3

      Same

    • But are you able to downgrade package after 3 months ? Does not mention that says min 464$

      • A big logo on the promo page "package flexibility guarantee". All Foxtel packs can be chopped and changed no matter length of contract now.

  • How long can you hold out the install date for? As I would want to onlynstart the package as close as I could for the AFL pre-season comp

    • +1

Offers good to 27/1. Not sure how quickly install is but wouldn’t be too long till afl preseason.

      • Does contract start from install or sign up I date. I just want AFL for footy season. This is about two months early.

        • +1

          Should be install date.
