  • Did they do that for 2017 too?

My birthday isn't for another 11 months!

Great deal for twins and triplets.

    Paying a $1 to visit the in-laws seems achievable…

    • +3

      Don't tell this to Dutton.

I tried to get this last time and it failed so hard, had to apply using a form but they never sent an email to redeem the $1 ticket..so it didn’t even work.

    • +1

I got the email instantly after signing up (this time and also last year), but the voucher is actually just a generic pdf that doesn't have any barcode/identifiers on it, only the terms and conditions and instructions. If you google search "Taronga Zoo birthday", the PDF that comes up is the voucher that is attached to the email.

Interesting that you've got to sign up this year - pretty sure I just rocked up last year with my ID. Had to sign up in 2016 though.

Anyone tried getting a voucher for both zoo's? Is it simply sign up twice? Not sure if we'd make it out to Dubbo so having the Sydney one would be handy…

We did this for my wife last year, just show your licence as proof of your birth day and $1 entry is yours. They give you a big badge to wear and all the staff wish you happy birthday when they see it.

    • Didnt know about the badge, thats nice that they all wish you happy birthday :)

Inserts random and pointless complaint about how this is not deal as a result of already receiving free administration to all the zoo's and animal sanctuaries in Australia.

While also disregarding all the other users that do not receive such a perk.

  • +1

    Well that's annoying
    It's my birthday today !

    • +1

      Happy Birthday :)

  • +6

The only problem you have to pay the full price for your partners or family to go with you :)

Unless you don't mind to go to the zoo by yourself on that day :)

    • how much for full price?

    • +1

True. I think most things like this, they are aware that the person with free voucher will usually be accompanied by someone paying full price.
My mum and 1 of her best friends have a good system for this thing. They go on both their birthdays and pay half the total each time (so like half price).

      • +1

Or just find a friend who has the same birthday as you

        • +1

I know one guy I used to work with and we haven't had anything to do with each other in over 7 years… but maybe now's the time.

    • +1

Or have a brother who has the same birthday as you (No we are not twins)

  • What happens if you, your wife's and kid birthday all fall within the space of a wk?

    • +1

Each person goes on their own birthday without the others. All the savings and no fights!

    • You can go three times …and pay full price for 2 of those people each time.

It is only valid on the actual day of your birthday.

    • It is probably most efficient that you get an annual pass for $99 online (you can bring up to 2 kids free). Then you just go on your wife's birthday and then any other time with just your kid.

Cheap way to catch up with the relos

    • Targeted comment towards a particular race?

      • +2

nah just a bit of self-deprecating humour :)

  • Filled the form and didn't get an email…

    • Me neither yet…

      • Got mine. Went to my spam folder…lol

  • Worked for me, filled in the website form and got my email within minutes.
Email subject "Thank you for registering your birthday with Taronga"
    with a PDF attachement "dollar-birthday-voucher-2017-v2.pdf (412 KB)"
which is an a4 sheet "Thanks for choosing to visit Taronga Zoo Sydney on your birthday for just $1!" and has instructions/terms conditions listed.

  • This appears to be for Australian residents only. So visiting family or friends from overseas wouldn't be eligible :(

  • UPDATE: Got my entry into the zoo for $1 on my birthday. The voucher is only valid at the main entrance gates and only for the birthday person. They give you a birthday badge to wear around the zoo and everyone at the zoo makes you feel special. Such a nice touch. Thanks Taronga Zoo, it made my birthday memorable, not to mention a BARGAIN.
