And you proved that guy wrong..haha..

    • +1

This is a definatelty a very good price. Not like the reps from lightinthebox and miniinthebox. Good job with the pricing. This just shows how good just the reps are at geekbuying.

      • +2

Thanks 😁 I try my best.

        • Hey Clear
Any chance of getting a deal for the meizu ep52 headphones ?

        • +1

@Twirtle2: I'd love to but no stock.

        • @Clear:

Thanks anyways Clear! If it ever comes back in stock please keep it in mind for a deal

    • +14

      It's the 8gb/128gb, everything you've upvoted lately is 6gb/64gb

    • +8

Link to a better one please?

    • +4

So since you neged do you mind showing us a link to it cheaper? 8gb/128gb

      • +4

        Because this is 8/128

        • +2

And still cheaper than the US store.

    • what's the RRP though

  • Wow nice deal. Thank you Clear!!

  • Thanks! Just got one as a present. was waiting for this :)

  • +1

Can you buy this phone anywhere in Australia with a decent warranty?

    • Nope

    • +1

You could for a short while but that seems to have stopped.

    • kogan sells them for 200 bucks more but warranty is still relatively shit

  • +4

Looks like a good phone but have a couple of doubts. For 200 bucks more I can purchase an iPhone 8 plus or Samsung s8 plus.
Plus there will be little resell value on this product after a couple of years. Apples have a particularly good resell value.

Then the other concern is software updates. I purchsed a xiaomi mi note previously and was stuck on an old android version and some of the Aussie apps (such as Optus sport) was not supported. Could I encounter the same issues with this device?

    Keen to know peoples thoughts

    • Becuase of the questionable warranty you could just put a custom rom on the phone and get the latest updates. I do that with my Moto and it works great and the devs for my rom are constantly updating to the latest security patches and latest versions of Android. I am not sure about the resell. Out of interest how are you going to get an iPhone 8 plus for ~$900?

      • Thanks some good points, think the lack of warranty and risk of apps not working is a deal breaker for me. I saw an Phone 8 plus on a decent data Optus plan for $65 X 24 months. That would value the phone at less than 900 buck - if you don't mind contracting to Optus that is.

    • +5

This phone will be getting Android 8.0 as their public beta was updated 2 days ago.

      • I spoke too soon. OnePlus started rolling out the update today.

    • +3

part of the value in a oneplus device is the dev community.
      always really strong and popular
as an example, the original oneplus one is still developed for, has oreo ROMs available, and still performs reasonably well

even the xiaomi devices have a big following. as an example, the RN3P has oreo roms that are awesome. the google HDR+ camera app turns the once dodgy pictures to pretty damn good ones.

warranty is a bit down side though, it's a bit of a gamble

    • I have the OnePlus 5 and just got an update for Android Oreo. I've had many software updates in the past (way more than I've had with HTC). This is one of the best Android phones I've ever used. OxygenOS is also very close to stock ROM.

  • Screen protector is pre-applied? So the phone doesn't come in a sealed box?

    • +7

OnePlus themselves have pre-applied the screen protector. Not GeekBuying.

      • +3

Damn you just beat me to it! Good to know I was right tho!

    • The screen protector is applied at the factory for all of the oneplus 5ts (as far as I recall) so I assume it would be sealed box as GeekBuying shouldn't be touching the phones. If anyone knows otherwise let me know!

    • +3

Thanks for clearing that up guys! I'm tossing up whether one of these is worth purchasing. Specs are great. But I recently purchased the galaxy s7 with the good guys deal @ $498. I still haven't opened it, so I can take it back. The thing that turns me away from the oneplus phones at the moment is no expandable memory, lack of Australian warranty and I'm not sure how the camera goes up against the Samsung galaxy S7 or S8. I really need a good functioning camera. If anyone knows how it is, please let me know :-)

      • +1

        This! Me too!

      • +4

S7 camera is very good. Why not have a look at MKBHD YouTube reviews of these phones?-)

      • +1

Camera works fine, though not as good as the Samsung Note 8 it is up there…
128gb while big still isn't quite what you get. It's more around the 110gb mark after you have all the stock android installed, google apps and that little ol' deficit that the memory makers STILL use to cheat us out of memory (no, 1000mb's is not a kilobyte, 1024mb's is… It adds up when you get to bigger memory). I still believe if they put in an sd card reader this would just about blow a lot of the competition out of the water….
Yes screen protector is pre-installed but no, box is sealed at delivery, it hasn't been opened.
The biggest benefit to these phones is they are developer friendly and while not impossible to brick are very hard and mostly recoverable, you just need another backup option for your data…
Just a side note, this is an awesome price for this phone. If I didn't already have it, and a big christmas bill hanging over my head, I'd be getting it again…
        Cheers guys…

      • The S7 camera is probably better. S8 is in a different league altogether. Have a look at this thread. The One Plus camera has a lot of issues.

  • Is there any coupon for 6+64GB version?

  • how does this compare to pixel 2 XL guys?

I was torn between the two

    • +1

Buy a pixel 2 for camera.

      • +1

Agreed its better but can use the pixel camera app on the 5T for some of the benefits

  • paypal comes up $728 au………

    • +4

Paypal's rate is inflated. If you have a card with no currency conversion fees then you can get a better rate. There is a guide to set it up in Paypal here if you have one.

      • Thanks mate. I wondered where this went. Still had to dig though the thread to find how to do it. PayPal well and truly hide it!

    • 28degrees used last night. Total is $701.xx

  • +1

White was just announced any word on Geekbuying stocking that one?

Additionally apparently the OnePlus 6 is rumored to be out in March that's some hardware release cycle!

Personally I'm surprised my OnePlus One is still going strong!

    • Same here. Just replaced the screen because I smashed it, and replaced the mics at the bottom (water damage). Now running the latest LineageOS, feels like its brand new :)

Waiting to see what the 6 brings, might sway me to buy a new one.

  • +5

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to GeekBuying.

Bought a Mi Max 2 with free Australia Direct Line shipping through them on the 22nd of December, it arrived 4th of Jan.
Not bad delivery for over the Xmas/New years period. The only strange thing about shipping is that there was nothing online until the 31st of December with shipping originating in Adelaide (where I live).

Overall very good with no issue with delivering to P.O. Box.

  • Bugger. Already sprung for a note 8 256gig

  • Haven't been happy with the Oneplus 3T.

Notifications and Bluetooth connectivity for certain apps just don't work (ring doorbell app / Fitbit Trackers) and after some thorough googling it seems to be a known issue with the phone. As such I would be reluctant to try another one of their phones even at a good price.

Apart from those issues I've had though, the phone was good at everything else. Hopefully they have fixed these issues in the Oneplus 5! Good luck!

I Performed isolation tests to confirm it was the phone with the issues and not the apps or devices as well.

  • Who has this Phone in Aus and can give a detailed verdict on the led notification?

Can I permanently change colour for. Charging SMS or setup specifically colours for certain in app notification? Eg if I use an email app like TYPEAPP animation have 3 email accounts can I set up 3 different 3 leds based on the address that receives the email? There are simple no reviews good enough that explain this and for. Me it's a crucial feature. I have seen the light is very dim

Also can all led notifications remain on when screen I turned on or only when off?

  • Purchased, great phone and great deal.
    Thanks!

  • How long is this deal on? Am interested in grabbing it, but wouldn’t be until next week.

    • +1

Coupons last a month but this coupon has 80pcs left which should be enough. I could probably do a special coupon if you miss out.

      • I ended up grabbing it last night anyway. Upgraded to DHL as well. Out of interest how long does processing usually take for DHL shipping?

  • +1

Any chance of getting the new sandstone white?

    • mate come on now, why does the sandstone have to be white.

Be proud of your phone regardless of colour friend

    • +1

There will be sandstone white, but no ETA.

    • +1

Stock is expected in ~9 days.

  • Does the DASH charger come with an Aus socket/adapter?

  • After placing an order a day ago I just got an email from GeekBuying's presale team telling me to send front and back picture of my credit card (only last 4 digit of my cc required, can hide rest of the number with pen or paper) and front and back picture of any ID so that they can 'verify that the payment done using the credit card belongs to the same buyer'. Has anyone else got this email and know if this is safe?

    • +1

First I've heard of that happening and definitely shouldn't. What's your order number? I'll follow it up with them.

      • my friend PM'd you

        • Hi Clear, I've also PM'd you as I got the same ID request.

  • Thanks Clear, just bought one!
Not often I would spend this much on a company I haven't dealt with before, but I felt comfortable having you as a store rep here on OzB.

    • +1

If you ever have any issues please shoot me a PM. Happy to help.

  • +1

Here is a review of the OnePlus 5T after 2months of use…
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJGuc8pYq2Q

    • Do you know of any comparisons with the s7 or s8 in low light for the camera? I've been looking and looking but can't find any besides the one I posted earlier. It's a bit suspicious. One plus seems to have paid people for positive reviews!

  • I'm going overseas on the 14/1 (Sunday next week) from Sydney. I was wondering if the Australia Direct Line (5-8 Business Days) will deliver in time? Thanks

  • Does anybody know if it is likely there will be any customs duty to be paid on this when importing into Australia? Thanks

    • No tax as it's under the $1000 AU threshold.

  • Hi Clear(Rep),any info on the new sandstone white colour being available from geekbuying on this deal?

    • Also want to know about this before I decide to pull the trigger

  • We just Bought 2 One for me and one for the wife, ( we did it in separate transactions as the code did not seem to work when buying 2 at a time) will be our first new phone in over 3 years!

  • I placed an order for a OnePlus 5T on Saturday early afternoon (Brisbane time). Credit card payment approved but the order is still pending. PM'd Clear today but no response as yet. Just emailed geekbuying support.
I want to get this sorted as gearbest are offering this phone for $558.99USD - will order one from there if geek buying lets me down

Wondering how everybody else's buying experience has been?

    • I'm in the exactly the same boat however today they asked for credit card pictures and photo ID. That won't be happening.

      • Just received the email asking for this extra info too. I'm also reluctant to provide this. Going to wait to see if Clear responds, otherwise I'll try to purchase from gear best or somewhere else

        • They relented in the end.

        • @PJAus:

So they ended up just sending the phone?
I got the email asking for photos of ID, signature, credit card tonight.
          Yeah, no.

        • @mactos: Yes, credit card order is now confirmed and phone is on it's way.

    • Same to me, order is still pending.

      • Please PM me your order number and I'll check.

    • Also processing for me too. No request for ID as of yet. Up to 7 days processing time, according to the confirmation email.

      • Please send me your order number and I'll check.

        • Will send to you soon, first post, less than one day old account.

    • pending order. too excited to get this phone so I keep checking the thread!!

      • Shoot me a PM with your order number please and I'll check.

  • hi guys, i wanted some feedback about geekbuying. i never bought from them before, can i trust them with my money. thanks

  • Thanks OP! Now comes the big decision - Red or Black?!

    • Redddddd, one of us, one of us

  • I believe you can trust them, but they do not get orders out with any great hurry. I upgraded to DHL and still haven't got a shipment notification and I spoke to live chat and they advised it can take 7 days to process, was hoping it would be sooner.

I paid via PayPal so have no worries about my money being at risk, only time can be wasted.

  • If anyone paid with a CC outside of Paypal and their order is pending, please send me a PM with your order number and I'll get it moving, like I have with all the others.

    • Hi Clear, just created an account on Ozbargain so can't PM until tomorrow. If you see this before I send you a PM tomorrow, my order number is 4369479. I have the CC pending issue.

    • PM sent :-)

    • Hi, yes I placed an order over 6 days ago. Order is still pending.
Asked to provide ID, I have done so 3 days ago (regrettably now after reading comments here - why is this required??), - still nothing. Have emailed asking to confirm, no reply.

I have just made an OZbargain account as to send you a PM with my order number and it appears I cannot for another 24hrs as my OZbargain account is new.
      My order number is 4366921.

Shocking customer service, why should we have to beg for our orders to be processed??

Would not recommend buying from geekbuying.com

      • +4

I queried GeekBuying why people were being asked for proof and I've found out why. In the past there has been a major issue of credit card fraud where people are making high value purchases with stolen credit cards. So GeekBuying have queried payments done outside of Paypal over the value of ~$490 US to confirm if they're genuine.

Had I known this was the case I would have made it very clear in the OP to pay through Paypal (with instructions on how to setup). What I can do is pass your order numbers directly onto GeekBuying staff and have the check waived so that the order can be processed and sent.

I'm sorry this happened and will try to help the best I can.

      • +1

I agree. In my opinion, their customer service is poor and they have excessively long processing/packing times. Suggest looking elsewhere if you need something quick (as in within a couple of weeks!!!).

        • 2-7 days is reasonable and common. The problem here was the unexpected CC checks.

  • Can anyone vouch for the legitimacy of the site? Wanna buy this phone but what everyone is saying is turning me off, Might just buy it from Kogan even though its $899 :/
