Hey all,

Adding on to the original post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/353974, use SAVE10 or HNY18 to save an additional $10 off bringing the total of 2x Google Home Minis to $69. Might have to purchase over $100 for HNY18 to apply but worth giving it a shot! (Thanks to Dealinator for the code)

Only colour that's available is Chalk: https://www.bigw.com.au/product/google-home-mini-chalk/p/672…
Free shipping is available to Metro Sydney, not sure about other cities though so check before you proceed.
Also, don't forget Cashrewards for an additional 5% savings on Wish Gift cards.

Enjoy!

Ensure that you add 2 items to your cart, adding 1 item won't add the 2nd item automatically, nor will the code apply to 1 item.

Add the HNY18 code…. Im going to delete my deal. The code probably will be fixed, because the backend of the website allows the code to apply, even tho its not over $100, and it also grants you the free shipping because it thinks it's over $100.

    • Possibly. I did search and it did specify spend over $80 to receive $10 off. Let's hope they don't realise. The other code should still work fine though if all else fails.

      • Yeah but also, both codes do not offer free shipping, but it is automatically free shipping when you spend over $100, and you have to spend $80 to apply save10, and $100 to apply HNY18, so I think the website system is still reading the google homes as 79+79. So if they update the website backend, both codes wont work (most likely).

Looks like their web team can't do maths. Hopefully, orders don't get cancelled. I got it at $69.

        • @klownvandamn: Hey have done the code poorly, they dont use the total amount but rather add up all the items in the cart with quantities, then check if code is able to be used, so if there is a 2 for 1 promo and you have to add 2 quantities to cart and it auto discounts it, the vouchers will see it as double the price. Some programmers dont realise and dont care half the time about there mistakes if they dont like what they are working on, me included.

        • @klownvandamn: And they have fixed it… must be watching ozbargain, or the launch of the deal…..

        • @Dealinator: Agreed. It's probably management fault and poor programmers are gonna get blamed on Monday.

        • @klownvandamn: They are fixing it now, you can only add 1 to cart now.

        • @Dealinator: ok which one of you works for Wollworths? lol

        • @klownvandamn: Definitely don't work for them………anymore. They dont know what a good website is….even tho coles is worse

Google is so desperate to spy on you. Excellent prices!

    • I keep telling people wait till they're free; of course even then there is a cost to those who take them.

The one who bought this for $79 on this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/353974 is going to be sorely disappointed.

    • Someone who bought it at $79 negged you lol

    No longer available

keep looking at these but I can't really see much use for them - not understanding the hype.

    • +2

You get to share even more personal information with google - what's wrong with you?

      • +1

Google knows more about me than my family, friends and ex combined

        • +3

If only google home was incorporated into a sex bot; then you could find it comforting :)

        • @poohduck: Won't be long before "they" replace families hey … and only speak when spoken to. Yes, probably better company for many.

        • Seems to be the trend hey.

They are actually good for linking together for a whole house music system, kind of like ghetto Sonos. I’ve got a home and 2minis so far and looking forward to the max when it eventually comes here. The sound from the minis isn’t the best, but they fill out a large space well for background music

    • +2

Trust me,you will find a use. Very handy in a bedroom to set an alarm without getting up/using your phone, play radio, telling it to open youtube and play a video on your tv,turn on/off lights, ask a random question etc.

  • +1

Won't let you add the second unit now.

Looks like they have caught on…..

      • Maybe they allocated only X qty and they have been exhausted? Lets see if they update this tomorrow or Monday.

here's an interesting short report or a detailed report covering privacy/security aspects of such devices. if privacy concerns doesn't bother you much, its a great device. at the very least, make sure its configured properly so as to avoid any misuse.

    • +1

People who get these aren't concerned with privacy.

      • +2

not everyone is really aware of concerns with such devices, hence i thought of sharing it in case if it helps someone make a more informed choice than just going by its advertisements :)

        • +1

Of course, you're right. I assume there is no such thing as absolutes.

        • Surprised there are not even more reports about security concerns with these things. Bad enough really for Google to be tracking me everytime I leave home, access to my photos and all our shopping excursions, but now we have these little bots in our homes analysing our questions … an aid to cater for our behaviour of course. Guilty as charged except I have not bought any of these Google home devices … yet.

  • Whilst the 2 for $79 offer ends on the 31st January, free delivery is only until the 17th January.
    Source

So you might want to change the expiry on this deal to the 17th January.

    Edit: oh..ozbargained already?

    • Im guessing they are blocking from adding 1 more too cart to fix the coupon codes….

      • so if they won't let you add two in the cart
then how is this a deal anymore?

  • Damn, codes not working

  • +2

Pretty soon they be in cheap as chips bargain bin.

  • Cannot buy 2.
Sorry, the requested quantity for Google Home Mini - Chalk is not available. Please enter a lesser quantity.
    WTF?

  • +1

Google will be giving these away soon. They're desperate to get one in every room of every household.

    • +1

yes seems like that, i smell something fishy, google is going to stalk everyone around the world really bad

      • They pretty much already are.

  • +2

I've had this troubling thought in my head - kind of like world domination theory. Right now Google is up there. Kind of like Matrix. In Matrix the human population was used as a power source, while they lived their apparently normal lives in a virtual reality. Some of them consciously accepting this as a more pleasant alternative to the real world; the rest just weren't aware of anything else.

Consider Google's evolution; who could have guessed that a search engine could end up here? Now owning adroid, chrome os, chrome browser, chrome cast, google home etc - all data collecting. For this wonderful life of technology all you have to do is give away more and more information and detail of yourself and anybody you're connected with. Right now this may not seem much of a cost, but can you guess google's future evolution?

    • +3

Years ago people were paid quite well for market research, but now (just about) everybody seems to do it for free … even paying for the devices to track them.

  • +1

Did big w order 500 to sell for the whole country? Lol. not sure if it's worth posting if that's the case… As these aren't reduced to clear.

  • I'm getting this:

"We're sorry. This item is not currently available to purchase online."

Does that mean it's out of stock OR available in physical stores only now?

  • My order got processed today.

    • Same here. Also received an SMS from Auspost regarding delivery for tomorrow!
