        • @Lorindor:

Reduce risk; not to hold unsold stock when the next gen comes out and this is less popular/price falls.

        • -1

          @odysseus:

Do you even know the meaning of Broden?

        • @Lorindor:

          do you?

I haven't heard of people with a four way SLI, let alone with 1080's.

        • +1

          @phil1311:

          Seems that way.

Did you even read their above comment? Their intended use was for a mining machine.

  • $501 with shipping is correct?

    • +2

If you let Amazon do the currency conversion, yes… If you don't then it's €315 which is roughly AU$482.

      • oops, too late haha. Ordered one, thanks

      • Ahh, i missed that too :( Don't care if they actually fill the order

    • +2

It can be slightly cheaper if you chose payment in EUR instead of AUD when you pay with a 0% foreign transaction fee card (e.g. 28 Degrees, Citibank Plus, Bankwest Zero Platinum)

  • out of stock ?

    • +2

It has been out of stock since it was first posted. The hope is that they will ship it for the price once they receive more stock, in lieu of cancelling all orders.

  • I've never purchased tech online from overseas before, mainly due to warranty concerns, but this is an amazing price from what I can tell, so I have a few questions….
How do international warranties work? Are they honoured? or Do you just try you luck and if you get a lemon bad luck? Do you post them back (at who's cost)? Do you deal with Amazon or the Manufacturer?

If it's a pricing error or is not fulfilled, what do you expect instead? Nothing? A gift voucher?

I had Amazon AU cancel a order $60 recently, and they gave a $20 voucher, along with a full refund (technically they never actually took any money).

    • +2

Amazon customer service is second to none. But generally you can't send it to a manufacturer here you would need to ship it back to amazon france.

last time I exploited a price error with fellow ozbargainers for an ssd on amazon france we didn't get a voucher edit https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/262415?page=3#comment here is the deal.
      this could very well change

edit 2: but the ssd was a stupid unrealistic price and this is a moderately unrealistic price so it's possible but don't count on it

You will need to rely on Amazon France for any future RMA requests. No sure how Amazon France handles RMA freight costs, so best check with them directly.

Asus Australia wont provide you local cover. Excerpt from my recent request below:

As you might be aware, that the GPU was not sold in Australia, and ASUS GPU not apply global warranty, so this GPU will be considering with out of warranty.

Please be noticed, for out of warranty (OOW) service, there are four terms and condition will need to be aware as below

Handing/inspection fee ($44.00 AUD) will be applied, it is not refundable
Repairable parts/materials costs will be charged after inspection
Fixed item, will be given three months extended warranty after the date of return
No Guaranty on repairing the problem

If you consider sending faulty unit for OOW service, we would like to apply first handing/inspection fee on you and then you can send it to service center for next procedure.

    • Amazon only covers warranty for the first 30 days from the date you receive it, then you have to go to the manufacturer directly.

Dealing with Asus directly won't be easy either as you'll need to send to Taiwan and they don't cover shipping.

Also from experience, you'll only get a nice "sorry" for their error.

    • Amazon FR don't do this.

  • Which strix 1080 is this
Even though I bought it anyway

    • Looks like its the O8G version

  • +6

based on the upvotes, amazon france is going to see alot of orders from "australie"

  • I hope my order doesn't get declined because my credit card account doesn't have proper funds at the time stock arrives, and by the time I find out or react, stock is gone for good.

    • Don't worry, that's the purpose of a credit card. If you don't have the funds the company lend them to you on credit. Just make sure you pay it off before you have to start paying interest.

  • Is it me or this is really really cheap for a 1080? Wouldn't the cost price be more than that? I overheard MSY stating they don't make that much profit on a 1080 since the cost price is so high (assuming the cost price is around the same worldwide).

    • I know PC parts prices and i can safely tell you that MSY doesn't make much at all per item sold. However they push prices way down and expect big volume sales push up their profits.

      • In your view, buying this around $482 AUD from an international seller, too good to be true? lol.

  • this will be a good upgrade from my 780 :)

  • +1

Should be able to fulfil it. I ordered Crucial Ballistix DDR4 32GB ram back then from Amazon France and it was $95 euro, that's like AUD 145 for today's conversion. Dirt cheap!

So it is possible Amazon will fulfil this order..

    • +1

      Was it backorder though?

      • +1

        Yes it was.

        • nice. how long did it take to arrive?

  • +1

Bought 2. Seems too good to be true. If it is a legit deal, I wonder how long before they get restocked? Would be sh!te if it turns out to be months away

  • Bought one thanks OP. I dont have Chrome and cbf downloading so guessed and clicked all yellow boxes. Heres hoping backorder gets shipped.

    Upgrading fro my 960.

  • I dunno how you guys are getting $482 after conversion. Iam getting something like $501

    • pay in euros instead of AUD

    • Don't use amazon's converter. Keep in mind if you don't have a "no international transaction fee" card you'll be charged 3% or so in fees.

      • Ahh I see. Thank you pizzip and shot. 3% fees roughly brings the total price to $496 with $14 in international transaction fee. Thanks for the heads up. Hope all our orders go thru. Seems too good to be true at that price to be honest 😁

        • +1

Got a citibank card just for this stuff and travel. No atm fees and way better currency conversion rates than ebay & amazon.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed one as well.

  • I seriously doubt we will get them, but fortune favours the brave

  • +1

$485.59 AUD according to the MasterCard conversion website paying with my 28 Degrees card…probs won't get fulfilled if it's a pricing error but if it does, this is a huge upgrade from my GTX 650…..

    • +1

Make sure your cpu and conponents can handle it…

      • Yup, it can! Just that I never bothered upgrading my GPU when I don't play any high-end games

    • Haha I have a gtx 660 upgrading too woo!

  • Ordered one anyway, though be very surprised if it goes through.
Same deal is very popular via UK site https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/asus-geforce-gtx-1080-8gb-r…

Quite a few seem to be placing orders for 2.

  • well dont hold your breath guys…
this is what mine says now when i looked back into my account

This order no longer has any items. It is therefore canceled

    • Mine is still in my orders.

      • buggered if i know why mine says that then….

  • +1

I don't even game on PC anymore and I'm buying this. Dame OZB!

  • Had to order one for this price ^_^

  • I am building an itx system. the case i want to buy can only hold a graphic card up to 22cm (currently consider to buy a 1050 ti mini). BUT, this price seems too good to ignore…. order one first!

  • my account now shows 1 open order under comands.. but in cancelled order tab i have 2 orders cancelled….
oh well… heres hoping for best but wont hold my breath here…
at this price i think they prob getting hammered and no way they can fulfil orders even if they wanted to honor it.
for those wanting to read french use chrome and translate pages to english…

    • Mine is still in orders and current orders nothing in canceled :/

      • how long ago did you order
mine was about 2 hrs ago for first attempt

        • Are you sure you didnt cancel anything?

        • @shot:
Yep.. my first thought was that i cancelled order first time.
Made sure i translated each page 2nd time ..
Not overly fussed if it doesnt get filled as im sure we will find another price error or 20% off deal to jump on

        • @roosterman: I believe now people are getting different error messages about this item cant be supplied. I ordered mine @ 11pm AEST and my order is still in current orders!

Perhaps they are auto cancelling any recent orders until they deal with this whole thing. xD

  • 0% chance they're filled.

  • Great deal if you can get it.
But with Volta not too far off, I think i'll just wait for that instead.
New 60 series generally = old 80 series, but with warranty :)

    • new 70 = slightly better old 80 IMO

Your statement is a bit far fetched :)

      • 70's are higher than that.

        1070 > 980Ti
        970 = 780Ti

Not really all that far fetched.

        • +1

          1070 = 980ti*

          Unless you meant 1070ti

        • @Soothsayer:

I found my Gigabyte 980Ti Xtreme card faster than my Gigabyte 1070 Xtreme GPU @4k gaming.

  • Excellent price especially with all the GPU shortages due to mining. All the retailers here in Aus have increased pricing by about $100 for the RX 580 cards. How does warranty work with an international order? What happens if u get a DOA card?

  • What is the next cheapest this has been. Thinking whether I should stock up on it or buy it in a year or two still. Not planning on building a computer anytime soon within a year or sotwo I think for the moment.. my mind may change though once winter comes lol but even then still too expensive for me atm maybe winter time next year.

    • +4

If you seriously wont build the rest of the computer for that long, DO NOT buy this. by that time you will be able to get the same performance for cheaper and with warranty and from a local store and with less power usage and heat

  • +3

Can no longer add to cart! Can only add to a wish list now :(

  • I ordered this about 10pm last night. I was worry that it will get cancelled. Upon checking my order tracking this morning. It said with google translate.
    Carrier
We prepare your order. The carrier's information will be updated soon.

So hopefully it's a good sign.

  • I always miss out on the insane deals. Damn my body and it's need for sleep.
Good luck to those who've ordered. Hope they get fulfilled.
If anyone gets buyers remorse or angry wife syndrome (or husband), let me know what you want for your card.

  • Actuellement indisponible.
Nous ne savons pas quand cet article sera de nouveau approvisionné ni s'il le sera.

  • Ahhh, just bought 1080ti for $900

    • dont worry that one will actually arrive, I'm fairly certain this one wont… but as others have said, worth a shot, it shouldnt cost anything to have a shot at least.

there have been a few surprising bargains in the past, price errors that stores have honored…

    • that'sa good price. can you send me the link of what you bought?

I bought this 1080 but i don't think it will arrive so I'm looking for another GPU.

  • +1

    appears expired

  • +1

This is what mine says when I check the order status:

"We do not know when this item will be back in stock or if it will be.
    Currently unavailable
Do you wish to receive an e-mail when this article is available?"

It's the "or if it will be" that worries me.

  • +1

    Gone with the wind.

    • Rhett Butlers is that you?

  • -4

Doesn't there need to be sufficient stock to post deals ????

  • chances are it wont be fulfilled but you miss every shot you don't make right? lol fingers are crossed

  • Cant add to cart anymore?

  • Hmmm mine says

    Not shipped yet
We will send you an e-mail when it becomes available.

    I ordered at about 11pm

    • Why the negative votes?

      • +1

Because he's greedy and needs to tell everyone how greedy he is.

        • +1

          agree

    • -4

Why the negs? 5 cards is a very amature setup.
Boasting would be 50,000 not a measly five.

At least he will use them, unlike many other posters don’t require this much power or don’t even have a PC yet.

      • +10

Not sure about other people, but I negged because customundo represents the kind of opportunistic behaviour that makes the world worse for the rest of us. But I don't have anything against them personally.

        1. Buying multiple cards will reduce the likelihood of anyone getting anything from this deal.

        2. Buying video cards in bulk for mining creates gpu shortages and pushes up the price for the average consumer who just wants to game.

        3. The last thing our world needs right now is more energy wastage. Does anybody else feel like things are backwards when we are using all of this energy for something that doesn't produce anything tangible, doesn't contribute anything to society, and is purely for personal gain?

        • Well said.

  • I paid in AUD, any way to change this so I get it cheaper? Or would I have to contact customer service.

    • Probably not. I would just swallow the $20

  • Just got an email asking for verification. Must be because of the excessive Australian orders.

    • Same, did it lock your Amazon account too?

      • +1

Yeah and I was given four days to verify or they will cancel the order. Looked into it and this is a normal process for new accounts ordering a product over $100. Huge hassle to have to verify though but I guess I have to.

    • Same here, faxing info feels so dodgy though.

      • an account statement or bank card statement containing your address

      • an RIB (bank account statement)

      • a confirmation from your bank, your bank details and the address associated with your bank account

Obviously, you can exclude any details concerning transactions or banknotes. account, because these are not necessary for the verification process.

      • It is really annoying having to do this. I submitted 2 things:

        • RIB details
        • Account Statement

I guess a confirmation from your bank is the same as an account statement? Anyway I used a free fax service online and hopefully I can get it resolved. Other people say that they have been able to do so via Amazon.fr live chat.

        • I also received the email, the live chat is in French?

        • +1

@gugav: Not sure I think you need to log in to your account, which I can't do cause it's locked. So annoying. I guess it would be in French but Google Translate would help.

    • Same here.
IMO, too much effort at this point as I don't think they'll go through with the orders.

      • Such a good deal to turn down though haha. Hopefully if they verify my details I can get my order through and hopefully either get the product or some sort of reimbursement like that PS Plus deal JB Hi Fi did.

        • You mentioned above that you faxed them your details.
Just wondering how you got their fax number?

The email they sent didn't provide any information on how to respond.
It would have been a lot easier if we could just reply to the email or upload the documents via their website

        • +1

@googolplex: https://www.amazon.fr/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=2… that was linked to the email they sent me. I used mondialfax.com to fax
