Dell P2411H 24"W LED Monitor with 3 Yrs Warranty for $209 Delivered

310

Seems a very good price to me, even better than the 24" monitors they had the other week for $199/209. I like the fact this one has a nice swivel. No HDMI, so I invested $2 in a DVI-D to HDMI adapter.

Same monitor is on 'special' on the Dell website for $299

This monitor is included in the ebay xmas sale too. (More details of that at http://www.paypal-offers.com.au/ebaychristmas/ )

FYI this has now SOLD OUT

Fairly normal pricing. Not really a bargain.

There are plenty of HDMI 24 inch monitors for around this price and lower:

but those are all crappy brands

Dell isn't much of a brand. i wouldn't be surprised if this breaks on 36months 1 day old, like my Dell M series laptop did (2yrs 1 day old = warranty expired). LOL.

    • Did you pursue it and try get it fixed under statutory warranty ? Though many companies will still honour the warranty no questions asked if it's just out.

      • +1

I agree Dell can me annoying with the warranty… ie they apply it to the letter.

However if this last 3 years its written off for tax, probably really out of date and you will want a new one… plus its only $209!

They have extended warranty options, up to 5 years… but think back 5 years ago, what monitor did you have then? Probably pretty naff by modern standards, so do you really think you will want this monitor in 5 years too???

  • DELL monitors are good, havn't had any problems with it for my home or my work place, and there must be over 200 of the damn things in my work place accross Aus.

  • How does this compare to the ST2420L that was selling on dell special for $200 last month?

    • Well it is marketed as a higher model… it certainly has a much better stand, which was important to me.

  • +1

i think this is one of the items in ebay xmas sale, so getting three of these means 100 cashback.

    • Yes you are right it is… would become and even bigger bargain then. Will add that to the details.

  • i wish this one has hdmi port

    • +1

why? is there anything you can do on HDMI that you cant on DVI-D ? Surely not.

Sure I know buying the adapter costs a couple of $ (or buy a direct HDMI to DVI-D cable for $6-7) … my only wish is they would include the adapter in the box!

      • Though DVI-D has the possibility of audio, this monitor does not allow audio passthrough through DVI (and therefore none at all). Almost all HDMI connected monitors have audio passthrough, as HDMI audio is de facto in the HDMI standard.

This means you then need an extra connector - which doesn't suit a lot of people, as it requires extra equipment (usually) to get it to an audio source, when a HDMI audio passthrough sorts that out into a nice 3.5mm plug with only the single cable.

        • Mmmm… perhaps that would annoy some people… but you would still need another cable anyway from the monitor to whatever was producing the audio.

It does have the DC out for the Dell Soundbar I believe, guess that plugs in with 3.5mm then?

        • +2

Yeah, if you got this monitor and the soundbar expecting it to work, you'd be a little disappointed, due to the extra cable - it's the same problem I face with the U2311H, I have to run a separate cable from my PS3 to an amplifier to my headphones/speakers in order to get audio.

In the end, it's probably easier to get a different 24" monitor (even though I personally rate dell monitors very highly) with HDMI and audio passthrough if it's a big deal.

For general computer usage, these monitors are great though, xbox and ps3 usage still requires an extra piece of equipment.

  • Hey guys, looking for your opinions as to how this monitor compares to the below deal?
    Acer 24" G245Hbmid $139 After $39 Cashback - http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/34899

Is it worth the extra coin?

    • I think Dell monitors are the best. I always like the quality of the built, particularly the case. The LCD or LED panel is also of good quality. If you put it side to side with any other brand, including Samsung, you can see the superior quality of the image in the DELL.

I would rather put the extra cash on a DELL. This is something you will look at every day. Acer monitors look cheap. So do all the cheaper brands. Samsung look good, but I still prefer Dell.

      • I have the acer and i am happy with it. I wanted a monitor with a glossy screen. the colours look amazing but you have to be careful where you place the monitor. If the screen is facing a window, then you will have too much glare. other than that, i have no issues. I liked it that much that i bought another one for a friend as well.

    • I will go with Dell :)

  • Is there any deals about for a decent 16:10 24" screen?
That's what I've been waiting for and haven't seen any :(

    • Yes I wanted one of those, but it's a dieing breed.

There are a few around $350(ish)… In the end I went for this Dell as it offered more value…

  • I bought one of the previous ones. Took a week for delivery, so OK. However, it had a crack in the plastic surround. Last email informed me that it would be swapped out by 12th January! Also, had to chase them for a decision. Be careful if this is a Christmas present. Have asked for a refund. I used to be very pro-Dell but this experience has not been good.

    • damn, that's a length wait. i'd be raging.

    • Seems Dell Australia are not as good as elsewhere. We used to get monitors changed within 1 business day in Europe.

    • Just had a call from Miles that restored my faith in Dell. Miles confirmed the replacement was on its way and offered compensation for the upheaval. Behaviour that is reflective of the Dell I know. If anybody has any issues I suggest you phone the number on the Ebay page. If you get an automated "wait forever" email then ring and enquire re the real date.

  • Looks good to me, I was waiting for a 24 incher with these specs to hit this price-point. It's the decent stand (tilt, pivot, swivel, height adjustable), plus the decent brand, plus LED, in addition to all the usual stuff for a 24" monitor, that makes this a good deal. Perfect for multi-monitor setups (especially with pivot). I ordered three.

    • Hope you used paypal to get the 100 cashback then! Don't forget to register!!!
