Fun fact: This charger turned on my XBox360 because the flashing lights somehow equated to the "turn on" IR signal. Took me a while to figure out why the XBox kept turning itself on. Like 5 minutes.

Under some battery configurations (e.g. 2 x 18650 in a certain configuration) it seems to get itself into a reset loop. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

    Otherwise great charger.

La Crosse, Ozbargains favourite battery charger

    • I bought the Eneloop smart charger assuming it was OZB's favorite charger during Bing Lees boxing day sales. I feel tricked.

Eneloop smart charger looks better at least.

      • I bought this one similar to the La Crosse but has a built in fan and dual-tech so it can charge NiMH/NiCD but also Li-ion, and with a couple of the BC-CD adapters can charge D cells as well (I have some NiMH D cells from the Dick Smith closing down sales). It's the only true all-in-one charger I know of. The only downside is the fan is quite noisy when it kicks in.

  • There are a lot of fakes of these Nitecore products around. How do we know this is legit? /mildly skeptical

    • +1

you have to buy then find out. they come with a serial number with a special sticker. then you need to verified the number here http://charger.nitecore.com/validation/

      • -1

So, they use the same legit code on every one?

        • "Enter your validation code and information as required, you will be enrolled in our warranty programme after page submission, after which you will be sent a confirmation email. This email and your registered email address are essential to your warranty eligibility"
I will say one number per email.

        • I tried different email address with same number it says "Invalid request! Registration unsuccessful. This product with serial number of xxxxxxxxxxx had been registered for warranty service……………………….." I have registered the number with my other email address already.

        • @Unity55:
Each number can only be registered once. That's how they weed out fakes. Valid numbers aren't sequential either, nor in a recognisable sequence. My guess is they are a hashed value of a (sequential) serial number, with a salt.

          @Russ: Good info, thanks

  • This or the liitokala?

    • +5

      Got both prefer the liitokala

      • +2

Same here, have both and use the LiitoKala more

        • and reason?

        • +2

@love2buy: Main reason is that Lii-500 can charge max 1A on all 4 slots vs Nitecore only being able to charge max 750mA on 2 slots simultaneously. The Lii-500 is also an analysing charger unlike the D4.

      • For people who don't have any sort of smart charger I'd also recommend the Lii 500 first as it has the capacity testing; cheaper too!

That said as someone who owns both cos I bought a D4 and a D2 first, I do find the D4 a bit "nicer" to use. Just little nitpicks here and there like the spring bays, the way the screen info is presented, etc. for simple charging purposes.

        • Was trying to find the difference between d4 and new i4, and now i have found the sc4 !!
which one should I buy ??

        • @hbaruas:
If charging NiMh batteries, D4 charges at 750mA for 1-2 batteries, 375mA for 3-4 batteries. I4 is lower, 500mA for 1-2 batteries, 375mA for 3-4 batteries. D4 has a much nicer display too, and the D4 has a "low current" mode (300mA) that is suitable for AAA batteries.

I don't know anything about the SC4, sorry.

        • @hbaruas:
I've just looked at the SC4 deal posted this morning, looks like the SC4 under-charges NiMh batteries, and has a display bug:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5508668/redir

I have the D4, and for NiMh batteries it still looks to be the best Nitecore charger. If you want it for charging Li-ion batteries, I don't know which charger is best.

        • @Russ:thanks for your inputs mate.
Have been reading the reviews and may go with the sc4 if i can find a better deal. Now time to get some ladda's or turnigy's for cheap.

    • Get the lii 500. Faster and comes with testing features.

    • It's a good charger. liitokala has car 12v plug and individual screen reading. The only thing I don't like it, the screen is on the bottom of the charger.

  • have one. it will only fit 2 C cells at a time

  • Argh….should i buy this?

    • +3

      Yes this is ozbargain

      Buy 1st regret later

      • Nah, I think I will live without a eneloop charger than being homeless:)

  • Somehow I got charged $25.05 AU from my Coles Mastercard… I did followed the instruction but anyway…

    • That's why i pick woolies

      • +2

I guess am Coles blood… lol

    • +1

That amount of AU$24.18 in the title is based on the Google exchange rate when I posted this deal. You get charged based on the rate applicable at the time when your card processes your payment (In short, AU $25.05 isn't too bad)

  • Why would u want this if u already have eneloop charger?

    • -6

Ironically, this will not charge Eneloops. This means it cannot be an OzBargain favourite.

It does not support rechargeable Alkaline. Does pretty much most other chemistries though.

      • Why would you say it does not charge Eneloops? it does.

and who has rechargeable alkalines anyway, that's quite exotic. I'm genuinely interested - in what application do rechargeable alkalines have an advantage over Eneloops or other common chemistries?

    • -1

      I don't know.
Why did you post a comment if you already have one?

      • Huh? Just being curious

        • -1

          Terrific

  • +1

Is this an eneloop charger? Can it charge AA and AAA batteries? What eneloops should I get and what price should I wait until I buy them at?

    • +1

I have one and it charges eneloops fine. A great charger indeed.

    • Yes it will charge any combination of eneloops at the same time

  • 18.88 USD????

  • +1

How does this compare with the LaCrosse BC-900?

  • Does this charge the Ikea ladda batteries?

    • as long as your ikea batteries are in working conditions.

  • +1

Bought one of these from Zapals a couple of weeks ago, but paid $38 or so delivered (incl. AU plug).

    I love it, great charger.

Unlike the standard eneloop chargers the 4 charging slots all work independently and will stop charging automatically when they are charged. The LCD display is also nice to track their progress.

      Sounds like a plus vote

AU plug is cheaper at OfficeWorks than AliExpress (uness you want the 50cm one from Ali).

How can you call yourself an OzBargainer if you don't have a Xiaomi power strip to plug it straight in :)

      • +1

Who needs a xiaomi power strip when you should have at least 4 or 5 US to Aus plug adaptor from the numerous online purchases of electronic gadgets. I know i do.

I got these adaptors plugged into each other so i can find them easier.

  • Which one should I buy - the Nitecore D4 or the Nitecore "new" I4 ?

  • How does this compare to the Maha C9000?

    • This one is more versatile.

      • +1

Only if you use the other sizes otherwise if only AA and AAA, Maha wins

        • Yup, the Maha C9000 is in a different ballpark altogether, much higher-end (but only for AA/AAA, unfortunately). The C9000 can't handle IMR / LiFePO4 cells, whereas the D4 can.

Unlike the C9000, the D4 doesn't have battery discharge/"rejuvenation" modes.

          The two chargers are complementary.

        • @44sunsets:

Too hard to make one fits all.

  • +2

Shouldn’t the delivery cost be same for Kiwi customers too. Shipping showing quite high to NZ compared to Oz! Hope the store rep can do something about it.

  • Been waiting for one of these to use with my Aldi rechargeables. Thanks OP!

  • Whether this one as the 12v car charger or do we need to buy it separately?

  • I have followed the ozbargain way and bought first with the hope it will do what I need.

I see this can charge smaller size batteries due to the slider.

I have some 1/3 AAA batteries out of some stupid outdoor solar garden things the wife bought. Can I piggyback two of these in one slot to be able to get them charging?

If I can't then any suggestions as a workaround to make the 1/3 aaa's a bit bigger so I can charge them?

  • +1

Went through as 16.99 + 1.85 shipping for me last night. Total USD 18.84.

  • Great charger, automates everything and gets li-ions up to 4.20V. Can't believe I put up with Trustfire TR-001s for so many years.
Even does regular batteries, and LiFePO4 (not that I've dabbled in those).

In case anyone wants to buy Liitokala Lii - 500 then I managed to get extra 80 pcs from the GB rep. The previous deal is re-active again with the same coupon code.
