Coles: $100 VISA 2000 Flybuys, Kettle Chips $2.20, Shapes $1.50, Omo $9.50, Starburst $1.40, H2Coco $3, Chobani $1.12, Bonds 50%

A super early look at next week's Coles catalogue (yes, Jan 17). Simply click the main link, select your state and give it time to load. If the default viewer shows a missing page, you may need to download the PDF and view it offline. Both worked perfectly for me. May be wrong, but I don't think a new catalogue has previously been posted before the current one has even started. Hope the post helps you all save some money. Enjoy :)

  • Normally it’s 2000 points for $50 gc isn’t it

    • yes minus the $5.95 card fee if you're talking about eftpos cards

    • $96 after points so a 4% saving.

      • I think I'd rather get a Coles egiftcard from AGL Rewards - 5% discount (if paid by bank transfer).

        • Use the e-gift card to buy the Visa card and you’ll save Om both.

        • @wxyz234: is it possible/allowed to buy the visa card with an egift card?

        • @unloadmymind: yes bought an eftpos gift card last week with an e-gift card,

    • Link? I thought it was $10 for 2000 FlyBuys points.

      • Never mind - got it now. I was thinking it was a $100 gift voucher for 2000 points but it’s receive 2000 points when buying the gift voucher.

seems like these catalogs are going the way like magazines - the Feb issue is out in early Jan, etc

    • +4

It's the Tightarse edition, they always come early.

I always come early when I see a tightarse deal.

I don't think a new catalogue has previously been posted before the current one has even started

It's been posted 8 days early before, but well done on posting all the states!

Ah, there you go. Happy to be proven wrong :)

All friendly competition and the winners are always OzBargainers!

        • Mate - what's happening with the AMEX CB offers…they have just dried up..10 days into the month and no single meaningful CB offer..

        • @maverick1: AMEX targets and marketing budgets for the 2017 calendar year did wonders for the CB offers.

        • +3

@maverick1: I don’t quite get how an Amex Offers reference is relevant to this offer, but anyway great to see TA Still posting great 5star posts!

      • TA can you please explain this comment - thanks

    • ozbargain is not the source to see the early catalogue anyway.

      • Do tell! Then Where?

        • go ask the OP, that is where he got it from, btw it won't be much use for you coz it is not an English forum.

        • @samehada:

More details please to better inform the OzB community

  • +7

Thanks TA, seems like a fist full of bargains.

So many specials it makes me gay.

      • Your pic suggests you're pretty gay regardless of the specials

      • +7

I think you are supposed to say "moderately happy". Congratulations on your return from the Penalty Box.

        Yes, welcome back scab

Now you know what the gloves are for.

  • +2

sorry for a dumb question, but what is with the 100 VISA..
can someone elaborate it as I could not see any details in the catalogue

    • +4

      It's on page 29.

      • +5

basically pay $5.95 for 2000 flybuys points

        • Am I missing something? You buy a $100 Visa gift card which costs $105.95 and get 2000 points. Those 2000 points equate to? What are the actual savings here?

        • +3

          $10

But there is a $5.95 activation fee to use the card.

          So you're making $4.

        • +1

          there is no savings.

        • +1

@ash2000: Unless you have an Amex Plat Edge, where you'll be able to get 3 Velocity/Krisflyer points per dollar for a card that can be used with merchants who only accept MC or Visa etc.

        • +3

@theblackmamba: You help save Coles from looking bad in a few months when Wesfarmers reports the third quarter sales results.

        • @theblackmamba: $4 or 4%. People are happy to buy gift cards with 5% discount or ebay at 5% off so it is a saving.

        • Love the simplicity in explanation! Cheers, mate.

      • Why there are two $100 gift cards in the catalogue. Aren't they the same?

        • Probably to just use up real estate in the catalogue? Guess they just copied the last graphic but used 2x $100 cards not 1x$50 and 1x $100.

        • @doweyy: Yeah I am thinking the same. It is unlikely they will give me two $100 cards for $105.95!

  • +4

    Fine work as ever OP!

Thanks TA, can you please ensure that John Smith is not a real name of the owner of the PDFs, especially if he works for Coles then he might get in trouble.

    • +2

Take a look at the Google Docs email address and you’ll see the name is obviously a pseudonym :)

      • name is obviously a pseudonym :)

    holy crap!!

  • Nice! Better than an unannounced iPhone leak! At least this will come handy!

Interesting comparing catalogues, the only real difference in price between each state (for non-perishables) is beverages thanks to the NSW (Scheme/tax/initiative). $3.40 more expensive to buy a 24can pack. :(

QLD, VIC and WA enjoy it whilst it lasts.

  • So…where is the NT one?

    • +6

Just double the price of all the fresh produce and you'll be pretty close.

      • Yeah you’re right

  • +2

this guy must be the snitch in the Coles catalogue production team

  • +1

Got last deal $50 eftpos card with 2000 pts, then use the eftpos card this time and pay another $50 to get the $100 visa card and get 2000pts again.

So, pay 5.95($50 eftpos) +5.95($100 visa) to get 4000pts/$20

    lol

    • nah if you have an amex card you would pay for these gift cards on that. 3 x points. save the eftpos cards for places that charge a fee on credit cards (but not eftpos) or where they don't accept amex. The savings being the earn rate on your visa/mastercard versus the fact that you get 3 x on your amex.

  • Vegemite and cheese sausages, what will they come up with next?

  • +1

Thanks TA for such an early look into the catalogue. Certainly makes forward planning for groceries so much easier!
    You're the best!

  • Wait, so is this visa promotion another bonus flybuys points one as ther ewas one in the first week of jan for the visa, netflix and so forth cards already?

Just confirming this is a second round?

Abit confused with some of the wording on the catologue. saw some map coffee pods on special but the print on the page says the 17-23rd on sale but 'selected specials' being wed 10th? Which ones are selected specials???

edit: i stand corrected. i believe i'm just riding low on sleep - the last special was $50 eftpos cards. was looking at how the visa was $5.95 activation for $100 as i remember the eftpos was $6.95 for $100.

Anyway when you work it out the extra $1 you paid for the eftpos to get $100 vs $50 was not worth it for the extra points you get with the 3 x points via amex system. long story short this visa one is a much better deal as you get $100 x 3 amex points for the same $5.95 activation, with the bonus fly buys of course! woo.

  • RACQ members, don't forget you can get additional 5% off.

RACQ Members e-Gift cards Coles 5% off,Target and Kmart 7.5% off plus Others

I have used these e-Gift cards in the past to buy physical cards (Coles Group cards included) but not for an eftpos card (can't see why they would be any different though).

    • +1

it might be different now, their system recently changed.

unable to split and pay 1c transactions anymore. also may not allow split and pay rounded down amount by cash anymore, e.g $2, split 8c by card, rest by cash ($1.92 = $1.90). i don't know if they maxed coin limit to around 4 or 5 or system just doesn't allow trandsaction to complete and rejects the coins.

      • +4

Not sure about 1c thing but sure you're right.

You can't split payment at all when buying the Visa gift card. So if you want to use a coles egift card to buy Visa you need a single card with at least 105.95 on it

      • Thanks for the heads-up. I might go down to Coles later to see if I can purchase a physical gift card worth $200 by using 2 x $100 e-Gift cards. Even if it doesn't work, no real loss to me anyway because I churn through several of them in a month just from shopping for groceries.

        • Just want to know - what happened when you tried this?

        • +1

@freezingpoint: It won't work. First because you can't use a Coles/Coles Myer GC to buy another Coles/Coles Myer GC.

Secondly when buying a gift card you can only make one card payment. If you try splitting payment on card you will end up having to pay at the service desk.

    • Any tricks to do this? Can you transform Target or Kmart cards into Coles Myer group?

      Feel free to PM

      Thanks,
      Paul

I bought the eftpos card using the discounted Coles digital card (from RACQ) yesterday.

    • How much did you made out of it?

  • +1

I will be ordering a Coles $500 digital gift card from RACQ to buy 4 Visa cards from this deal. Thanks TA. .

    • BONUS points can only be collected once per flybuys household.

    • Coles checkout system no longer allows payment by gift card in any transaction where an item of a gift card nature has been included in the purchase, even say you buy the $100 visa gift card as part of your shopping and put a partial payment of flybuys dollars or gift card, nope doesnt work..

      • if your gift card have full amount? or physical gift card? possible?

  • 4 separate transactions with 4 different flybuys cards.

  • +1

Works if you pay solely with a digital Coles gift card. Doesn’t work with mixed payments.

  • Just went to Coles Malvern and really struggled to find one of these gift cards. I think I got the last one. Might have been ozbargained.

    • Yeah I couldn't find any yesterday too. The deal just started yesterday tho!

      • -3

Just grab some from Woolies,Big W,etc and activate them in Coles.

        • I won't do that. It's kind of stealing.

  • can u buy the gift card from coles online? using amex card? do they charge shipping fee or do u get a digital card? lol

    • +1

No you can't buy it online

  • Where is the Tas catalogue link?

  • Link is down.
