  • Any bargains for flights to Mumbai around Easter?

  • Op, those are f**ING amazing prices, I thought I had scored a deal via Thai for $740, apparently not…

    • Definitely a great deal from Singapore Air.

      Glad you enjoyed :)

  • This is great!!!
Could you please comment on the refund policy and the change of date policy?

It costs more to fly to Colombo from PERTH than anywhere else in Australia except Hobart???
    Perth to Colombo = 5763km
    Adelaide to Colombo = 7702km
    Melbourne to Colombo = 8351km
    WTF?

    • These are Sale fares. Perth gets plenty of great deals and often cheaper than any other city (ie. Bali for $155)

      http://www.flightscout.co/au/cheap-flights/perth-australia-t…

      • Wow - flights from Perth to Bali are cheap. Bali is closer to Perth than ADELAIDE is to Perth!!!
You want to compare, try comparing the cost of flights from Perth to Bali against flights from Sydney to Auckland - they are a pretty comparable distance, and a pretty comparable price.
When its cheaper to fly from Perth to Auckland than from Sydney - then you can complain.

      • Don't worry - I know its not your fault and I'm not blaming you.
I also know that airlines' pricing structure is not just based on distance.
It just p*ssed me off to see that Perth is so much more expensive when it is so much closer.

  • There are no Singapore Airlines flights from Perth via the link

    • There was only one when I posted, it may have expired however more may be discovered by the system again soon.

Retaliation to the new direct flights from Sri Lankan on the Melbourne-Colombo route.

    • Retaliation?for how long..

Too little too late imho. Fams already booked in srilankan, they had great fares all the way to India. This option is good only for travel direct to Colombo. Maybe sg will get the message and lower prices across the board with this additional competition.

I'm surprised, No comments about the actually travelling to Sri Lanka..? Many people who'd love to travel to this Island only complain about the air fares. It's a beautiful country with loads of rain forests, nice sandy beaches (among the best on the planet), thousands of years old history etc. You'll be amazed how much you get to see & experience in such a small Island.

Going in july Sri Lanka & Maldives 21days, agree with what your saying, sometimes people only look cheap airfare
to any destination. A Lot of times the destination is cheap and nasty hahah

    • Why not, could you explain?

      • Preface: I have been to > 60 countries. Between the 2 of us >80.

Value for money is poor compared to India in regards to daily expenses and points of interest are way overpriced on a global scale. Daily struggles regarding money the likes of which I had not encountered in years. Ended up cutting the holiday short (1st time I've ever done this) and went to Thailand for the rest of my leave. Obviously you might have a great time, but we didn't. :)

    • Was there a couple of years ago, and would thoroughly recommend it.

      And these are great fares.

Just a heads up this is a decent place to get a business class flight to Europe and avoid the Australia tax. I got business class CMB-LHR for $1500 return on Qatar.

There was someone complaining about not enough reviews about Sri Lanka. Well, maybe i can help since i lived there for a while since my birth.

If you're looking for a refreshing take on a country, Sri Lanka is a good place to be. It's not well known (it usually gets overshadowed by India) but hey, it's not all polluted there. People can talk English a bit, there's some great sightseeing stuff to see (like Kandy and it's famous Temple, or Seegiriya), stay at a nice hotel around a beach and so on. Colombo is pretty much the primary destination, it's got loads of people coming from overseas, and it's like a small version of Melbourne (well, except there's a lot of high-fashion and rich type of Sri Lankans).

Just make sure to take a travel guide (i don't think they're that expensive) if you're going to a lot of places. I could recommend my dad's brother (since he's doing some tour guide business) but i'm not sure if he's a travel guider himself so i gotta check. And don't buy a lot of stuff from there, since most of them are imported (like electronics and all that stuff) through India.

If anyone has any questions, i'll be happy to answer as possible as i can. I know some stuff but i only lived there for about half of my life before coming to Australia so i may be foggy on details, so pardon me for that.

Oh yeah, one more thing. This seems like a good deal, but with the introduction of direct flights from Melbourne-Colombo (i think from Sri Lankan Airlines) maybe it's worth paying the extra amount to save up that time spent on Singapore for a transit. I'm going on June so i was mostly looking for a direct flight deal (and hopefully there is one) but i haven't tried it before. Although my dad did and he said it's pretty awesome compared to the transit flight like this.

      Adding my inside tips here;

      Transport
      - Download PickMe or Uber for affordable travel
      - You can also get a car and driver for cheap for multi-day trips. Hotels generally provide free meals and accommodation for your driver.

      Food
      - Look for/Google restaurants which locals frequent. The best meals I had were outside the hotels and resorts. They are also ridiculously cheap. $10 could feed 4-5 people

      What to see
      - Kandy (culture and temples)
      - Sigiriya (UNESCO world heritage site)
      - Polonnaruwa (UNESCO ancient city)
      - Anuradhapura (Also UNESCO ancient capital)
      - Elephant safari at Minnerya (This is the highlight over everything in Sri Lanka but the majority of people have no idea. Outside of Africa, this is the only other country I know of where you can jump in the back of a jeep and see wild elephants roaming the plains of central Sri Lanka. Do not leave Sri Lanka without doing this!)
      - Pinnawala (stay in a river view room at one of the hotels on the river and watch the elephants from the local orphanage get a bath. You can also visit the orphanage across the road and stand roadside as 25+ elephants walk down to the river close enough to touch)
      - Stacks of coral reefs and snorkelling in the south, east etc. Look up Hikkaduwa.

      Happy to answer questions

  • Any deal from Melbourne to Singapore in December? (Maybe too early to ask at this time). Plan to celebrate Christmas with family there.

    • Booking 12 months in advance?! woah.

  • Flightscout, any chance of including Canberra in the list of Australian cities, seeing that Singapore Airlines flies directly to Canberra as well?

  • a full service airline so meals, luggage and seat selection are included in the fare.

Are you reading this Emirates/Qantas? Charging almost $150 on top of the ticket fare to select a standard seat to avoid being squashed in the middle row of 4!

  • I can't seem to get any of the Hobart dates to work, have I missed out?

    • There were limited dates on that route found by the system. Perhaps subscribe for updates to find them faster next time?

  • Sigh… and i’m flying mid jan-end jan for 1250 😭😭😭

  • What is the price for Mel-cmb return arriving 02/04 departing 11/04 please?

    Thanks
