I really dislike Apple However, I thought this was a pretty good deal…. considering the price of the iPhone 8. I didn't buy this so let everyone know if you have problems at checkout.

      and probably also this.

      http://www.iphonehacks.com/2018/01/iphone-6-huge-drop-perfor…

although there's a lot of uncertainty as to how much the performance drop is. HowToGeek did some digging of their own and found that the perf drop is probably around 17.5%, which sounds much less alarming than 30 or 40 percent.

      • +1

I also noticed something similiar with my tab s2. After upgrading to android 7.0. My geekbench 4 multi score decreased to ~3600, before it was ~3950. Single core performance descreased a tiny bit. But 41% is unacceptable.

        • It just means that iPhone uses the CPU Prefetch feature alot more then android did

      • Thanks for this info. Was gonna get the wife an iPhone 6 tomorrow

    • Probably not as this is factory sealed. But I'm no expert on batteries.
But yeah as someone who had iPhone 6. I would strongly suggest to stay away from this in 2018 until you want an iphone because it's an iphone. If you want an iphone for sake of it, you can get cheaper refurb iphone 6 deals on ebay.

or get iPhone 6s refurb phone from Apple for $469

        That's the US store…

        But I wouldn't buy a 6 these days. 1GB of RAM just ain't enough, even for iOS…

        • +1

Oh yes, my bad that is indeed US store.
iOS 12 on iphone 6 makes it painfully slow.

        • @klownvandamn: How do you know? iOS 12 hasn’t even been released.

        • @aja12: iOS 11 lol i can't type for shit

The coupon is $10 off not 10% off..

Also, afaik Big W isn't listed on CR, and if it is, Apple products will most likely be excluded.

Edit: He's probably referring to Big W's eBay store, which this deal isn't from.

I wouldn't get an iPhone 6. It's too slow on iOS 11 due to its 1GB RAM. If you're getting an old iphone model, go for at least a 6S.

    • +3

      or SE

      • +2

Mine's fine, but a 6S would be better for future proofing, if I was getting a new one. It depends what you want to use it for. Games and social media needs something with enough resources to run that overloaded bloatware.

A 32GB one is likely not to be used for carting around movies and games.

Stuff like adblocking and/or Firefox and Firefox Focus help you to deal with slow networks and ad-laden sites. Web browsing is lightening fast.

Networking and VPN, simple messaging, phone and the apps I need are all fast. Just try not to leave the bigger apps running when not being used, and avoid fb messenger or other bloated crapware that impacts your online cleanliness and spends all the phone's background resources sending your private data to the ad-slingers, marketers and anyone else that can pays or require it.

        • SE is newer then 6S

          • than
        • bloatware and crapware is all problem on all phones , apple and android.

amazing how much better they run run and battery life when cleaned up.

        • @asa79: Yes, but the SE has identical internal specs to the 6s.

        • @jesse085: Its based on 6S hardware some things still not the same

$460 for an ugly-ass three and a half year old phone? lololololol

    • +3

Or $1700 for a new one :D People buy them anyway

      • Considering iphone re-sell value, you could buy Iphone X for $1700 then sell it 3 years after for half the price($850). It ain't so bad, isn't it? Its still better value compare to Samsung phone.

        • Do you reckon there will be a day when all the iSheep realise there are more brands than Apple and Samsung?

You could buy a HTC U11 for $636 and sell it three years later for $300? $336 is much better value than $850 and you have the peace of mind Apple won't brick your phone after 2 years with their "performance updates" that make your device so slow.

        • +2

          "iSheep"

="I am superior to you dumb Apple buyers".

          That's convincing, sign me up.

        • +2

people realise there are other brands, and other OSs, but they buy the one they are most comfortable with, and what ecosystem they already use, for some the aftesales service whether in australia or overseas.

i have android phone and apple tablet ….

        • if used for business, people, also claim and depreciate and dispose of at the book value for tax but sell on gumtree for street price …… so the TCO over the life of the phone is attractive.

    • one smart phone looks the same as another when turned off …. just a big glass screen.

it’s it not like they are distinctively designed by starck or alessi or alex perry. Smart phones don’t seem to have a following base on designers look much the same.

Target's ebay is still selling for $449. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Telstra-Apple-iPhone-6-32GB-…

That is before the 5% PICK5 code. I know Target has the Telstra-branded one. But, according to a lot of previous postings, they are unlocked out-of-the box. it was unlocked for Telstra's iPhone SE when I bought one.

  • +7

For someone that says they dislike apple you are keeping good track of their prices ;)

    • +2

Yeah, probably not worth negging over $10. Plus with Big W, 5% discounted gift cards can be purchased through Cash Rewards making it cheaper than Target.

      • -1

$426.55 from Target eBay as per @MINKx before Cash Rewards
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5525144/redir

JB Hi-Fi in the city had iPhone 6 for $399 in December in Sydney Westfield store

        • There is no Target Cash Rewards, so not sure what you mean by “before Cash Rewards”. $437 via Big W vs $426 from Target eBay is hardly worth negging. You seem to do a lot of research for someone that has never posted anything.

Target pick up is a joke too. They don’t use instore stock, they ship it to the store from their distribution centre. It takes a week.

So this Big W deal is a decent option for someone in need of a phone soon.

        • -2

@aja12: I'm saying Target eBay listing is a better deal. It takes 2 minute to Google.

        • @klownvandamn: I know what your saying, but Cash Rewards has no relevance to Target, so why mention it in the same sentence as if there is some kind of Cash back with Target?

        • @aja12: Please read my comment above.

If you buy from Target eBay store, you can claim Cash Rewards. On ozbargain, people are saving few cents so $11 is still saving.

        • @klownvandamn: Please read my comment above.

$11 saving at the cost waiting a week for the phone. Some people will appreciate the saving. Some people don’t want to wait a week for their phone for an $11 saving. Harsh neg for someone that went to the effort of posting something that may be useful for some people.

  • Pretty sure this was roughly the same price last year - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/325784
