  • Max only 150kg per shelf evenly distrubuted.

Bunnings one costs $460 to get 3.6m length, but is 4x stronger.

    • Typo? (should it be 62.5kg?) No way that flimsy metal can take almost 2.5 tonnes over four shelves.

      • Don't forget the weight has to be evenly spread. Actually own a couple of them for heavy tools/equipment and they've held up to their "heavy duty" name. Paid 150 at the time due to a special, but would gladly pay the current price if I needed some more storage.

    • The bunnings ones might say 625kg per shelf but I wouldn't trust it that high. I've personally seen and helped install both these designs and they look like they'd both take the same weight. I didn't buy the bunnings version personally, I got the other one during an ebay sale.

  • For those who are wanting shelving for cheap. In WA one of the auction houses had ex Masters shelving for sale. I suppose Melbourne might be the same.

    • Do you know if they've sold all the Masters shelves already in WA?

      • +1

Pretty sure they are all gone. Welshpool had another mob giving them away for free (I repurposed all their shelves for my new warehouse)

  • Seems like no shipping outside Melbourne! None to SA anyway…

I got mine of Ebay, it's better to buy 2 lots of 2x2x0.5, more flexibility in setting up, mine were $125 delivered per 2x2x0.5 set up as Ebay had one of their % off sales, currently $150 inc delivery.

yes strength is misleading as it's based on weight across all 4 shelves, not each shelf.

Mine are full of heavy tools, no problems.

Currently $150 inc delivery per 2x2x0.5 BUT you get an extra vertical if you wanted a 4x2x0.5 setup, and the verticals are $45 each plus delivery …..

    • Looks like a nice set, but weirdly low rating though. 150kg per shelf even though the design looks similar to the "rack it" modular shelves at bunnings which are rated at 1000kg per shelf. Not saying I would necessarily be comfortable loading them that much, but you know what I mean.

Edit: to be clear, if I didn't already have similar shelves, I would have been happy to buy these ones despite rating. Looks like a nice set.

    • +1 ive had these for about 6 years now they are great.

  • I have been shopping around and the quality is pretty much the same as these ones below.

Most of the online shops overrate their product to beat competition but it is pretty much the same thing.
The one I bought is this 2x2x0.6M: https://allstoragesolution.com.au/shop/Longspan-Shelving/800….
Good quality! you can feel the difference straight away by comparing to the cheaper ones.
    Hope it helps.

  • What I found with the weight carrying capacity is being able to lift stuff onto the shelf and how big the items are ….200kgs across 2m x 0.5m or 0.6m is a lot of stuff, especially for the 3rd and top shelf and you have to lift it shoulder height for 3rd shelf, and head height for the top shelf ….make sure Worksafe isn't around but that your private health insurance is paid up.

as the shelf size (depth) goes up, so does the rating and thickness of steel used (design is the same) as they anticipate you will put more stuff on the shelf.

  • I have shelves similar to this. I bought a heap of 100L tubs from Bunnings and these shelves fot 3 across.

My shelves are 600 deep instead of 500 like these and the tubs barely sit on them.

Just be careful that the 500 depth is enough if you plan on going ahead with these.

    Here's are some 600mm deep ones https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/161570826636

  • I used Dexion and a metal chop saw to custom build mine, has a 3.2m ceiling and wanted an L shaped shelf. Can't remember what I paid but lengths are about 30 bucks max from memory (and fasteners are included)

Just beware of 500mm depth. They're a tad short for my liking. 100L tubs will hang over quite a bit.

Maybe look @ 600mm depth ones on eBay.

    • i used 50 lite tubs and just makes the 500 deep shelves for 4 across, so yes, need to plan what you want to store to get right depth and not waste floor space. it also determines the shelf spacing so you can get the to
shelf as low as possible heat still fit tubs on the other shelves.

  • Should add that this is only for Melbourne Metro.
