  • A S905X-based TV Box at more than 2x the price of Mini M8S II with LibreELEC. Why?

Probably because it's 'plug and play', has long-term support and is a pretty hassle-free option for non techies.

    • Because great support and everything works out of the box. Not everyone wants to tinker around

everything works out of the box …

No it doesn’t - KODI is a work in progress - look at their Community forum - to see it ain’t less than what you get in LibreELEC forum.

  • May as well get a raspberry pi and install libreelec or for the less challenged a h96 pro plus that has access to playstore…..

    • OSMC is for RPi too.

      • OSMC is good, my preference is libreelec.

    • May as well get a raspberry pi

π can’t do HD Audio passthrough (nor MPEG2 without a license).

Clearly many people here haven't tried OSMC.

    • Hi PainToad - I am looking at trying OSMC. Is it any good with streaming content via FTP and/or IPTV? I dont have much in my local library, so I would mostly use it to stream content from online servers etc.
Thx in advance for your help! :-)

you should probably hit up https://discourse.osmc.tv/ The community is pretty helpful and you might have your question already answered in there.

  • Not a bad unit, so far has played everything, but rewinding doesn't work properly, and you cannot power off the unit, so you need to get behind your TV and switch it off at the wall. It does get hot so this is a shame. It will also "take over" your ARC/HDMI settings, so if you ever switch it off at the power point you might have to reconfigure all your ARC sound bar settings manually each time…Support is good, the guy replies, but so far no solutions :(
