  • CPU Cooler:
    AMD Stock Cooler

1600X doesn't come with a stock cooler, so I'd be curious as to what they're actually using.

    • True.

I wouldn't be surprised if it comes with the cheapest cooler available for the AM4 socket.

      • +5

When they don't tell you the actual parts i assume it's pretty much the cheapest of everything.

        • The case is a Thermaltake…lol but yes it will be the cheapest brand of everything I'm sure, but still a Value for money system

      • +5

They could have a surplus of Wraith coolers from customer builds that have opted for aftermarket coolers. Not sure if that's good form for a company to do that but would surely save money for them?

        • That's possible. I think the stores that sell "custom prebuilds" generally only ship you what will fit inside a motherboard box.

    • +2

i think they may have purchased the amd wraith one separately for it ?

      • For a price of this build I highly doubt they would have done that.

        • AMD sells those coolers for retail, I'm sure system builders will have no problems ordering them for OEM price.

    • Sounds like they're using the cooler that goes on the non-X version …

  • +4

seems like a good price for a pc that could play pretty much everything

      • +5

what are you talking about lmao.

this pc would be fine with most modern games.

        • +2

@dabell: no, at med-high settings. Of course these things depend on other factors as well (e.g you'd be right if we're talking about 4k), but generally I'd classify this system as high end.

        • -5

          @BoredMartian:

          High end?

          um lets see…

          Ryzen 3 Ryzen 5 Ryzen 7…. the 1600x is?? Ryzen 5! Middle!

          Rx550 RX560 RX570 RX580 Vega56 Vega 64 the RX570 is??? MIDDLE!

          DDR4 RAM frequencies… 2133mhz is…. the lowest you can go for DDR4…

so which part is high end???

        • +4

          @dabell: sigh… i can't believe i've been lured into a troll's cave

Very average ram for a ryzen rig. Too slow. Minimum 3000mhz.

  • Might be able to run crysis with that card.

"OS: Not Included ( Please purchase Windows Upgrade Option)"

OP should add $180 to this bundle.

    • Why? there are a lot of well supported Linux distros that are free to download, or become a student at most universities to get a free copy of Windows 10 Education, or if you are not going to be using your old computer any more, you can 'transfer' an old licence of Windows that you have purchased (not from an OEM) to a new motherboard, just call Microsoft to override activation with the old product key.

      • -2

So go with a free platform with a negligible take up rate (Linux), or enroll at a university for a cheap copy of Windows…. Solid options

        • +2

Windows licenses can now be tied to your Microsoft account. Simply login and Windows activates.
You may not need to even purchase Windows any more in the future because of how this works.

Pretty sure I've mentioned this before in one of my Windows 10 forum posts.

  • How's this compared to the Dell Ryzen deal?

    • +3

      This deal? https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/332339297724

      I'm comparing too. main differences:
      PCByte:
      - AMD X370 Chipset Mobo
      - 16GB RAM 2133MHz
      - 256GB SSD
      - 600W Bronze PSU

      Not in PCByte:
      - No OS
      - No optical drive
      - No wireless LAN

      Dell:
      - 8GB DDR4 2400MHz
      - Window 10 Home
      - 128GB M.2 SSD
      - Tray Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner
      - Wireless LAN
      - 460W PSU
      - Keyboard/mouse
      - 1 year warranty

  • Can anyone tell me if they come assembled or each part in individual retail packaging? I've never bought bundle before.

    • you are paying for it to be built. it won't come in individual retail packaging, you might be able to ask them, when placing the order, to not pre-install the graphics card (insert component here) - to get a higher resell value on it.

      • Cheers. I think this is a good value PC, but PSU is non-upgradable.

      • Good idea. Add the 570 directly onto your mining rig, and put a cheap card in this workhorse.

  • I'm holding out. Now that pcie 4 and 5 have been announced.

But if I needed one right now this seems like a decent offer

    • Have cards saturated PCI-E 3 yet?

      • No

Linus put a vid on FB but i can't find it to link it.

  • +1

It's frustrating somewhat that the picture shows a water cooler, but the build doesn't have a water cooler in it (don't get me wrong - i don't think it should be water cooled at this price).

If the picture is wrong in regards to the water cooler, what else is wrong?

EDIT: listing shows SLI'd NVIDIA graphics cards. I know there must be a million different permutations of builds that they do but how could you know what you were getting looked remotely like the picture?

  • Man, the arrival of this deal makes me almost regret building a Ryzen 1600 rig, last week for $970.
$200 more for a much better, hard-to-obtain GPU; an extra HDD; better PSU; better CPU; same mobo; better SSD and comparable case.

    • What GPU did you get for 970?

      • Just a RX560 for $135. Didn't care much for gaming when I built this thing, since I just wanted the Ryzen 1600.

        • So you bought an X370 mobo? I think a B350 mobo is probably better value and you can save the extra for better GPU

        • @xiabonan: Yeah, I kinda made the mistake of thinking it could be better for OCing in the future. It was only $26-50 more than an appropriate B350 board. Besides, if I really wanted a better GPU, I'd probably wait for Volta/Navi, let alone the mining gold rush to calm down.

        • How'your OC? I got 3.9GHz on my 1600. Had no luck pushing it to 4.0GHz. Perhaps I should try an after market cooler

  • Hmmm Asia Pac is not included for the free Quake Champion Ryzen promo…stingy AMD

  • Great price, even with the cheapest components you could not build this yourself for that price.

  • If my son follows my advice will purchase tonight and able to answer questions about the cooler etc. Looks like When I first looked only one sold. Now lists 6. Any suggestions on a gaming monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset?

    • There's just one left on this listing as I write this, so better decide quickly!

      • +1

Thanks. Got it. Phew!!!Shows zero unless the decide to add more. It did start with more than 10.

        • Would have been a shame if you missed out after finding it.

  • One left

    • Still showing $1469 ($1175 after discount) for me, only 1 unit remaining though.

Ahh you edited your post. Oh well.

      • +1

yeah it showed over $2000 for a short time with 4 left then when I refreshed it just said one left and the price hads gone back to what it was. Pretty sure my eyes didnt deceive me. Didnt get a screenshot though

Ebay History shows a price change at 5:30pm and then another price change at 5:38pm and a quantity change so i wasnt imagining it !!

        • I was refreshing the page and noticed the stock change and also swear I saw the amount sold per hour shift from 4 to 6 to 2 in a couple of minutes.

I'll take your word for it that the price went up to 2k for a bit. I wouldn't be surprised if after they did increase the price to 2k that they then thought people may notice, so they put it back to the original price and changed the quantity to just one left.

          Something dodgy is afoot!

  • Probably just a cheap way to get an RX 570 :P

  • 2 in stock now.

  • Back down to 1

  • Any alternatives?

  • +1
