  • That's a good price. Question rep, if I need to get the add-ons, it could be done through manage booking in scoot website directly after I bought?

    • If you are purchasing extra baggage weight, you will end up paying more after buying the tickets. Best to buy it at time of purchasing the tickets for the best price.

    • Hi,

I am not sure if the addons cost more later on rather than at the time of booking. It definitely costs extra when adding later on Tigerair, but not sure for Scoot.

It is definitely possible to do the addons after the initial purchase.

    • I've flown scoot many times, and trust me, you do not want to "add-on" meals, during the booking, after the booking, or during the flight. It is by absolutely the worst food i've ever had on any airline…..in fact it is so bad, the flight attendants (who are embarrassed to serve it) don't even like to make eye contact with customers when presenting it.

As for luggue fees, here are the pre and post purchase prices: http://www.flyscoot.com/images/plan-your-trip/scoot_fees_cha…

      • not true in re to Scoot's food. The food is certainly not the best, but not the worst either. Overall its more than satisfying and I found it tasted delicious.

        • not true in re to Scoot's food

It was expressing a opinion on comparing meals I'm had with scoot to other meals I've had with other airlines….. Such a statement cant be "not true" any more than saying "I don't like chicken" is "not true"!

Anyway….It's The hot meals I'm referring to…..$18 for this? No thanks. http://www.airlinemeals.net/photos/airline-meals/scoot/sin-t…

why bother about food on plane, flight i booked is 1:30pm, just have a heavyh lunch and right after I arrive in Singapore at 7pm, go straight for chilli crab !!!

        • @ash2000: Oh my! That is scarily bad!! I rather pack my own food on board.

        • @ash2000:

1.you forgot the "in my opinion", your statement can be a mislead to some people here. ;)
2.And also you didn't even mention about the pricing in your original statement and now you do? Of course it has to be expensive, its a budget airplane…in a way.
3.you didnt mention anything about 'comparing' to which airline?

Not trying to attack you in any ways but its better to put good and informative comment so that you dont mislead people who never use this airplane before.

        • @lameve30:

…… Anyway a great price for a 8+ hour (ex East Coast) flight!

        • @kaikor: I love chilli crab too :)

    Good price.

  • Hi rep, anything planned for London flights?

    • +2

      Hi,

This might not help you specifically but it may help someone else.

A lot of people that travel to London often visit other countries in Europe as well but assume a return ticket is the cheapest option. These days, reputable airlines like Qatar, Thai and Singapore all will often offer cheaper tickets when you return via Milan, for example. Same goes with Chinese airlines and being already cheap they end up much cheaper via resellers on Skyscanner and IWTF etc.

But anyway, May is generally an affordable time to travel to Europe if interested. The "specials" are usually only $200 off or less for that time of year and may come with a catch (like my Thai Airways tickets). If you're planning to eat and check in luggage it's not worth messing around with Scoot and Norwegian airlines for low season.

      • Thankyou for your advice Peter. Unfortunately have to travel in February. Will have more of a look around.

price match jetstar also a go

    • How did you price match may I ask, by contacting them ?

      • +1

live chat… they will look up the site themselves and then confirm the price …. all up takes 10min…

        • +1

Have they brought Live Chat back? AFAIK they stopped it, but you fill in the details like normal and then they email you later with a link to the price matched flights.

        • @smpantsonfire:

Live chat only seems to work with an INTERNATIONAL price match.

OP, so I'd get return at that price if I'd travel in May to August?

  • No matter what payment you use for Scoot, they always charge $20 per person payment processing fee …

    • Really? I thought POLI did not have extra fees…

      • Yeah when I pay, either paypal or CC, both requires $20/passenger fee, anyway even after paying $12/person/flight for seat selection, for $302 direct flight returned on Dreamliner 787 still bloody cheap! Plus still got 10kg hand carry limit include either handbag/laptop too, can't complain …

      • +1

        You are correct, Nacho.
POLI does not have extra fees.

  • Flying to Thailand in May.
Should I fly direct or transit in Singapore via Scoot?

    • Depends on your budget & how much time you've got.
You could spend a night or two in Singapore & have a look around.

    • I tried to search for this combo too, if you choose as a transfer, max time difference between flights is 1 day, hence if you want to stay back Singapore longer, you need to book SIN<->THAI separately.

  • Can anybody tell me a rough price on a week in Singapore? Food & Accommodation?

I'm not fussed on 5 Star hotels, just cheap places hostels/airbnb. But food and activities?

    Thanks

    • +2

Just do airbnb, it's quite nice.

Food depending on what you want to eat..note the exchange rate is pretty much 1 to 1 with AUD.

If you decide to go to food courts to eat, then it's dirt cheap. How many of you are going? We had a group of 8 and we ordered like 15 dishes at the food court and it was like 15 bucks each..

      • Flights are so cheap I'll probably end up booking and going by myself for a week or so.

Just had a quick Airbnb search, roughly $800 for 6 nights for a whole unit/home.

Seems quite doable on a small budget.

        Thanks!

        • +1

yeah mate definitely do it! If you are going by yourself just go to different food courts! lmao I've been there twice, i didn't really see attractions..mainly just party and eat!

        • bare in mind alcohol is VERY EXPENSIVE in clubs..

On a side note if you need accommodation like using trivago.com.au for searching hotels, beware that different time during the day gives you different prices, the hotel I am looking for is $183/nite before 9am, once its like office hours, it jumped to $213 !!! Don't understand why, lucky I noticed that and saved myself $30/nite.

    • +3

Always use incognito mode when booking accommodation ..my mate is a software engineer and he told me they are very sneaky about it..they track ur activities

    Thanks from Bangkok

  • I noticed the dates. Is the price valid for a week holiday only?

  • The prices in the header are always more expensive when you click on a link,
scoot $61 20kg each way, processing fee, the popups and overall slow laborious wait when
selecting different dates make that site unusable for me, think they would have a month
view depicting prices for each day.
