Fourth year running I've posted this. Found as many as I possibly could in the time I had. Quite sure a few have been missed, and I'm certain other councils will add more in the coming days. Feel free to post some up in the comments. Check entry/start times as they vary across locations. Hope this list comes in handy on Australia Day. Enjoy :)

What a shame no one within half hour drive of my place in Vic. I have to said not many options within an 10km radius from Melbourne CBD.

  same, i think it’s because some inner city councils don’t approve of celebrating australia day on the 26th so giving free pool pass is like a celebration ……
  
  damn i wanted a free swim today ….. it’s $8 at my local pool otherwise plus parking …… you almost have to stay the day to get your money worth.

I caught tinea in a public pool.

Pro tip, avoid the showers and whatever you do, don't lather up.

  Best to wear thongs (flip flops) in showers and keep your feet safe. Dry between the toes; never had tinea myself.
  
  Lathering up a problem? Well just rinse the pool water off.
  
  Sounds like the pools are safer for a swim than the sea though. We don't all have access to a nice clean river (minus a few crocs) in the rainforest.

  Put tea tree oil (or metho) between your toes using a cotton ball after showering. Tinea problem solved.

The way I see it they have three options:

Accept payment and be such a disaster you will want to demand your money back, and customers will be soured of the venue

Close the venue for the day

Make it free for the day so you are less likely to complain or hold it ill to the venue

      Not an urban myth at all. If you have bacteria in your urine there's something wrong - usually an infection of the urinary tract.
      That doesn't necessarily mean I want to bathe in it.

      Yup, it's sterile, meaning there's no bacteria. But the contents of urine itself are great for bacteria to grow in.
      
      Poo is definitely NOT sterile. I remember someone calling a radio show once, telling Australia that poo was sterile. Nursing student. Emphasis student.

TA, one more for the list, free evening movie in the pool at Hibiscus Sports Complex, Upper Mt Gravatt, Brisbane. There will be a BBQ there with food available for purchase from 6pm. I don't think pool entry is free before 6pm, the event page is vague on that.

Movie starts 6PM, the movie is "Sing" (animated) with voices of Matthew McConaughy and Reese Witherspoon. Similar to Zootopia, IMDB link http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3470600/
