  • Probably to cover you for the fuel for the rental car for when your Peugeot breaks down….

    • I have a 308 - 7 years old now, over 220000km - never had a hiccup.

      • Wait a few years more. My 20 years accord still run fine with nearly 300k on the clock.

        • Please tell me more. When exactly did your Peugeot break down? How long do I have?

          @thevofa:

I bought a 3 year old CC and within a few weeks the right side mirror fell off and was dangling via the wires, the roof failed to work and the driver seat adjustments failed to lock into place so your seat slides up and down during braking. A few of my friends owned a 308 and the number of times their cars broke down is not even funny.

I would say avoid like a plague. Same category as Land Rovers, Rovers and Alfas.

    • And for the premium petrol it uses

      • At a total of 5L/100km combined road type.

so the dealer can pester you all the way to your address until you buy the car

    • They don't get your Address. Just an email for setting a time I reckon that you can unsubscribe.

      • +2

All salespeople will take a photocopy of your driver's license, just in case you crash the test car. And they'll record your mobile number too. All the details they need to pester you later on.

        • What happens if you crash the test car ?
I've only just got my full license recently. Im certainly not planning on crashing a car which is unaffordable for me at this time. But if you do crash it or damage it, it's insured and you don't have to pay do you ?

        • @ozzpete: I don't know, but the assumption is the cars are insured and you pay the excess. The excess may be rather high however. It's probably buried in the release form you sign when test driving a car.

      • "Fuel card will be mailed to recipient within 4 weeks of test drive completion and can only be used at participating BP outlets"

    • Some let you take the car home for the night these days. Guess that's another way to find out where you live.

      • -1

I'll give address of my grandad. :)

      • +2

When you test drive you need to first show your drivers license and sign a form, they would already have your address at that point.

  • +1

How does these things work? Does someone sits next to you and talk as you drive or do they just give you the car for a few minutes?

    • Someone will come with you and sit next to you while you drive the car

    • If it's the hot secretary, and I can take it overnight… I'm in.

  • +4

downside is you have to drive a peugeot..

  • Only one garage in WA.

remember done one of these from Jeep campaign the sleazy salesmen drag me on and on about getting the car rather about the $50 fuel card. go through my family my finance my life all sort. then get a test drive finally. drag me to talk to sales and finance manager after. whole process over 1.5 hours. after few months still not receive my fuel card call up the dealer spoken with that sales manager and they mention don't have my details or test drive record. then that point you know got tricked n they are full of sh#$#$t

I would definitely avoid these $50 bait. $100 or $150 might consider it…

    • Car salesmen the most trustworthy ppl of all occupations.

    • +1

Luckily It took me literally 10 mins for the whole process. Including test driving and coming out of the car yard

    • +1

Of course they go on about the car rather than the fuel card - it's a test drive of a car. That's hardly a surprise.

It's not sleazy to talk to you about the car you're test driving, and to determine whether you are even serious about maybe buying the car (because, let's be honest, even among OzBargainers, one or two is highly likely to say "hey, actually, this is pretty nice. I think I might get one"). That's actually their job.

      • +2

Not gonna argue with that, but not honoring the fuel card in the end is low… and claims that there were no details or drive record is even lower.

    • What did they do that was sleazy?

  • Is this offer just for the 308? or does it include its variants as well?

    • As far as I know Only for 308 model

      • Test drive any new PEUGEOT 208 or PEUGEOT 308 by January 31, 2018 and receive a $50 BP fuel card*

        • I reckon you can Test Tickle a 208 or you can Test Tease both the 208 and 308

          @bonz:

Wouldnt mind testing the GTi. :)

        • @googleyahoo69:
          Yes, beats the STi ;)

        • @bonz: well at least its a bit of fun getting an STI

        • @BeRad: time to see a GP now

        • @bonz:
Does that mean I can have 2 Test Tickles?

        • @Test Tickles: male drivers get to have two

        • Male drivers get RSI

          edit: oops wrong thread.

  • I'd drive it if it comes in manual transmission.

    If Automatic, forget it lol

    • I think the GTi comes in manual, but I dunno if its included in the deal

      • That’s what I actually went to test drive but Perth Dealership doesn’t have GTI in stock !

    • +1

      I'll practice/learn manual driving on it ;)

  • Wouldn't mind test driving the 3008- looks awesome

"What are the advantages of this car to say, a train? Which I can also afford"

    • So you can easily commute when Sydney train drivers go on a strike.

  • i will need that fuel card to drive to a dealer….

  • Is the deal still valid? Nothing mentioned on link…

  • +2

Did test drive, in the end sales guy tells fuel card offer withdrawn previous day

  • Went to Peugeot Artarmon today and the salesman said we will get the $50 vouchers from Peugeot. We have tried the 208 and the 308 gti. It was fun and did not have to fill in multiple forms or have extensive chat to them. Now let’s hope for the best :)
