Not the lowest price yet but still a good find :)

    • +1

Didn't see that posted so wasn't aware :) Description changed

      • You changed the part towards the end but the very start of the description isn't changed

    • -1

Think of us might as well not bother.

    • +2

Lowest price yet for "local stock".

If you take this phone out of your pocket in Vietnam, you will be stabbed to death and your body chopped up and fed to the pigs.

  • +63

I love how for iPhone users, $1600 is considered a bargain for a phone.

    • +9

I didn't even realize it had reached this level of exploitation

    • +14

Not really. I think it’s absolutely insane how expensive this phone is. Don’t lump us all together.

      • +10

Yep, Iphone user for 10 years and this latest insult has finally made me jump ship to Samsung. In saying that, I am not getting on well with my Samsung.

        • -7

I am not getting on well with my Samsung

You'll be back. ;) Follow your instincts.

        • +19

This is why you should've bought a Windows phone

Windows phone is the best. Smokes any iPhone.

        • +1

          What problems are you having?

        • +6

As a past Android user, Samsungs are NOT the way to go.

        • +4

@BrodenIt: forgot your sarcasm hint sign?

        • +1

Samsung's fine, its the shitty versions of the android app vs iOS thats getting me (eg snapchat). I've kept my iphone as a second phone and flip back to it when I get tired of the Android BS

        • +4

Remember the good ol' days when $900 was expensive for an iPhone? And when there was only one iPhone model…

        • -5

@BargainKen: Disagree, Samsungs slow down soooo much after the first month.

        • Note 8 was $1400+ at launch. This is probably where the market is heading.

        • What's up? Maybe we can help.

        • +2

@BargainKen: My note8's going ok so far… which samsung did you get?

        • @BargainKen: S3, S5, S7, all had the same issue.
I'm glad your Note 8 is going well, but I will never again buy a Samsung.

        • +3

@theguyrules: Yeah TouchWiz does that :)

        • @Procyon: the dollar was at parity back then

        • -2

@BargainKen:there are a ton of replacement apps for touchwiz so this comment is irrelevant.

        • +2

@The Monk: TouchWiz still remains resident in memory unless you get another ROM for the phone.

        • @BrodenIt: Windows Phone really is/was the best. The tiles really work well with a mobile screen. If only Windows didn't burn all their goodwill with the masses, the app developers would have been more committed, and the only problem with Windows mobile (the app store) would have been solved.

        • friend of mine did the same, saw him the other day and he was using an old 6s, asked him what happened to S8, responded it's with Samsung for warranty :|
Saying that I believe iphone x is overpriced by a lot, this trend should stop otherwise iphone 20 will cost around 10K

    • +21

I love how for every iPhone deal, there's always a comment like this :)

      • +6

Android users commenting on Apple deals is expected like, Vegans commenting on hunting or meat cooking videos on youTube.

I have no problem with Vegans or Android users, but can not understand why anyone would bother with such commenting.

        • I think it's an inferiority complex

      • +2

        We meet again.

      • I knew He Who Must Not Be Named was behind Apple…

    • +1

If there was a better alternative out there… was hoping google would hit it out of the park with Pixel 2, but sadly it wasn't to be..

      • Haha

      • Pixel 2 XL is a great phone but the hardware quality control has really let it down

Galaxy S8+ / Note 8 is a great alternative though

      • What about an iPhone 8? Seems like a good alternative to me! Or even an iPhone 7. I’ve used pretty much every iPhone until a few years ago and would be unlikely to jump ship but iPhone X doesn’t do it for me. Besides the price, I don’t even think it’s a particularly good looking phone and I find it way too heavy. I’m yet to meet an iPhone X user who is a true advocate of this device.

    • +4

12% off rrp, reflective of price jacking and the reality of ebays non 20% off sales.

      • Imagine how well it works on the general public when so many "professionals" get fooled over and over again.

    • +3

      I don't, I'm sticking with my 7.

      • Agreed, always buy a generation or two behind.

    • +1

Yeah I won't pay more than $400 for an iphone.

      • +1

Wow… I wonder what phone do you use?

I was an iPhone user until Recently, was put off by the price of iPhone X. But if IPhone X is similarly priced to the Note 8 I have bought at HN @ 978, I am sure I will get the iPhone X.

        • Check out the iPhone 8, regular iPhone prices with most of the new technology. I think there will even be an iPhone 9 as they try to milk the iPhone X price for as long as they can. I am not paying $1500+ for a phone…

        • +1

          @mrhatken:

will need the 8+ at least, but I didn't like the old design and big bazel.

        • +2

Why do people compare the Note 8 to the X? They're NOTHING alike. If anything the form factor is comparable to the Samsung S8 (5.8" screen, 3-4GB RAM etc).

The Note8 is flagship sure, but it has a stylus, 6.3" screen etc. Comparing the Note to the X is like comparing a station wagon to a coupe…

The X needs to have a larger model with more of that gorgeous OLED screen released, perhaps at a more realistic price-point.

        • I use a HTC 10.

        • +1

          @victorheaven: in PCTECH sale the iPhone 8 64GB is $847.2 and iPhone 8 Plus 64GB is $991.2

        • @BargainKen: Because they're both premium device offerings from Apple and samsung.

        • +1

@Trishool: but they are nothing alike. Had them side by side for a week. Completely different phones.

        • @BargainKen: Yes I know. Not sure why you're stating the obvious.

        • -1

Lol thanks but I didn't mean it in a way that I won't pay more than $400 for a phone. I'd happily buy a note 8 or oneplus 5T. It's just that I don't value an iPhone.

      • i don't think theres any iphone for less than $400 lol

even my recent iphone SE 256GB was $550 or something like that lol
and thats my upgrade from iphone 5S lol

        • SE was much cheaper on sale than $550. $399 I think.

        • +2

          @no not me:

purchased mine in october for $571
where did you find a iphone SE for $399 with 256GB? maybe thats the current price now lol

don't know why my previous comment got a neg but ok

        • @prankster: my mistake. 32GB, didn’t notice you said 256GB.

    • I love how other people like to comment how others spend their money..

      • This is ozbargain. Of course people are going to comment on dumb products

    • -1

The iPhone X is the ludicrously high end for a phone hardware tier, the iPhone 8 is what Apple fans should be buying.

in PCTECH sale the iPhone 8 64GB is $847.2 and iPhone 8 Plus 64GB is $991.2

    • I'm an iPhone user and I don't consider $1600 to be a bargain for a phone.

  • +14

Congrats on deal post number 100 stuhtb! Great work :)

      Thanks TA :)

Crap I missed my 500 and it wasn't even a good post !!

  • +18

Jeeze thats the price of a decent laptop and a phone. Mental

    • -3

would get more business productivity out of a phone than a laptop these days…

      • +8

Yeah true, then this phone is only about 1000 dollars overpriced.

      • +1

If you are in the habit of using a 5.8" screen laptop. Otherwise it will drive you mad.

    • +6

I just calculated all the battery powered tech I own doesn't add up to $1600.

  • +9

Funny how in the listing description it has got the price as 1729.00 in big letters.. with the auction price jacked up to $2011.00 for the eBay promotion

  • 2011?

  • +1

    any iPhone 8+ deal?

    • same..looking for 256GB

    • +1

in PCTECH sale the iPhone 8 64GB is $847.2 and iPhone 8 Plus 64GB is $991.2

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Apple-Phone-8-8-Plus-64GB-256GB-…

      • Do you know whether this is AU stock and whether we have to pay tax?

        • Sorry I missed the $99 postage on it and it's definitely outside of AU HK delivery. Not sure about the tax declaration, sometimes Chinese sellers undervalue the packages they send out but you may get stung with it.

  • Technically it's 12% off Apple RRP, it's not bad considered it's Au stock and GST included.

  • +4

If it is aus stock, how can it only be carrying 12 month warranty????

    • that is the apple warranty

      • Can someone explain what this means? Is it saying that the '12 month warranty' is in ADDITION to the standard Australian 24 month consumer protection warranty? i.e. the Apple 12 month warranty runs concurrent along with the 24 month Australian warranty, and for example: even at 20 months after the apple warranty has expired, you can claim a broken iPhone under the Australian warranty?

If this is correct, what's the point of stating the Apple 12 month warranty? Does it provide additional benefits?

        • +1

The comparison table of what each type of warranty covers is here:
          https://www.apple.com/au/legal/statutory-warranty/

        • @Agret: Thanks for that, it does clear things up a bit. So technically it is a 24 month warranty.

with the possibility of a little bit longer: "Apple acknowledges that the Australian Consumer Law may provide for remedies beyond 24 months for a number of its products."?

        • @Smol Cat: Yes “technically” due to consumer law.
I was more so pointing out to nushydude that the seller’s product can in fact be Aus stock because 12 months is the official warranty.

        • +1

@Smol Cat: the long and short of it is that while it's covered by the apple warranty you can make claims directly through apple and request support from them but after your Apple warranty expires you are covered by the ACL still but that is with the place you bought it from so must go through them for claims rather than Apple

  • +4

I thought standard warranty for the iphone x was 24 months??

And (profanity) these price jackers. Not falling for their shit.

  • +5

    Cheap as chips
    I’ll get 5

    • +3

You forgot to add a 0 at the end

          With no decimal places*****

  • Would JB hifi price match?

    • +1

      Good luck with price matching.
I believe JB Hifi wont price match to ebay.

    • +7

      They might match $2011..

  • +3

So RRP is around $1829 but they are selling it for $2011, way above the RRP. If they are authorised apple re-seller, Apple might want to look into that.

    • If they’re an authorised reseller, that might be why they have to jack the prices. From memory, Apple only allow a certain amount of discounting off their RRP if you’re to remain an authorised reseller.

      • But they are not discounting, their invoice will say $2011, and they will receive $2011 into their account. They have fees to pay eBay for sure, but as far as transaction goes they are selling for $2011, way above rrp.

        • I have no idea about the pricing arrangements that Apple have with their re-sellers, but I doubt they try to control pricing above RRP. After all, RRP is recommended. Our organisation sets a BP for sales agents which cannot be discounted under without GM approval, but they can definitely get 'overs' if they are able to sell it for more.

Personally I figure if they can sell it for $2011, which will be rebated via ebay to them, then good on them! Ultimately the consumer gets a cheaper price and the seller makes more profit. Sounds like a win-win. Of course if they kept the original RRP and applied the discount, they may get significantly more sales, but if they are stock limited then they will be worse off.

        • @wildstone: If you forget to put the voucher code in, then yes the seller will receive $2011 for the phone. Otherwise you are incorrect: $2011 - 20% discount ($402.20) = $1608.80 paid, which is less than their normal price of $1729, which is still less than Apple's $1829 price.

Now here is where it gets interesting; apparently the Seller absorbs most of this (theoretical) discount, with eBay stumping up only a small percentage of the 20% reduction (according to this comment from Computer Alliance).

As @bargaineer and @Fybre have indicated an Apple Authorised Reseller cannot sell Apple products below a certain price set and controlled by Apple, so to be part of these sales they have to increase the list price to allow for the discount.

So lets assume 5% of the list price is paid to the Seller by eBay; the Seller would still receive $1709.35. This turns out not to be a big difference from their original list price, so the actual discount to the Seller in this instance is minimal.

This higher list price actually works in your favour if you are heading overseas in the next 60 days, because you can also claim back the GST on the list price of $2011, which is an additional $201.10. This means you have effectively paid just $1407.70 for a phone that retails at $1829.
