PICK5

Microsoft are clearing the 1st Gen of their surface books. I own one of these and it’s the best laptop I’ve ever owned. For business use, it’s fantastic.

$1,614.05 is a great price.

      Mine's pretty good.

      do you own one?

      • +1

yup mine with i5 has pretty good battery. about 6+ hours of use on average

        • that's awesome to hear, i don't own one but from what i read the issue with battery life was software related.

  • +3

Can’t say I’ve ever found the battery to be a problem. I’ve had mine since it was launched, no complaints

    • is performance base worth it? it probably is

Great devices, the only complain is the Adobe RGB colour gamut isn't great :-(
Also the last windows update took days to complete!

I've been wanting to buy one of these for a while, any complaints/things I should know?

  • Just wondering does it come with any warranty or you have to buy it separate? And if it breaks down, do you contact MS or the ebay person?

    • +2

Standard Microsoft warranty, it’s sold by Microsoft

  • Will it come with tax invoice for TRS?

    • +1

Nope… Seller may provide a plain text invoice in an email if you follow up in eBay message

      • Big question mark to whether seller is local in Australia which may lead to warranty issue when required. Microsoft will definitely ask for proof of purchase at time of repair.

        • +1

I bought one of these a few months back. Turns out it's definitely one of Microsoft's ABNs, so totally legit. I had a lemon which I took into the Sydney Microsoft store. After confirming the hardware was faulty, they gave me a free replacement with double the SSD and RAM, so pretty good deal for paying about $1520 on their Ebay store. Also, when I registered the warranty, it came up as 2 years rather than the 1 year I expected.

  • does it take a SIM card, do the new ones.
I got a surface pro 4. thinking of getting one with data sim
