Google Pixel XL, iPhone 6, Galaxy S7 w/ 15GB - $59/Month @ Telstra (24 Month Plan)

41

Just saw this while browsing Telstra's plans.

Not really a great deal for anything besides the Pixel XL (32GB, Black) but it's just yet another option for those wanting to take out a new plan.
Sure it's a bit dated but comes with all the usual Telstra benefits
- Live Sport data free (AFL/NRL/Netball)
- 6 months Apple Music subscription and data free music streaming
- free wifi with Telstra air
- free 200gb onedrive

    Expensive for old phone models.

They should be offering this plan on iPhone 7, not the old iPhone 6. Terrible.

      • Take the iPhone 6 out of the equation. It's not worth it.

        Pixel XL though?

        • Pixel XL is actually OK. The other two should be iPhone 7 and S8.

        • @edfoo: Tbh it doesn't bother me the slightest what the iPhone and Samsung phones are as I'm unlikely to go for either of them (unless for resell value) so the Pixel XL is alright.

Gee this just highlights how awesome the Optus $59 deal for the iPhone 8 was. 3 generations of iPhone is a long time in technology

that's why optus is wining more customers

    • +8

Who then come crawling back to Telstra for the reception :P

      • never had issues with optus, even in remote areas…

      • -1

depend on where you live. and more and more places use be get bad reception are getting better now on optus or vodafone. telstra at my place never perform any better than op or vo. also tesltra's network is not reliable as we use to think nowadays.

      • Once upon a time, I would have agreed with you; but Optus has gotten much better in the last few years. I actually find I get reception in a few places others don't on Telstra.

Data speeds are great too on current flagships. My Mate 10 Pro pulls 40-50Mbps in country SA.

I don't understand why it seemed like there was a deal most days over Christmas, e.g. Pixel 2 $59 a month, iPhone 8 $59 a month even the Optus 15gb Sim Only $30 then when it comes to me finishing my contract there is nothing of note!

    • Yep, put the pixel 2 back and I'll consider it Telstra.

      • You can still get the Pixel 2 but it's now on the $79 family and friends (more data and international mins I think) Still a decent deal especially if you still get a Google home and I wonder if JB are still doing gift cards?

    • Was the deal over Xmas a Lease version or purchase?

      • A purchase

This deal used to also include the Galaxy S8 and Pixel 2 at this price-point, but they were removed when Telstra sold their entire stock in a week :-). Not such a great deal anymore, but the Pixel XL is still a solid phone choice. I wouldn't go for the Samsung seeing as the S9 is only a couple weeks away.

    No deal whatever.

This post needs to be removed.

    • No deal? It's not as good as their Christmas deal, but it's definitely the best deal that Telstra offers, by a long shot. This deal gets you 15GB, unlimited calls, 24 month contract but includes a brand new phone. If you just sold it for $650 immediately, it would mean your service will cost about $30/month.

May people still need Telstra coverage because they're still the best by a country mile.

      Your alternatives are:
Telstra Prepaid - $60/month gets you 10GB, unlimited calls, no contract, no phone
Telstra BYO - $60/month gets you 15GB, unlimited calls, 12 month contract, no phone
Boost - $60/month gets 12GB, unlimited calls, no contract, no phone

Woolworths Mobile and other resellers are on Telstra Wholesale and have less coverage, so are not comparable. Might as well go with Optus at that point.

  • What is a cheaper deal for the Pixel XL then? I'm looking at maybe getting one (or a Pixel 2)

    • Do yourself a favour and get the Pixel 2. The camera on it is amazing. So good I no longer care it the slr.

      • The Pixel 2 is indeed an amazing phone, with probably the best smartphone camera. It probably actually ties with the HTC U11 as they bought out some of HTC's people to make the Pixel 2.
Wish I had got that other Pixel 2 deal but I was away at the time :(

The $79 dollar plan (scroll down) 20gb unlimited calls to 15 countries and a Foxtel starterpack unlocks the iPhone 7, the Samsung Galaxy S8, and the Pixel 2. I'd prefer the Note 8 Optus deal for the same money but Mrs Wholesaleonly told me I don't need a new phone and I'm very happy with our decision.

  • they did have this offer about a month ago with the Samsung S8 in the deal and possibly the iPhone7. They have now moved them to the $79 plan.
Im hoping telstra follow Optus`s lead with the Note 8 deal.

  • Woolworths has the S7 Edge for $55 per month, but only 5Gb data. Really, for a phone why would you need more?

    • Woolworths Mobile plans are for 36 Months though…….

      • You can get 24 months, which is where the $55 I quoted comes from. 36 months is only $46.

The is the Family you only see at Christmas, and Friends you don’t really like Deal

  • This is really a duplicate of (this deal)[https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/342769], however over Xmas they also had the S8 and Pixel 2 in the deal, except now you need to get the $79/mth plan to get the Pixel 2 or S8.

    • Lol you got your brackets mixed up. I think you mean this ;)
I admit this isn't the best deal, but as far as Telstra goes it's not bad.

  • More like Optass

  • They had Pixel 2 for this price last month.

  • I thought Apple arent making iPhone6 anymore, where are they getting stock from?

    • Probably old stock. It's Telstra, they would have bought loads and loads but I could imagine they aren't exactly selling them all out.

  • Unless I'm mistaken, this is now expired. At the very least, the link no longer works.
