I asked the gearbest rep to match this deal on the Xiaomi Aqara Temperature Humidity Sensor. Didn't quite get there, but matched this deal in USD, although slightly more favourable AUD ($8.93 vs $9.06).

    Thanks. Got a couple.

    • Hmm, how? Multiple accounts?

  • Got one. Just received my gateway as well. Thanks ops

    • which one?

      • I got the xiaomi 5 in 1 version. Pretty cool. It’s interesting to find out that the gateway came preprogrammed with the other accessories. I just power up the gateway and the rest of the sensors were automatically detected. Let the hoarding of xiaomi sensors begin……..

  • Thanks OP, I think I may end up with one in every room in my house.

    • +1

Put one in your car if the gateway can reach.

      • +1

        That's a brilliant idea korda.

        • +1

That's where this one's going. My car is a sauna.

        • @korda: does this really help with that though?

        • +1

          @Salmando:
probably not but whatever, monitor ALL THE things!

  • What are people using these for? It looks cool to have but not sure what I would do with it

    • I've got one outside mostly just to get a location specific temperature (might end up automating the AC with it if I can figure make it conditional on windows being closed)
Planning to put one in the nursery to notify if the temp goes outside a comfort band.

    • House temperature, server room temperature, car temperature. I don't really get any value out of the humidity and pressure readings where I live.

The fun part's with the automation, can do things like send notifications or make the gateway do things when it gets hotter or cooler than a specified temperature or humidity.

      • I'm going to put one in the house and one under the house to monitor the humidity. I have issues with subfloor ventilation and am putting vents in the side of the house, so I'll use this to see if the vents help.

  • For some reasons it jumped to $11 when I apply the coupon :O

    • Expired now

  • thanks got one!
was only charged $8.76 by ING

  • Just to make sure I understand correctly

Does this connect/report directly to the Mi gateway? ie no need for an active bluetooth connection to your phone like ~Oregon Scientific sensors

Does anyone have an Aqara? Gearbest cust support says 3-5 year battery life, which seems ambitious.

    • +1

I have one. It connects to the Mi gateway (via Zigbee), doesn't use bluetooth like Oregon Scientific.

      • Thanks Adam!

    • +1

Yes. Connects directly to Gateway. Not sure about battery life, but ZigBee is supposed to user much less battery than Bluetooth or WiFi, so it may get a few years…

      • Cheers Nigel, appreciated

        • FYI. Mine is showing 47% battery (but I think it only came about 48% charge…). It's a replaceable button battery though, so should be easy to replace once it goes.

  • Has anyone hooked one of these up to activate a humidifier when humidity drops below a certain level? Asking for a friend

    • Haven't tried that specifically, but if the humidifier turns on at the socket I imagine this combined with a smart socket could do this…

      • Ahhh awesome, thanks mate. I had assumed that would be the go. Have you used a smart socket before and does this require a hub? Device to device via app would be nice.

  • I got the message "The Code you entered has expired."

  • These are expiring so quickly, you've got to watch OzB constantly and even so I keep missing out!

    • It's a hassle. I seem to get notification emails for these deals a bit late, often expired by the time the site loads

  • Would this be ussful in a humidor?

  • come on more codes please

  • why do people want to know this information? Information is power?

    • Some people have temperature and/or humidity sensitive areas.
Personally, I'm looking into getting one of these to assist with my homebrew beer.

Also waiting on one to use to keep my room in a more comfortable state. Combine with a window sensor to turn on or off the aircon if the humidity it temperature is too high, but not if the window is open.

I imagine some people would use these in a server room perhaps

      • interesting, i definitely might like to make beer

I feel like everyone knows what this is these days. It's not the cheapest it's been in the past but cheapest currently for the ZigBee version

    PS:Limited to first 80 stock,1 times per account,AU,NZ,MY,SG,BD,LK only

    • Thanks

    • I feel like everyone knows what this is these days

Is there something I am missing? It says clearly in the title what it is. Or have people being getting it for more 'creative' uses?

    • This the new one?

      • Not sure if new. This one has pressure sensor as well.

        • this is the newer one

    • Can't get free shipping on this

      • +1

Try 'checkout' instead of 'paypal checkout' to change shipping options. I had no problem getting free shipping

    • Thanks :)

    • +3

Milk. My favourite shade of white

    • +2

got 1 more, still waiting for my other 2 that was ordered last month.

      • Ditto.

      • Yeh it's been exactly a month for me, is this how long Gearbest normally takes?

        • +1

Yes on the free shipping I have waited as long as 2 months.

        • Is usually 25-35 ** business** days, so 5-7 weeks, though 8 weeks sometimes.

    • +1

I don't know what this is for.

      • Use your phone to check temps/humidity where sensor is placed. Put in front pocket to check how humid your balls get….but in all seriousness, does this work just with the downloaded app or do you need anything else (some sort of base station)?

        • Mine got delivered - I have no idea how it works… I had considered myself pretty tech savvy, but after a bit of googling set up a smart home sounds extremely complicated at this point in time with many disparate systems…

I had thought that it was just a 'pair with your mobile' or wifi network kind of thing…

        • @nietzsche bargain: no, it requires the Xiaomi Gateway. Most Xiaomi/Aqara devices require this 'hub'.
After that it's a 'pair with your mobile/wifi' kind of thing.

    • +1

      expired…

    • is this work with google home or amazon echo?

    • I think you need the xiaomi gateway to work with it.
      Can someone reaffirm this?

      • +1

        Yes you need the gateway.

  • Apart from getting temperature and humidity info on the app, can I use this to program my aircon (with xiaomi gateway)? e.g. turn on when temp > 28 etc?>

    • Not easily but possible. You can do it via a xiaomi IR blaster. Not an elegant solution.
