Green Day's American Idiot Musical [MEL] Special Preview Tickets $69.90 (Ex Booking Fee) via Ticketmaster

20

Received an email with a link to these "special preview tickets" earlier today, it seemed to be a perfectly generic link, so off to OzBargain I went. I remember looking up tickets a month or two back when they threw them up and the cheapest I could find anywhere was around 150 odd IIRC. I just clicked on the day we booked (3pm, 24th Feb) and the cheapest ticket is just over 90 bucks without this link, so not as much of a saving, but still a decent dent if you were looking to go anyways, especially compared to some of the pricier seats at other shows.

The deal is on for 69 hours only, 69 bucks, 69 hours, is there something funny about the number 69 or something? Anyway, it goes offline at 23:59 on the 26th, so go for it.

  • Green Day's American Idiot Musical

    I don't think they love America?…

  • Whats the difference between preview tickets? Do they use us as guinea pigs and get feedback on the show and improve the show accordingly? (i'm genuinely asking)

    • It would appear that the full show is at the Comedy Theatre, just down the street from Her Majesty's Theatre.

    • I don't know. I do remember from when I looked a while back though that these were the confirmed and locked in dates, months back. So it's not like it's rehearsals or anything and they've just started selling tickets.

    • Preview performances are used by cast/director to identify problems and make adjustments for later shows. These include issues that rehearsals may not identify – such as issues relating to the venue, lighting, sound, and the acting itself.

  • Looks interesting and have been keen to go, like the poster above mentioned is this the early shows…. perhaps where they are testing the cast…?

I went to the American Idiot show in Brisbane last year. I'm a big fan of Phil Jamieson. I nearly got caught out assuming he was in all shows. Bought tickets to a show on a day he wasn't performing in it. They exchanged the tix for me when I realised.

So just letting others know where they say:

"Also featuring Grinspoon's Phil Jamieson, Magic Dirt's Adalita and Sarah McLeod of The Superjesus fame sharing the role of St Jimmy."

They actually mean.. these artists will take turns each performance to play Jimmy each night.

Also.. After seeing it, I would call their participation in it a 'guest' role as opposed to a lead role.

Thanks for that. I'm a big fan of Jamieson and McLeod so would have been disappointed also. Was the show worth seeing though? I can't decide.

      • I thought it was good. I guess I was a little disappointed Phil wasn't in it more. But I'm a Green Day fan too.. So knew all the songs. Production was well done. Give it a 7/10. Asked my partner. He said he was impressed. He said same 7/10. But we both agree you wouldn't bother if one of your faves weren't in the 'guest' role.
