Anyone used these before? Do they work?

    • I have a couple of these bought on eBay for less than $10 each. They do work and catch a few small insects every night but the number of catches seems to drop off after six months. Maybe it's time to change the battery…

    • they don't work on mozzies (they're attracted to CO2)

They work on moths, beetles and lots of insects which aren't annoying.

  • Can anyone recommend something similar for indoor bedroom use?

I prefer zapper that actually kills and not ones that just keep them away…..

    Thanks!

    • When I was last at Bunnings I saw a they had the "Zapp Light" on sale which is a smaller zapper mechanism built into a regular E27 LED globe.

  • I find it's hard enough keeping solar lights consistently charged. Something that has to pump out high current like this I would be pretty suss about!

  • I heard these things actually attract the insects and you end up with more than bargained for. Is this the experience for most?

    • that's how they work by attracting insects. if you didn't have any lights on, this would attract light-seeking insects. but if you're house is already ligth up like a xmasa tree, then they're already coming.

Of course I fail to see why you'd use one unless you've got a moth/beetle plague, as they do absolutely squat for mozzies….you need a CO2 trap for that.
