    Thanks.
    Happy Australia Day everyone!

For the vast majority of Australians the day simply represents a day to enjoy themselves and be grateful they live in such a wonderful country, aboriginals included. The far-left activists have been doing all they can to turn it into a day of division. Your comment, which is an opinion not a "truth", is another example of this inflaming of divisions, by calling all people who have an affection for this day racists. Well done.

So do you think refugees and other non whites who came to Australia and celebrate today are white supremacists? I was born here, but I have dark skin. I love this country and it's traditions.

Problem with a lot of progressives is they dig up the past and push the victim card. It is they who are divisive, seeming as opposed to doing good.

        Move on mate

        I bought 2

        • @dissin I agree. The far-left SJWs will call non-white people who do not agree with them complicit in the supposed white supremacy we live in. Actually, their worst abuse is reserved for individuals from minority groups who stray from their identity politics defined pigeon hole.

        • Read up on aboriginal history and why Australia Day is such a divisive day for Aboriginals and minorities.

If you still think Australia Day should not be moved, then you are an Uncle Tom. Same phenomenon existed in US slavery which unfortunately you maybe part of.

      • Why is there always that one guy that has to bring in controversy.

  • OOS :(

  • Sold out.

Buying Australian flags, is that still legal?

Buying Australian flags, is that still legal?

      Buying, yes. Burning, not legal.

      • +2

I wouldn't want to be dragged in front of the Human Rights Commission.

        • +3

Still legal… for now. But you will be socially condemned as a racist.

  • Oy yeah sold out

    Happy Invasion Day! :D

Thank God for the Invaders, we are a First World county.

Could not agree more, we have to be grateful to those who made that country what it is today, but at the same time I understand the feeling of the first people, asking them to celebrate this day is kind of asking the South Americans to celebrate the day the conquistadors landed on their continect.

This is actually pretty close to my thoughts as well.

As much as the indigenous population of this land mass (I won't call it Australia, because it wasn't Australia then) suffered from the English arriving, Aboriginals should also be thankful of Australia Day as well.

A controversial comment to some I'm sure, but pretty much everywhere else on the planet when an advanced civilisation conquered another, the less advanced civilisation is completely eradicated. Either by disease, or by systematic genocide, they are wiped out. There are claims genocide was committed by the English here, but I dispute that. Yes they were killed, yes they were removed from their lands, but a systematic wipe out?? No way. Not like Germany.

I'm glad Aboriginal people haven't been relegated to the history books like Incas.
But everyone knows the facts here. There was no nation of Australia back then. It was hundreds of separate stone aged tribes. They if not the English, it would have been any other "super power" at the time coming down and destroying them utterly. They were protected by sea, and stuck in a time warp. No need for advancement, no need for development, no need for even the wheel… let alone ships and gunpowder.

And that's why they should be thankful. Thankful it wasn't anyone else. Thankful they get so much these days in restitution, but its still never enough. And it never will be.

Yes indeed. I can’t imagine the “original” Stone Age inhabitants turning the continent into a developed country. Their civilisation is not advanced enough, I’m not even aware of any groundbreaking scientific or engineering works they have contributed to the world.

Australia would be like Papua New Guinea or the poor African nations if it were not for the Invaders / Convicts / Free Settlers who brought the continent to the Modern Age.

For that, I thank the First Fleet for invading Australia, and as such it’s highly appropriate to celebrate Australia Day on Invasion Day, for bringing Australia out of the highly possible poverty and backwardness under these underdeveloped “traditional custodians” of the land.

I celebrate both Australia Day and Invasion Day with pride, as both of them are positive events to this country.

I'll just add, it is ridiculous to guilt the convicts and their descendants who didn't have a choice in coming to Australia. Not to mention, white people who have only a recent connection to Australia.
