FAQ

Where do I enter the coupon code?

  • When you click "Proceed to Checkout" button, it'd say below the payment method "Have Coupon?"

It's showing me higher AUD price than mentioned in the title

  • Choose USD as your currency from top left hand corner. Don't select AUD, always choose to pay in USD, it will work out cheaper even after your credit card conversion fees. Also read the below.

How do I ensure I get the cheapest AUD price possible

  • To avoid higher currency conversion rates and to get cheapest price from these Chinese websites, you should get a credit card that charges zero currency conversion fees. 28Degrees, Bankwest Zero, Coles Mastercard are generally popular. Irrespective of what credit card you use, always choose to pay in USD on these Chinese websites, (Go back to main page, Choose "USD" from top left hand corner). Additionally set your Paypal so it "bills you in the currency on Seller's Invoice". To set your PayPal account this way permanently, follow the steps shown in these snapshots [Highly recommended]

Be aware there is a new 1 gig English version for $39.00 US coming very soon read about it here

    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/70mai-smartest-dash-cam-f…

    • looks alright, will be my next dash cam

    • +3

Odd it has more backers than perks sold. Also probably uses a battery rather than a super cap which is a pity. I’d be all over it if it otherwise.

  • +6

What a shame it only lasts 70 minutes.

    • +5

      No

    • Lol you can never have enough time

    • +3

69 minutes more than I can last

    • +1

Ooooh..neggers doesn't have any sense of humour. Lol

    • +1

Did you use a chronograph watch to measure the 70 minutes?

  • +2

I purchased one on the 13th Jan and already received it on the 22th. My first experience with light in the box is very good so far, despite seeing others’ comments about the very slow shipping.
Very impressed with the camera as well, nicely built and sleek design.

    • I think it depends on the item you buy. I bought a few things from them. A dashcam, air mouse were delivered after 10-14 days, but other things like memory cards or smaller items are tend to arrive after 3-4 weeks. So be aware of that if you buy things from them.

    • I have ordered a pie and a box for pie on 6/12/2017 with delivery in 26 business days, i.e. 18/1/2018. I got the pie on 10/1/2018 but the box still has not come. I contacted lightinthebox.com customer support but the only thing they say is to wait.

I have it, yes it is Chinese voice but the app can be find in English.

The product is soild and well built for the price. Also it stick to windshield very well. Make sure you turn on monitoring while mounting it as the joint only allow you to adjust vertically, so you have to make sure your horitional view range is good before fully secure it.

Good thing to note, I park my car in the sun all the time, and it withstand this whether really well,no overheating, it just keeps working. (don't use the anti-static pad, it just won't stick to my windshield)

    • How long have you had it in your car?

      • only about 2 weeks tho.

    • Hijacking your comment! I applied that clear rectangle thing to my windshield, and then applied the dashcam to it and it fell straight off. Now i have the pad stuck to the dashcam and with no spare/replacement. No idea what to do its just sitting in its box :/

      • I used it, it is no problem. Clean the surface area with a microfiber cloth, don't use sprays etc and make sure no bubbles.

    • I applied the antistatic plastic sticker hasnt fallen off yet, been 2 weeks

  • +1

Thanks OP - finally got a dash cam for my car!

    • +5

The trick is actually getting around to install it!

      • +2

I have a Street Guardian dashcam that I bought two years ago and it's still in its box. One of the things that make me hate I ever came across OzBargain. Lol

        • +2

Welcome to my world……. This dashcam (purchased it in December), is yet to be installed. Previously I've owned two other dashcams, neither got installed, ended up selling them both on ebay at half the price I paid.

Frankly I'm wondering if I really need a dashcam…….. but everytime I watch a Russian webcam compilation video on YouTube I convince myself I do!

  • +2

has no motion detection and it speaks mandarin/chinese which cannot be changed, I regret buying it.

    • +1

      You must be an extremist

    • +12

Disconnect the speaker. Frankly, I don't want a dashcam making any noise ever.

      • A good dashcam reminds you to format the SD card regularly. It also tells you if there were events and that it starts continuous recording. How do you know it is working and it doesn't have an issue? If you are involved in an accident and your dashcam wasn't working, you're gonna be seriously pissed off.

        • +1

How do you know it is working and it doesn't have an issue?

          It has an status light.

I find voice prompts extremely tacky (in any language).

        • @ash2000: It does have a status light, its on the left side easy for the passenger to see not the driver which was not thought out properly.

        • @ash2000:

How often do you look at it, though?

A decent camera has a decent voice output.

        • @eXtremist:

designed for the Chinese market who sit on the left side.

        • @liquid metal:

A decent camera has a decent voice output.

Maybe, but it is my preference to have no sound, ever. I want to mount it behind the mirror, set it and forget it.

        • @ash2000:

Then you'll never format the SD card. It also might be broken and you don't know about it. Dashcam is never set and forget. The expensive one just make it clear to you. The cheap ones just stop working or the recordings are broken.

        • @liquid metal: That's Ok, I'll risk it not always working in exchange for my sanity!

        • @ash2000: its designed for the global market.

    • +8

you paid 35 dollars, what did you expect?

      • a common language speaking device, just like its advertised in english, it should work in english, am i asking for too much?

    • +2

Just wait for the English version release. Hopefully someone will work out how to get English on the Chinese.

      • doubt that, the new one will be english sure, not the old version

        • Flashing firmware has worked on previous ones.

        • @Clear: but not this one yet from my breif research

        • @eXtremist: Because it's not out yet.

        • @Clear: i messaged 70mai they said no chance.

        • @eXtremist: Understandable. They'd tell you to buy the new version. Best to wait and see if the community can work it out themselves.

        • @Clear: they sure did

  • I got one on a previous deal - really happy with the dashcam and the app is very easy to use.

  • Hey guys,
I bought the dashcam, when trying to link it with the wifi hotspot the app, but it keeps asking me for password, is there one?
Other than that, the dashcam have been very good

    • +1

Check the documentation, the wifi password was in there

    • +3

      12345678.

  • Thanks OP

  • These have a capacitor or battery in them?

    • +1

      Li-pol

      • +1

Ah cheers - not ideal given the interior temps in Oz can reach 60-70c - I think I'll wait for another one using a capacitor is on special. :-)

        • 60-70c

          And higher in direct sun.

I agree, sounds a bit fraught given LiPo's typically shouldn't be stored in environments above 50c.

Still, you imagine they have been Temperature tested. It's horrifically hot in china in summer.

        • +1

@ash2000: what if this thing burns in your car? Will the insurance cover it?

  • Does cashrewards work if I use the coupon?

    • +1

does with every other site so i would assume so

  • +4

All your data is belong to ‘Chyy-na’

    • +4

Yep, its a confirmed conspiracy they're hoarding international dashcam footage in preparation for the launch of a Chinese liveleak clone.

      • -2

There's nothing mentioned about it on Reddit…

        • +3

          Really? It's all over Leddit.

    • It's not logical. If you use your phone browse your video, you need to connect your phone to this device's hotspot, which is not connected to the internet. If you take out the card and browse on your computer, it is just a disk storage. How does the data leak to the internet?

  • I'm still deciding whether I even need a dashcam. $35 will get me at least 7 trips on Opal lol.

    • +1

If you're involved in an accident you'll be very happy to have one.

But I wouldn't buy this one unless you live in Tasmania. It has a Lithium battery which will degrade within a short period of time.

      • +4

I live in Sydney and have a Mini 0801 it uses a battery and it lasted 4.5 years before it started playing up the other day.

        • Lucky you. Wouldn't bet on it, though. Hot countries is exactly the reason why there are cameras with a capacitor.

  • Why this thing is called 70 minutes? Apart from the fancy wifi feature, what's the advantage compared to the famous A118C which is similarly priced?

    • Better looking?

    • takes 70 minutes to steal your life.

    • Incorrect translation. 70mai is correct.

    • Stores 70 minutes on an 8gb memory card. One file (about 115mb) per minute

  • +4

I want to buy this but I like to save my money :) thanks for posting OP!

    • +6

      Thanks for letting us know.

      • +3

i also was thinking of buying it, thought you might had been interested.

        • +2

Now that's a seal of approval any post would be proud of, and I'm confident any criticism of your deportment would be tantamount to impertinence.

        • +2

But we both don't have a car!

        • +1

          @BrodenIt: Broden now, think later.

        • +1

@Savas: Yes, buy some for your parents :)

  • What has changed in the last 5 to 10 years that makes Dashcams such an attractive item? Or am I just showing my age by this comment?

    • +2

Coz they became so affordable in past 5 years.

      Are you a 90s Kid :) ?

      • -1

No, I'm a 50s kid :) But I still don't get why you need to film what is around you. If I hit a roo which damages my car, having a video of it doesn't help my insurance claim.

        • +4

It helps if someone causes an accident, but later claims thst you did.

        • +4

@Ravenousryan: Was a life saver when I got reversed into and she claimed I rear ended her.

        • @Clear: so you got two, one for the front and the second one for the back?

  • Managed to get one, thanks

  • Managed to get one, tried to get another one but the coupon's already expired :(

  • +1

Can you please release more stock.. Code is expired.. Thanks OP

  • +1

I also got the error message that ",,,, code is expired …."
    Please get more stock. Thanks.

  • Bought a few weeks ago, very happy. Love that it grabs the time/date from your phone - that was a big pain in the a** with previous dash cams. Not sure how to re-sync though?

Does anyone know how to "lock" a recording other than Chinese voice command? Does anyone know the pronunciation?

  • I've got one on front and one on the back. Works great. Will get english versions when they are released

  • +3

Heat test report for anyone concern. It is 40 today at Melbourne. I park my car under direct sunlight for 3 hours . The camera is hot, but no issues when recording and no error

    • Try in SA with 46C :)
Last time my mini0806 pop in that heat.

  • Damnit I really should buy one :(

  • Anyone know what the 70mins mean as this camera has a microSD slot with upto 64GB storage?

    • 70 mins doesn't mean anything, it's just a wrong translation of the brand name.

    • +1

I used my 128G Samsung Pro+ And had no issue recording.

  • Grr!!
I ordered 02/02 and today I received an email saying item is out of stock and they will refund my money :(
