Hey all,

Had to share this one, I’ve been hunting for a bargain on this after seeing it priced at $78 at Chefs Hat in Melbourne. Cheapest delivered in Oz right now is around $60ish. Amazon US have this out for just over $10 US + delivery!

With a good season this should last a few nuclear strikes!!

AUD price was using the US dollar and letting my bank do all the conversion works.

Wow I wasn’t expecting such a response! Maybe we’re all just the same person deep down (steak searing, robot vacuuming loving, air purifiering eneloop collectors). Can’t wait to get my sear on!!

If anyone hears about an Anova price drop speak up!!! :)

For searing more than 1 steak my 30cm Lodge is vastly superior.

4cm doesnt sound like much, but it probably has twice the mass of the 26cm and therefore keeps the heat much better.

      • +1

Mate, for the price of your 30cm Lodge, you just bought 3x 26cm Lodges, so you could sear 3 steaks at a time! :P

Wish there was a similar deal on the 30cm Lodge, cause my existing vintage one is 26cm as well, so would have been handy to have one in each size. Although, I was thinking of getting a heavy duty pizza steel…the thermal mass on those babies would do well for searing multiple steaks! (Only problem is how to heat and handle the bloody things!) :)

        • ….. and I did buy 3x 26cm Lodges! :D

          Incredible value!

          I have a 26cm and 30cm Lodge, purchased locally for about ~$50 & $70 respectively.

As I use the 26cm more frequently, I purchased another one to for myself, the other 2 will be gifts.

When you say you have a vintage 26cm, is it old? My 26cm is a 120th Anniversary Edition.

I highly recommend the 30cm Logde if you don't have one.. you can use the one pan to cook both bacon and eggs, the 26cm is a bit squeezy.

I googled heavy duty pizza steel and they look fantastic, the only issue for steaks is all the fat/juices will run off the sides.

        • @JB1:

My "vintage" 26cm is probably stretching the term vintage - I don't know the actual age of it, but the restorer said it was from somewhere around about the 70s, I believe (I don't recall exactly, because it was a very vague age statement). I have a piece of paper somewhere.

That probably doesn't classify it as a vintage piece (it's definitely nowhere even remotely close to 120 years old, aha!) - "slightly older" Lodge is perhaps a better description! :)

Hehe, yeah I think using a pizza steel to cook steaks would probably be unwieldy and impractical…if you did use it, you would probably have to do it outside on a high btu wok burner or something, so fat dripping would be less of an issue. :)

        • @caprimulgus:

How do you restore a cast iron pan other than scrubbing off the rust and seasoning it?

          Cast iron is pretty industructable.

        • @JB1:

How do you restore a cast iron pan other than scrubbing off the rust and seasoning it?

Yeah, pretty much just that. The guy basically scours op shops, tips, etc, to find old rusty pieces, and cleans them up to sell at the market. You're probably paying more for the sourcing than the restoration (although, it was immaculately restored!).

He's just a super keen cast iron enthusiast in the USA, that i had actually read mentioned on a forum or two, and I just happened to be passing through when I was in upstate NY.

Obviously, one could totally do that themselves…but: a) luck of the draw stumbling upon a good vintage piece (especially here in Australia where they are probably harder to find), and b) the effort of scrubbing the rust off! I was very happy to pay for one that had already been found and restored by someone else! :P

  • Hi,

I am in WA metro area and Amazon said the order cannot be delivered to your address.
Anyone having the same issue? It seems a lot of Ozbargainers had success ordering one!
Is it something to do with my amazon account setting? (I signed up the account in 2009 on Amazon US website and this account seems to be working on both US and AU site.)

    Cheers

    • are you trying to buy one used, or new? Currently they're out of stock again, but I've seen a few pop up as used, but alas they don't ship to me either (in Vic).

      • think the current one on offer is from Amazon Warehouse (condition Used Like New) which is just slightly over $10 USD.

Have we just been geo discriminated :(

        • yep that's the one. I think the best chance you have is to wait to see if it's back in stock (as new, not used) again. I won't be surprised if that happens tomorrow. I'll certainly be looking out for it, I've managed to add this one to my cart twice, but it ran out before I completed the checkout process. It's now a matter of stubbornness, not requirement. :)

        • Amazon warehouse never ships to Au. They're a different entity to Amazon proper.

  • It seems there is one type back on again but has following description:

    Used - Like New
Item will come in original packaging.

What does that mean, someone has used it before?

    $10.03 USD plus shipping

    Nevermind… doesn't ship to Aus.

  • +1

    Back in STOCK!

    • Got one, but forgot cashrewards!

  • Thanks! Ended up buying 2 because shipping was only an extra $10.

  • +1

Finally got this one! Ended up buying two, so that Amazon would ship the add-on scrubbing brush. Also got the silicone handle holder.

  • I've already purchased one yesterday… but two is always better than one right???

  • Out of Stock for a "new" item that's "deliverable to Australia" (fulfilled by Amazon)

  • Looks like it's back in stock again, for anyone still interested.

    • Yep just saw that and (finally) ordered one!

Can anyone recommend where to buy flaxseed oil to keep it seasoned when it needs it?

    back in stock

  • Woo Hoo - finally got one :-)

  • +1

price has increased to ~35 AUD

  • It was delivered this morning. Didn't expect it to arrive in less than 10 days, including the weekend, from the US. Beautiful!

    • Got mine today too.

Super impressed with the shipping speed although the box itself was all damaged from the 3 loose pans moving around. Box was 3 times larger than it needed to be.

      • Wow! My box was also damaged. I think it's to do with the weight of the of skillet vs the box. Luckily the skillet wasn't damaged.

        • +1

You can't really damage the pan. The worst that could happen is some seasoning may scratch off.

        • @JB1: Makes sense.

It's back again in stock, but it's slightly higher than the price in the deal. It's showing as $28.51 US with the shipping cost. Maybe some folks might still be interested in it.

  • Anyone got the Cashrewards for this purchase?

I can see my click history and it's been over 7 days since it has been shipped out, however Cash Rewards advised with Amazon it's tough luck if you don't get it as Amazon won't investigate the transaction and therefore Cash Rewards won't investigate.

  • My pan handle was broken off when I received it.

The box had no padding - only the pan.

I tried to click returns via Amazon and it stated that $15 can be reimbursed for shipping.

Any suggestions on how to claim via Amazon??

  • Mine arrived today. Used it already. It works!

  • Thought I'd check shipping info as it's been a while…
