Description:

Xiaomi dafang HD Smart IP Camera

6pcs 940nm infrared LEDs are added for security guarantees at night or in dark places.

Main Features:
● Built-in microphone and speaker, support two-way remote dialogue
● You can get to know the situation where you want to know by phone or tablet at anytime or anywhere
● Observe the photograph and video whenever necessary
● 120-degree wide-angle lens brings a sense of immersive screen
● Playback at anytime, in addition to real-time viewing, it can insert a SD memory card to store video for look at any time
● Please download APP "Mi Home" from Apple Store or Google Play

My notes
● Supports SMB1 router storage for recordings
● Options available for persistent recording
● Native RTSP available in latest hacked firmwares
● Blue light of death? Factory reset the device - hold setup until the orange light goes out, release, let it spin, setup again
● Features like motion detection + smoke/co2 detection
● Works only on 2.4GHZ not 5.0GHz WIFI
● You need to set a password on your WIFI system; it wont allow open wifi - AES on the earlier firmwares caused a kernel panic, not recommended

Want to hack it?
Load a new firmware on it!

  • $27.08 for me. Can't wait for another deal. My business got broken into and I only had two. Xiaofang running…
Was able to record the whole incident but didn't get a face shot from where the cams were… Bastard used a bat to smash in the windows.

DAFANG? More like DAFAQ! I missed it again lol!

  • God that one time I'm at a community meeting about noise walls and security issues and can't draw myself away from the shit storm that was brewing, I miss out on the cameras! Lol

    • I tried :). US$22.99 is still there if you can handle the extra $3.

      Good luck.

      • Haha! All good, will have to get one soon as hubby kept setting the sensor off as he didn't know where it was. So worth the money just to annoy him, will need it on video now 😂😂

  • OP, just wanted to say thank you taking the time and answering all our newbie questions and being very helpful with this device

  • Thx OP got one!

I really want to buy like 100 of these (lol) but confused by all this stuff around having to be setup in "China" - is there a newb 101 youtube video on how to set it up?

Jesus for $30 AUD, theres nothing CLOSE to this price!!!

  • have these been geo-blocked yet?

  • i bought a couple of these recently, can someone tell me if you need the gateway (i havent received the cams yet, so still waiting, also never bought anything Xiaomi before). Needed something to spy on my dog while im not home.

    • No, I just use it with the app. Need a decent upload speed to view from outside the network. ADSL didn't cut it, but was ok after moving to NBN.

      • Ah cool, thanks!

Yeah on ADSL atm, and my google wifi network speeds are terrible…

On the plus side, the NBN guys have been doing stuff for the last 3 weeks on our street, and the little cream box marked 'NBN' has been installed at my front door :)

You lucky bastard! I have been checking the NBN website a lot lately to see when it will be rolled out in my area, and it kept telling me that it's has been planned and that I should check the site again in the near future. :(

        • @AussieDaddy: :(

I had NBN at my last house. i was so disappointed to learn my new house (only around the corner) was not provisioned yet :(

  • Anyone have success setting this up with and iPhone 7? Just received mine and it cannot connect. Tried looking up some YouTube clips but none seem to work:.. the strange part is i was able to get it to work on an android phone

    • Factory reset the device and try again? As in hold the setup button until the light goes out, let it reboot and it should be back to defaults.

Uninstall the mi app, delete the cache data as well, download install, set locale to china mainland, select other ways to sign in, use password, sign in, try adding the device again.

There isn't usually too much that can go wrong with them

  • Can someone pls help me get Dafang Hacks working? I have loaded up the microSD and set the wifi network. How do I access the camera as RTSP? I can see the camera on the network, only port 80 seems to be open, but no webpage loads up when I go to the IP address.

      • Woo hoo got it working. I redid the whole process and can now access the server.

Well done, sorry for the lack of instructions :).

          Good work.

      • it is an amazing little project, this one. I've been subscribed to it for awhile, and enjoy reading all the emails that GitHub sends me (I still haven't tried it on my own Dafang unit). Might have to actually turn on the Dafang and try it out one day soon.
