AirAsia DMK (Bangkok) to/from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, or Udon Thani 586THB (~A$23) Each Way Sept. & Nov

130

I have just been searching AirAsia for DMK (Bangkok) to Chiang Mai and it comes up as 490 THB plus 96 THB booking fee each way for September and November dates. It may also be available for other dates.
And then, out of curiosity, I did DMK to Chiang Rai, and DMK to Udon Thani and they both come up the same price for the same months.
In my mind these are pretty close to sale prices. I don't know about other months or other destinations.
Prices exclude baggage other than 7kg cabin baggage and exclude food & seat selection.
Be sure to untick the baggage and the insurance.

  • Thanks for posting but this is usually normal price for short haul flights on Thai LCCs? Thai Lion Air, NokAir, Thai Vietjet, Thai Airasia… etc always have fares even to international destinations at this price. I once paid $3 USD to Kuwait & Dubai from Asia.

    Good find.

  • I've fly domestic regularly in Thailand and these are standard prices for domestic LCC over there. Looking at DMK to Chiang Mai in April I can see them going for ~$27

  • Yep very standard if you book in advance…. #maimibargain

  • I am not trying to defend the deal, as I was tempted to just put it under forums as a 'heads up' due to my lack of detail. However I book internal flights a lot in Thailand, and have been chasing a booking to Chiang Mai for a while and the prices have been a lot higher until now. In my opinion, this is not the 'normal' price. Also there is no way that they could fly if everyone on the flight was paying ~A23 each!

    • I agree - not normal prices.

Think this is a forum post since not Australian based deal (unless you can link a bargain price to BKK from Australia), otherwise we would start posting cheap domestic flights from other countries where it would be irrelevant to 99.99% of users here (e.g Barcelona to Malaga for $15)

  • Further investigation reveals sales fares DURING Oct school holidays, eg SYD-KUL 199 & KUL-SYD 157. (356 return).
Also, SYD-DMK is 423 return same period.
    + bags + food +seats
… but for school holidays, this is good pricing…. around $2k for 2A2C to Thailand with some bags and food.

    • Yes very good. Prices during that period will certainly skyrocket soon with AirAsia, but it is good that they give you a chance when you book well ahead. Also pretty good early December whereas other airlines bump their prices up, even for 'early' December.
AirAsia seem to have some seats on sale at the moment but sale details are not clear.
