Reduce electricity/gas costs, don't offer this rubbish.

    • With agl 34% max discount @NSW combined with coles gift card it's the best you can get atm.

      • Woah what 34% max discount!?

  • +13

Is it worth the $10 saving at Amazon to pay an extra $500 on your energy bills?

    • Is it worth the $10 saving at Amazon to pay an extra $500 on your energy bills?

What a surprise to see JV posting such an ignorant and incorrect statement.

What a surprise to see JV posting such an ignorant and incorrect statement.

That’s approx what I saved when I switched.

        • is that a normal or time of use plan?

    • +2

AGL still one of the cheapest providers. I still only paying 24c (inc GST) per Kwh with them

      • +1

Who/state/where are you , under what contract name

I've ran the numbers numerous times, and AGL are typically the worse in most cases

I looked at it recently again. NSW - Ignoring everything else AGL was 31c per kwh, Origin was 29c. Origin also has a higher discount, lower supply.

        • QLD - Plan is Fixed
Usage Unit Excl. GST Incl. GST
          Tariff 11** c/kWh 22.48 24.728
          Feed-in tariff# c/kWh 10.60
          Solar Metering charge - Cap c/day 4.34 4.774
          Solar Metering charge - NonCap c/day 1.37 1.507
          Solar metering charge c/day
          Supply charge c/day 89.98 98.978

        • @asa79:

          Still regulated?

          apple and oranges then…

All the states are wildly different.

Vic is the "Fked" State when it comes to Electricity and Gas - proof that deregulation doesnt work.

NSW has been deregulated a couple of years now, but it look like the companies are intentionally being quiet so they don't get notice. That is price variance is tiny and savings is mostly minimal. Except for AGL though who are utter crap

        • +1

@Baghern: All states have deregulated unforunately. More money for the pollies in their backpocket from the poor power companies that always say they need to raise prices because they burning too much money on services.

        • @asa79:

Not going to argue what is good in your state.

Other than its useless to compare state to state

  • +1

Why are people even with AGL?

Change providers. They blow and their CEO is literally the scum of this earth.

    • +1

I'm with AGL and my peak GST inclusive rate is 22c per kWh… I challenge you to find me cheaper.

      • +1

That’s damn cheap. How did you manage do not get an increase? I recently called them claiming that the competition has better prices and I’ll move if they don’t offer me anything better. Still staying with $0.29 per kWh but got 33% on time rabatte.

        • Still staying with $0.29 per kWh but got 33% on time rabatte.

If your on time discount is 33%, then your effective rate is less than 20c per kWh. That's 10% cheaper than my rate. My rate includes on time discount too.

If some company offers you 25c per kWh and no on time discount, they are effectively more expensive than AGL.

        • @lubos: how much is your supply charge

      • Which plan is that?

    • Lol we are in a Ergon only area but the people in the shop before us put AGL box on (corporate contract) and now if you want to go back to Ergon you have to wait 12 months of no power usage then they can legally swap the box..

So AGL just charges us bullshit rates and there is nothing we can do..

    • -1

AGL give me 26% off, the highest in Brisbane.

      • How much is that

        • -2

          26% off?

          Use a calculator?

My bill ranges from $700-$1000 so its a big discount.

        • +1

@samfisher5986: Alot of discounts dont include supply charges

        • -2

          @asa79:

Thats right, but the places that do that give very small discounts because of that.

at 26% you are always going to be ahead.

        • @samfisher5986: your still not answering the question what is your tariff rate and supply before the discount

        • -5

          @asa79:

          its 26% off usage

If you want AGL costs, go to their website.

          I'm not your mummy.

        • -1

@samfisher5986: Ok so your not getting the cheapest then if your basing it off their website rates

        • -3

          @asa79:

Provide a source or stop trolling

        • @samfisher5986: That fact your not saying what your rate is, and going off a so called discount, means you are paying extra for that so called discount

          Website rates are (indcluding GST)

          28.60 cents per kWh
Daily supply charge 110.00 cents per day

        • -1

          @asa79:

That is correct, but that is the same rate I paid on my regular two tariff plan.

Which provider provides lower rates to the point that its cheaper then that rate + 26% off?

Unless something has changed recently, none to my knowledge.

        • @samfisher5986: may I suggest some math and logic courses on Udemy? I'm sure there is something with 98% discount, just to make the initial price of 1 billion cheaper for you. (attention there is a hint and sarcasm here)

        • @andyvolk:

Still waiting on a better price

    • From what Im reading now, its because they're not NSW…

    • Smuggler so what is your solution? Please provide actual price/energy comparison to back your statements up. Easy to just bitch.

    • -1

Damn, 11 AWS staff negged me…

  • +3

I'm on AGL gas/elec and this doesn't seem to work for me. "We can't seem to find you…"

    • Same problem :(

      • Me too.

    • Me four :(

    • Maybe you're…Off the grid.

  • +12

This deal makes me sad thinking of what might've been. Amazon AU, you suck. I just had another look just now.. still nothing worth buying, even with a 10% discount. :(

    • Amazon Echos

    • Yep, it's definitely the biggest disappointment in recent memory, especially after all that hype!

This situation actually gives Gerry Harvey some credibility!
      Shudder!!!!@?#$%^

  • I used Iselect to find the cheapest energy provider in my area (SE QLD), they called AGL ( my current provider) who price matched. Easy peasy.

    • Did iSelect show you Q Energy's prices? The government energy comparison shows them as the cheapest.

      • You need to compare both tariff and supply charge, and work out which one is better. Alot that have a low tariff have a high supply charge, vice versa

  • I am with AGL gas and elec. I have 4 tenants who work full time in my flat and I get charged 100 and 50 dollars for elec and gas monthly.

Awhile ago, gas was charged over 100, sometimes 200 300.

Any better company you guys can recommend??

    • +1

People really need to state which State they're in when it comes to Electricity and Gas

      Origin, recent campaign
      https://www.originenergy.com.au/for-home/campaign/your-eyes-…

NSW Origin is generally the best out of the big companies by a country mile.

But different locations may get worse. Always chdck the fact sheet for your area, distributer

Also AGL and ORigin both have no exit fee 12 mth contracts, so when better discounts or $rebate as per the link above comes around, reapply new contract

      • I live in Sydney NSW

        • 95% of cases get the fk out then.

Check your fact sheets. The above deal will also give u and extra $50 each for gas and Electricity.

$100 sounds low for AGL though, even if u have $50 for gas. I wonder if its an under estimation

  • I don't remember, but I did check both sites at the time.

  • When will the 10% expire?

    • +1

Looks like it needs to be redeemed by 31st of March, 2018

(I'll add the extra details to the post)

  • “As part of our work with Amazon, throughout February we are delighted to offer customers with a valid email or mobile for marketing purposes a single use 10 per cent discount code on a single shopping transaction (up to a maximum purchase amount of $100). The offer applies to items sold by Amazon AU only and excludes all products sold by third party sellers, digital content, e-books, subscriptions and gift cards via the Amazon app or amazon.com.au. Get solar! Regardless of the provider, I only pay daily service charges.

    • +1

Do you have a battery or do you not use electricity at night?

    • +1

That's the problem. Companies advertise a massive discount from the usage only. So even if you have solar and a battery they still screw you with the supply charge, which keeps going up

  • +2

Those who cannot get their details authenticated, making sure you agreed to the marketing consent in My Account.

It will take at least a day to get your preference updated in the system.

    • Where about's is the marketing consent?
I've gone into my account and don't see any option for marketing consent.

    • Already signed up to receive offers, no dice

I think you need to sign up to AGL rewards

  • Wow 10%

  • @Katie2014; Tell the marketing schlubs at AGL to #$%! off, from me.

Nothing they do will ever pay for their stinkin polluting CSG and appalling coal mining efforts.

And I don't even live near any of it.

We ran a new pipe to connect to natural gas 3 years ago, here in the City. Disconnected within 12 months when we found out they were poisoning the water table. Now we have solar, it's sweet as!

  • +1

Amazon Australia have a 50% restocking fee which isn't mentioned clearly in their returns policy. I will be steering clear of them. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/357942

  • Does seem to work for me, entered account number and surname and received

“We can't seem to find you. Please try again.”

    • Would really like to up vote this though,

      1. Long term AGL customer with already registered mobile and email for marketing preferences,
      2. Already have details in my account - so no need to wait
      3. Customer service is not aware of this page/deal (when contacting them)

Does not recognise my account id and surname according to bill or my account details

Unless someone here can prove me wrong, would love to get an Amazon Echo…

      • They have FAILED in all regards relating to this promotion…
After emailing [email protected] explaining the situation from their own customer service advice with a reference number, and screenshots… reference to this page explaining others are having problems… they have the nerve to tell me to contact Amazon about this. The Promotion address is clearly AGL's!!!

I totally want to leave AGL over this matter!!
        And most likely will…

This is ridiculous… and at best, mocking us!

        • I ended up emailing the above and I got the code via email lastnight $10 off my echo plus happy about that.. how do I remove the neg?

        • @DanielR: The asses!!! They doged me!!!

        • @Davious: update. After a called just now, resolutions have calmed me down and sorted my issue finally. Thank you AGL
