FAQ

Where do I enter the coupon code?

  • When you click "Proceed to Checkout" button, it'd say below the payment method "Have Coupon?"

It's showing me higher AUD price than mentioned in the title

  • Choose USD as your currency from top left hand corner. Don't select AUD, always choose to pay in USD, it will work out cheaper even after your credit card conversion fees. Also read the below.

How do I ensure I get the cheapest AUD price possible

  • To avoid higher currency conversion rates and to get cheapest price from these Chinese websites, you should get a credit card that charges zero currency conversion fees. 28Degrees, Bankwest Zero, Coles Mastercard are generally popular. Irrespective of what credit card you use, always choose to pay in USD on these Chinese websites, (Go back to main page, Choose "USD" from top left hand corner). Additionally set your Paypal so it "bills you in the currency on Seller's Invoice". To set your PayPal account this way permanently, follow the steps shown in these snapshots [Highly recommended]

Does this have a notification led?

Yes but on the passenger side so better find a partner! ;)

Thanks OP!!!!! You're a champion eventhough it doesn't have expedited shipping.

  • Which one is better this or the Yi dash cam ,need help

    • The Yi one shoots at higher frame rates and has a back screen. The Yi one also has an ADAS but i doubt you would ever want to use it.

      • SO Yi better?

        What is ADAS?

        • +1

Horses for courses. Depends what you are after.
ADAS is the lane detection and front collision detection in build to the camera.

        • @mansunz:

Don't know what I am after, just the best one..
          Which one would you prefer?

any of these devices or other that support parking collision recording?

There's a few cases of hit and run while you are parked while not in the car.

        • @pinkybrain:

It is unfair for me to comment of which 1 I like better since I only have the Yi dashcam which I am very happy with. If unsure, I could recommend the Yi ones. Solid

        • @mansunz: any of these devices or other that support parking collision recording?

    • -1

That depends, do you prefer apples or oranges?

  • +1

    Battery or capacitor?

    • It says the battery is only used to save the current video after the car is powered off, and not to try use it without it being plugged in.

      • +4

I think he means for the purpose of use in high heat maybe? Lithium batteries are less resilient than super caps.

        • Correct. Thanks.

  • So does that mean it can only record up to 70 minutes, or is this just the name of the product

  • +2

Has anyone figured out how to pronounce the Chinese word required for voice activation to lock/save a video?

    • You can always download the video to your phone from the app.

      • Only if you remember to do so before it’s overwritten.

        • With a 32gb card you're going to get about 3-4hrs footage. Plenty of time to get it off before getting overwritten unless you're driving very long distances daily.

        • @yippy: If I’m driving on the freeway and see a minor bingle, there’s nothing you can do until you’re parked safely. The whole process to open the app, connect to the wifi, and download a couple of 1 minute clips takes at least 3+ minutes (it’s real slow). By the time I’m off the freeway I’ve completely forgot.

Admittedly if it was a big crash recorded, you’d probably just pull over (safely) straight away and save it to your phone.

With other recorders you just press one button on the device and keep driving… simples!

        • With other recorders you just press one button on the device and keep driving.

Yes, but they are 3 times the price !

        • @Marty131: If the recording you wish to save is that unimportant that you forget to make a copy of it, then was it even worth making a copy of in the first place?

        • @Lorindor:

It's not important enough for me to pull over on the side of a 110km/h freeway! If there was a dedicated button, I'd press it.

        • @Marty131:

It's not important enough for me to pull over on the side of a 110km/h freeway! If there was a dedicated button, I'd press it.

So then why is it an issue if you have to do that? Because if it were important you would pull over.

        • @Lorindor:
The dedicated button to lock a file exists on every other dash cam.
The Xiaomi 70 Mile has a voice activated function for this, in Chinese.

Obviously people need the ability to lock files.

        • @Marty131:

Obviously people need the ability to lock files.

You keep saying that, but haven't explained the reason why.

As another member already stated, you can easily save files by accessing it via the app, even hours after the event.

  • Can this device sustain Aus heat ?

    • +1
        • +4

          Here you go

          Operating Temp: -20 - 60 Degrees

The rep is trying to help, they just don't have this particular info on their website, which is something their IT team needs to fix.

  • Are there any dash cams that can be put to standby mode and when someone walks in front of the vehicle start recording?
This option would have saved me over $1000 in total if I had a camera like that in the past/

    • Any dashcam with parking mode could do that :)

      • Is it a thing that would be specified on the camera details or newer dashcams all have this option. For instance this dashcam? Sorry if Im asking too much :)

        • It's under the name "motion detection" :) for example this is the specification from Blackvue:
Recording Mode Normal recording, Event recording (when impact is detected in normal and parking mode), Manual recording and Parking recording (when motion is detected)
*For Parking mode recording, a Parking Mode Battery Pack (Power Magic Battery Pack) or a Parking Mode Hardwiring Kit (Power Magic Pro) is required.

And no I don't think this dashcam has "parking mode" at all

        • @ntb: thanks you very much for the detailed description

  • If I was going to buy a dashcam I'd buy this one, but damn those cables are ugly. Completely pointless for a rental car.

    • What cables do you speak of? This camera has similar cables to any other dashcam. Cable is easily hidden in door seal / trim when installing.

  • Just got a new car for the other half. I hard wired the G1W in her old car and couldn't be botherd taking it out.
For $35.60 to get a new dashcam this is perfect.

    • But you have to lean over to the passenger side to check the circle LED around the button to make sure it is recording unless you can speak Chinese voice commands to it.
It starts with wifi working so you press to turn it off.

Ordered two. I'll put one in the wife's car. Just have to instruct her. "If it's your fault, swallow the SD card".

Better get some SD cards too…

    • -2

She can also hide the card in two other holes.

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

  • thanks OP got one!

    So Only works for 70mins???

  • -3

Just noticed the brand is not Xiaomi. it is 70Mai
    https://www.70mai.com/ = http://www.midrive.com
I am really considering that LightInTheBox is misleading.
Anyway, does not matter if it is good enough tho.

  • How much would it cost to get one of these hard wired?

    • Hard wired to the car? The cost of a length of cable from your accessory power source to the 12v adapter I guess?

I'll do it for 20 bucks.

      • What I mean is to hard wire the camera so that it does not take up any existing 12V adaptors and wires are under the trims.

        • +2

Yeah, shouldn't cost much to do at all to be honest. I've done that with mine. I bought a 12v -> 5v inline wired adapter, attached it to accessory power and wired it up nice and pretty.

        • @MorriJ:
Thanks for letting me know. I thought it would be 2-3 hour job.

    • About $15-30 depending on how diy you want to do it. Add in a lot extra if you want a battery so that you can get video while the car is parked.

    • OPP any offers for the VIOFO A119S V2?

      • +3

don't have enough stocks due to CNY, might bring it back after CNY

      • +1

My VIOFO lasted around 2 months in the qld sun mounted to windscreen. Wasted $100 on it. Now need to replace with a different one.

    • +1

      Sold out, any more codes?

      • I'd like to know this too. I was going to purchase and the code expired.

  • +3

I'm just waiting for the next english version https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/70mai-smartest-dash-cam-f…

  • Would it be possible to use this as a ‘rear’ dash cam? I already have one for the front of my car but really want one to capture the rear as well? I would I also need to purchase a longer cord?

    • yes, it is a camera, why would it not be possible?

probably will need a longer cord.

    • +1

The cable it comes with is 3.5m long.

  • +2

"Sorry, your coupon has exceeded the maximum limit for usage"

    Any more stock OP?

    • Looks like code has expired.

      • Got the same message

  • Expired.

  • When I attempted to download a video this morning, I found that the WiFi network was no longer available. I power cycled a few times but no luck. Getting a solid green status light now (not "breathing").

    Has anyone else experienced this?

I assume I'll need to reset the device.

    Perhaps heat related?

    • +1

No I think you might have wifi turned off from the app settings (it's the 1st setting in the app). You should be able to bring the wifi back by just pressing the button on the camera once.

      • Cheers, will try after work.

  • +1

Just got mine. 12 days is pretty good.
