Laser Micro USB Cable - 3 Pack 2metres $10 BIG W $3.33 each

I understand these are an everyday price but I think they are great value and I haven't seen them listed here before.

Pros: 2metres length x 3
: Supports 2.1 Amp charging although not stated. (My Xiaomi phone charges max 1.5amps and does this fine)
: Australian Product so should be no issues with warranty.
: Slim micro usb port, those bulky pc micro usbs never fit into my case.
: Looks like decent gauge wiring 3.7mm including sheath.
: Readily available, no need to wait to be delivered from China.

All due respect OP, but you haven't seen them here because they are just an everyday price. Also not that great of a deal, Coles had individual ones for $1 each recently - $3 for 3, not $10. And laser is kind of a crappy brand..

Like i said I was impressed by the quality of these, cannot vouch for coles, but i doubt they are 2metres in length.
These were the cheapest cables i could find that actually fit in my case.

I'm impressed with the quality of my Zapals 50c cable. Price considered of course.

Had a few laser products and hated them such bad quality at a premium price. Their micro USB cables are always $10, where is the bargain here? Otherwise, I could post half the store of what things I think are 'good value'.

      • My zapals cable doesn't charge any devices. IDK what is wrong with it.

      • They are not Australian Stock, unless you can show me something comparable for Australian Stock at the same price point, then i stand by my post. Happy to be proven wrong.

        • Happy to be proven wrong but it's a standard price, so don't see where the bargain is?

          @pennypincher98:

You still haven't been able to show me a comparable Australian product at a better price. Let's compare apples with apples here, not apple and oranges. You were the first to post and you still haven't been able to prove me wrong.

          @Austrian Oak: But……Apples use lightning cables tho….. :P

          MSY 1 dollar each.

        • @jpl: My experience with MSY $1 cables is they are slow and length is not exactly 1 metre.

      Good deal ignore the idiots

Eh micro usb 2m are $2 a piece. Only good deal if you need it now.
Slapping a brand on something and marking it up 20% is what Apple does.

    • Can you link to these please? Australian stock?

      • "Only a good deal if you need it now" - So no not aust. stock

  • -1

    whats the deal?

  • If I were buying I'd buy from cheap asian reseller for $0.50 each, but you can still do cheaper than this from ebay resellers with stock in Australia. As an example 2m Micro USB for $3.00 each: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Micro-USB-Data-Charger-Cable-For…
    USB

    • I've purchased plenty of these too and none of them have ever been able to charge over 500 mA.

  • I reckon this is only a good deal if you can buy the cables separately. If you have use for all 3 cables then go for it.

    • +1

Yep, that's fair. I posted this deal because many times i've used the search function on micro usb cables only to find those deals expired or non-Australian stock and the fact that they are readily available at a great price will help Ozbargainers in future searches. :)

As someone who has spent far too much on crappy cables this is a godsend.

I mean I would rather them cheaper but personally I haven't found any 2m cables less than $3.33 a pop that have managed to charge over 500mah fine..

Only worry is because they aren't nylon braided they probably won't last as long.. which is a worry.

Can't go back to non nylon now too many horror stories with electric shocks and static with exposed wires.

I bought these for my kids

I got snapped, 1 lost a pin, I think the blue one might be kicking around somewhere but they are low quality + the micro USB port is a piece of shit.

Got the lightning ones as well which are 2 for $10, they still work but only me and mum use these…

    • We've got the lightning ones too and they're ok. Prob best to use some silicon tape on the the connections between the cord and the ends so that they don't split (which I've not done) but ours have all split :/

I guess for the convenience of being able to get them from Big W they're ok. I should have kept the receipt though so I could have taken the dodgy ones back. Oh well.

Lol, don't say that they are bad quality otherwise a "mystery person" might neg you for making their post seem like a bad deal..

I agree though. Yet to have a Laser product that is worth the money spent.

  • This is an every day price, but each to their own.

  • For those intending to use them with maybe your quickcharge compatible devices or even voltIQ - this may not be able to output the rated 2.1amps given the length of cable.

Unless the cables come printed with the gauge ratings - a test via multimeter will be the best way to verify.

Rule of thumb typically if you’re after a micro USB cable that can carry larger loads/faster charge times - length is usually one of the easier determinant (less than 1m or even stringent would be 60cm)

Note - i game across some web articles on micro USB cables while searching for one that can reliable output the unusual 2.5amps required by the latest raspberry pi 3 (via my xiaomi powerbank) - have yet to find one so appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction.

    • Its more about wire gauge to length. If companies are willing to use a good gauge wire probably around 20 AWG you would have a QC rated cord that is longer.
With this the price will be higher so they keep the cables shorter to save cost.
Shorter cables are a double edge sword they are not very useful because they limit where you can use your devices but that is how they keep cost down. You cant exactly use a 1m cable with a PS4 controller.

Shorter fatter cables will carry more current without heating up causing resistance. I think companies like Tronsmart, Blitzwolf use 22 AWG cable.

      • Anker powerline+ is my go to recommendation now for all cables.

Especially the nylon braided I think they are the best unless there is a flexible andsteel or metal casing version of them somewhere around for industrial practices.

      • yeah but when I'm looking at a product sold at the lower end of a price spectrum but with abilities associated to higher quality/rarer cables - the length rule comes into play as a quick veracity check

somewhat akin to the density of a powerbank.

Not perfect but a good enough reliable qc check on the fly

  • Lots in in Hallett Cove.
